Catch A Candy Blue Corn Moon contest!
  • I got a Catch a Blue Moon herd helper. And she turned out to be a Candy Corn horse as well! AtA doesn't breed or use GMTs, SO! Time for a CONTEST!

This contest is for stables with LESS than 1000 horses( +/- 100 horses)

The best halloween costume I ever came up with was:

Tell me what your BEST idea for a Halloween costume was! Tell me the over all idea, and how you made it happen!

I once went to a party as a hairball. I wore a big black garbage bag and glued clumps of fake hair mixed with grass on it. Then I mixed some Elmers glue with yellow food color and made 'puddles' of puke yellow vomit and stuck them on it too. It was a MAJOR hit!

Please keep it to something YOU actually wore, created, or TRIED to create! Even flops can be fun!

    The mare: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=1275684

This will run until Wednesday (10-18) at rollover. I will pick the winner on Thursday.

  • The best halloween costume I wore was some sort of detached head? My mom cut a plastic plate and I put it around my neck. A little bit of fake blood around it and I had my head on a platter!

  • Oh boy! I love dressing up for Halloween so this is not as easy as it should be lol!
I think the best one I put together completely myself (meaning I only bought a few accessories) was Cruella DeVil. I had a black satin cocktail dress with crystal lined pockets worn once for a wedding, and a black and grey skull pattern scarf. I had black lace glovelets. I bought a black and white wig and used the "diamond" studded cigarette holder I had from a flapper costume. With some costume diamond jewelry and hair clip, deep red lipstick and a couple stuffed animal Dalmatians in my pockets I was good to go!
Another worthy mention was my Red Riding Hood I put together with pieces from a steampunk costume (skirt and shirt), a red corset, a long red velvet hooded cloak, my own tall boots, lace glovelets, and an antique picnic basket. With red and brown feather earrings, and a fluffy petticoat under the skirt. I felt so fairy tale! My bf at the time dressed up as a Big Bad Wolf with a werewolf mask, body paint, fangs, and a thrift store leisure suit. Epic. (Sidenote a friend of mine was the Gortons Fisherman at that party too, yellow rainsuit and a net full of fishstick boxes! :))

  • By the way hairball is incredible!

  • My best costume was being Fready Cruger while my twin brother was Jason Voorhee and we were sitting in the bushes out by my house scaring everyone and we would occasionally have a duel like a Fready VS Jason type thing it was a really fun thing and btw my brother had a leaf blower and I used my brothers wolverine claws for Fready :) :))

  • My best costume was being Cheechee from Teen beach movie, I wore a leather jacket and tight pants and boots, and I had to tease my hair soooo much to get it big enough, and I wore dark eye makeup :)) The next day my hair was so frizzy :))

  • I haven't done this costume yet but it is my plan for this year. I hope it still counts. A couple months ago I got a dinosaur costume for my three legged pit bull pup, Dobby. I knew I wanted to do a costume with him. I decided on Wilma from the Flintstones! I am going to do a white dress with a orange leopard print sash. Dobby is going to help me hand out candy! I am very excited. (~~)

  • I'm certainly not eligible for the contest (waaay too many horses), but I love the idea, so I'd like to share two unusual costumes I created, one I wore myself and one I made at my daughter's request.

When I was in 7th grade (please don't ask how many years ago that was. I'd have to break out the calculator.:D ), I decided to be the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. Probably with my mother's help, I wore a black top hat made from poster board that rested on my shoulders, a suit, and carried a china teacup on its saucer.

My daughter was in kindergarten when she asked to be a light bulb for Halloween. Believe me, that caused some head-scratching. I finally decided that poster board was the only solution, got two sheets of yellow, created a light bulb shaped pattern and managed to make a front and back bulb by drawing the filament with magic marker and adding a couple eye holes. It made Julia about twice her normal height. I think she wore a yellowish shirt, but don't remember what color her pants were.

@NxtLevelGlen I really love both those costumes.

  • Well this year.. I am being the bearded lady!
I am 28... And on a personal note I have been noticing whiskers on my chin... Real whiskers. And I have been diligently plucking them! But they keep coming back and whats worse is they bring friends!
Its funny, embarrassing and worrying all at the same time. So after alot of consideration I am going to buy a beard wig and wear it with a beautiful dress.

  • Last year I was a Holy Cow. I had a black and white shirt(I took some felt made patches and glued it on) black pants and I had wings and a halo.

I love puns that's why I find it funny!
This year I'm planning on being a Deviled Egg.

  • I don't celebrate Halloween but I do costume classes in horse shows.

The best costume I did was a girls sleep over. I had a mini foal I put a pink bathrobe on her and put pink curlers in her mane. I got a pink feather boa and cut it in four pieces. Then I tied these just above her hooves and it completely covered her hooves so it looked like she was wearing slippers. She was so cute! Then I tied a Teddy bear around her neck. I then dressed in a blue bathrobe, with pajamas, and matching slippers. I had a stuffed horse as a teddy bear. The judges loved it and we won. :D

  • I was a pig in a blanket once. Took a rubber pig snout and wrapped myself up in a big blanket. Was nice and warm trick or treating that year :)

  • The best halloween costume I ever came up with was:
Once I dressed as "where's Waldo" and I spent the entire night sneaking into the background in dozens upon dozens of stranger's pictures at the costume party at the bar where I worked. I was "on call" for checking ID's and booting people out when the staff suspected someone underage snuck in, so I had a lot of free time in between that. The wait staff pointed me towards groups that were taking pictures, once they realized what I was doing. It was from 7pm to about 2am. I have no idea how many pictures I got in, or if anyone even noticed, but it was fun.
Six years later, I have a couple friends that I didn't know back then. One time around Halloween we were all looking at pictures of costumes from previous years, I see me in the background of about half of the ones taken that night by my new friends. They had noticed "Waldo", but didn't realize it was me until I told them.

  • Two years ago I made my horse a Budweiser Clydesdale! It was super cool at he's 17hh with splash. And the splash goes significantly past his knees. And we made fuzzy white stuff on his legs. And borrowed a harness from our friend that had Clydesdales. Actually her two year olds harness. Lol. Then we did SMS. And since he's deaf he responds to my body language. I could go infront of the blinkers to make him trot but I couldn't get him stopped again. Lol. I was a conductor and wore my grandpas old firefighter captain hat. My friend brought his dog and we made him wear a white shirt with polka dots. We got 2nd place and won a 500$ hat coupon.

  • The best costume I ever had was in my pony club days. I dressed up as a horse and we dressed my horse as a human.

My Mom helped me make a paper mache horse head that fit on top of my riding helmet. We found a black velvet dance leotard and pants and I wore black gloves and shoes. My Mom cut up black Halloween wigs to make a mane and tail for me. For the horse we tied a top hat to his bridle and made a big bow tie for him. Pretty sure he had black polo wraps and we created this fabric tuxedo looking thing to cover my saddle with. Good times. :)

  • I saw this a few giveaway a few days ago, but I forgot to post something, so why not bring it back now? :)) I'm not very good at costumes, but one of the best I did was I dressed my horse as super man! I got a dark blue slinky to put over his head and body, and I painted the super man logo on the chest, and I put a red cape on him!
Another one I did a long time ago, was one of those Hawaiian dancers! I tied a grass skirt around my horse, and I put leis around her neck and her ankles, and I put flowers in her mane and tail. I also braided a flower into my hair and wore a grass skirt with her!
  • I'm not sure if this counts as I am currently working on making the costume, which could take awhile as its pretty intricate. But for those who have seen the new Wonder Woman movie (love, love, love btw), I'm making a Queen's Guard costume. There aren't too many reference photos to go from, especially of the back because there's a cape. So we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. I'm hoping to wear it for costume classes at random shows and maybe for halloween next year.
  • My best costume effort was when Hubby and I turned up as Homer and Marge Simpson.
I made Marge's hair out of a pizza box that fitted my head perfectly, I glued cotton wool balls all over it and used a whole tube of pthalo Blue acrylic paint on it.
I painted a pair of plimpsols bright red and found a necklace with chunky red beads in a charity shop, along with a green skirt that I made into Marge's dress.
I painted my face, arms and shoulders yellow (luckily I had yellow tights. Lol!) then I painted black circles all the way round the outside of my eye sockets, and painted the inside white, so that my actual eye looked like the pupil of Marge's eye.
When we we pulled up in traffic on the way to the party drivers alongside us would look over, do a double take and burst out laughing. It was hilarious! =))

  • I'm not eligible but I wanted to share my story anyways, the best halloween costume I ever wore would probably be when I was Madonna, it was green and black with a skirt and cute crop top with wrist gloves and possibly my most favorite costume, my brother was an adorable dinosaur, my mom used to make all of mine and my brothers costumes when we were kids and I think that was probably my most favorite out of all of them, I have a picture of me modeling it somewhere lol :-)

  • I never get many trick or treaters, so this was my giveaway opportunity! When I first moved to St. Louis I was thrilled to discover the tradition of telling a joke when you trick or treat! It is HILARIOUS to see some little kid, who can barely walk tell you a joke they don't understand! First one I ever heard: What goes 'clip clop, clip clop, BANG! Clip clop, clip clop, BANG!'?
