Auto Enter Experiment: ENTER ALL THE HORSES!
-
I have changed the way auto enter works. It is no longer looking at a horses score and just entering everything. With classes so cheap now and showing so important this seems like the logical and right step to take. Should really keep those classes moving and the points coming in for everyone. Let me know how it works for you.
I goofed a bit and some pasture horses may have been entered. Ignore that. It was the fault of my testing not something in auto enter.

Aha! that explains the fact that my showing deficit is currently about twice the size of my point-based weekly earnings. Of course, the horses in the barn that was shown are mostly pretty young and the classes small, so it was only to be expected. I'm glad I got myself a fairly sizable cash infusion a last week to help me out for this breeding season. I'm done with breeding except for the pastures, so losing quite a lot won't be a total disaster. I think, in the long run, things will level themselves out as my horses continue to show and at least some of them will gain points.
So, no, I'm not upset about this. I'll be watching with considerable excitement to see how the experiment develops over time.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Actually I don't think it does. If you have a mess of young horses most classes are only going to be about 20 hbs to enter. Even if ALL the horses you have (minus primary barn) showed yesterday (the first day this happened) and every single one came in dead last (something that is statistically impossible) you would have only lost just over 5,000 hbs. This change is going to cause you almost no noticeable effect in the profit column.

Excellent!!! I won't have to "Enter This Barn" now!!
-
Before auto enter changes Score of 55 for this horse. Came in 4 o/o 5. Class high was 60 class low was 54 (6 point spread) Average score of 57
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/classes.php?class=3568834
After auto enter changes. Score of 55 Came in 1 o/o 5. Class high was 55, class low was 52 (3 point spread) Average score of 53.6
This change has made it so it is WAY easier to do well in shows are really taken the pressure off of entering. This will ease up high levels as less people stop dumping mid range performers as well

Thank you Ammit! Looking forward to seeing how this effects my barn.
-
This is awesome. I have TONS of ponies entered right now. Thanks Ammit! Perfect.
-
I love the enter all! Awesome idea Ammit :)
-
I think it's working well for me too. When you started it, I think my weekly bonus was between 2 and 3 thousand hbs. Now I'm over 6 thousand. I do have a loss for weekly net profit of -3786, but I figure as long as my bonus is higher than my lost profit, things are looking good.I was jllewis on the old forum.

Will they all be entered every day? Just currious as I only show 1 horse in my show entries right now.
-
No. This is auto enter. It only works via auto enter.

Ok so if I have auto show on then it should be entering all the horses in my barn correct? Or do we click on "Enter this Barn" and everything gets entered? Sorry, I think I am over thinking this and getting confused
-
If you have auto show turned on for the barn, it should be picked sometime during the days that it scheduled on without you having to worry. You can always check to make sure that it happened by looking at "My show results" at the bottom of the horse list.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

This only effects level five. Not mass enter. You don't have to do anything.

So, if we have horses past their showing prime, they need to be pulled out of a barn with auto show, correct?
-
How is the new system working out for ya guys. At least in my barn it does not seem to be causing any harm and is actively doing great things for my bonus points.

My bonus points are going up all the time! Which is super! My general showing profits are negative but I'll adjust the show horses a bit as they settle into their normal showing and pull out the worst levelled off ones into a no show barn.
You earn a 9512 hb's weekly bonus from showing.
This week you earned a net profit of -3,441hb's.
No bad considering the most I ever made in showing before was about 1k a week!! That's when it wasn't negative like usual LOL! -
My weekly bonus points are up to 9358 hb's with a net profit of -3,393hb's. That is an increase of about 3000hb's to the bonus over the last week with the loss to the net show profits remaining fairly stable.
It looks to me like this new system is going to work really well over time.I was jllewis on the old forum.

I like the results very much, too. Although my weekly showing profits remain negative, the deficit is declining slowly each day, usually. My total points, and hence the points bonus, are climbing steadily.
Today's summary:
You currently hold 2741 points.
You earn a 1644 hb's weekly bonus from showing.
This week you earned a net profit of -1,968hb's.
Thank you for making this experiment. It gets my vote as a successful one.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

I was almost always in the negative before, now I have a bonus of over 21K and a net profit of -7K, so all in all I make around 14K a week. So I'm a very happy camper :D
-
Really liking this enter everything! Gone up quite a bit in just a week!
You currently hold 21326 points.
You earn a 12795 hb's weekly bonus from showing.
This week you earned a net profit of -4,462hb's -
I continue to like the new system, especially the showing all horses. My stable home page today gave me a giggle.
You currently hold 4037 points.
You earn a 2422 hb's weekly bonus from showing.
This week you earned a net profit of -2,422hb's.
The last of these three lines fluctuates and is up again today, but the top two continue to rise steadily. What has me chuckling is the equality between the weekly bonus and the current net profit.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
