What to do on downtime?
  • I sprained my ankle really bad and the doctors told me to stay off of it for 2 or 3 days, basically on bed rest. I need some ideas what to do as I sit here with my foot up. I have some books, but I'm a fast reader so they won't last long. I don't really want to sit and watch TV the whole time. And there's only so much I can do on here. Help!

  • Oi. I know that feel when I threw out my back. I had video games to keep me company, but I'm like you are with books, the games don't last long. I started getting into writing recently so maybe if the books aren't doing it for you, write your own?
Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

  • I really love to do art you could draw, paint or color, fuzzy posters are fun, cross word puzzles or any kind of puzzles if you like them.

  • Ouch! I hope it heals well. Be careful and don't push the recovery, the ankle is a tricky joint.

I agree with Timber that writing can be a good alternative to reading and puzzles are great brain teasers as Starfire mentioned. Something that I did when I sprained my ankle was called up elderly relatives that I hadn't talked to in a while. They were always happy to chat and I didn't feel so lonely and bored. I also wrote letters to friends that moved out of state.
  • Thanks for the ideas! I forgot I have some grown up coloring books around here! I'll see if my husband will dig them out when he gets out. :)

@Ritsika. I hurt this ankle last month too and I guess I didn't let it heal properly then. This time it happened at work and they freaked out. I had like four or five x-rays done and wasted three hours in a waiting room. Sucks but I guess I'll keep off it better this time. I have livestock plus my job involves walking hours a day, so it's hard.
