To pass the time until the next breeding season, and to share the wealth a bit, I have decided to host a little essay contest.

What I would do with a million HBs.

Entrants must write at least a paragraph outlining, in detail, how they would spend 1 million HB's to improve their stable or herd. I will review the entries on 5 September, the individual with the plan I like the most will be gifted with 1 million HBs. Second place will recieve 500K HBs and 5 runner-ups will recieve 100K HB's each.

I will be looking for solid plans to build a stronger stable. Plans with long term benefits will be favored over flashy short term boosts. Hunt and Jump is all about the long game.

What would I do with 1 million hb..Humm..I would start off by comparison testing all the studs I use for breeding to each other and only keep the high superiors for that generation. I would buy more barns and buy more pastures so I can put all my mares in pasture although I don't think you can buy pastures with hb. Then I would invest in a ton of show horses because the show bonus is the most important thing in the game. I have 29 horses with high points that could die at the first of next month so I need replacements. And lastly I would help out newer players by giving them some hb to buy show horses and barns so they can get a good start to their game. Then I would help out players that have helped me out or other players in this game I have lots of players already thought of for that..:) StarfireAcres ID# 22533 entry #1

I'm still pretty new to the game (only a few months) so my stable is pretty small. I'd probably use the money to comparison test all my studs since I haven't had enough hbs to test any of them yet. I'd also buy new barns because I'm probably gonna start to run out of room this season... then I'd probably try to find some show horses and high gen and PT studs to produce some show babies with a high PT and get a higher show bonus. Basically, I'd probably try to just expand and work on quality breeding! It'd probably be s good idea to also save some for breeding plans and turn some into IVs to save to buy another membership when mine runs out. Thank you for doing this contest! It made me think about where I want my stable to head! :)

The first thing I would do is buy another barn, the biggest I could get, which would likely be a 210 stall barn.

1 mill hjb would get me 80 IVS
1 210 stall barn = 70 IVS
IVs left over = 10

Then I would sell my show barn #6 (120 stalls) for 32 IVS
and my show barn #3 ( 90 stalls) for 24 IVs. This would give me a total of 66 IVS
I would then purchase another 4 IVs myself ( 4x 12, 500= 50k hjbs) to bring my total IVs to 70. This would allow me to purchase ANOTHER 210 stall barn.
I was lucky enough to get an 'exceptional show horse" HH a couple of times and through that, have added even more great horses to my show herd.
I'd also finally have room to keep my snipped foals! Up until now, I've often had to sell foals back to the game because I had no room for them. By adding as much stall space as possible..I would be able to keep everyone and add them to my show string.
My priority is building up as big a show herd as I can so that I am able to fund my business through showing and show earnings. By adding larger barns whenever I am able..it offers room to keep building up my show herd.

If I had a million hbs I would start by buying several high point show ponies to boost my overall game experience. After my show bonus would improve I would buy more barns so the foals my mares produce have somewhere to go. All of my non comparison tested studs would become tested. I would cull more of my mares and buy and breed more for exactly what I want.I would breed my high PT studs with PF mares to breed up a good show stock. I could also organize more by buying more barns. I would paper all of my breeding stock and cull further based on the results. I would also try to help others more, whether that be sending extra cash or horses and straws. All in all I would try to better my TOBY line.

If I had a million hbs, I already have a good chunk of IVs saved up so I'd convert the entire amount into IVs which I would then hold onto until I could afford a 1000 stall barn. That 1000 stall barn would then enable me to hold onto all of my pasture foals for the next few seasons which would give my show bonus a massive boost over the long run. The show bonus would let me expand my herd, buy more barns and introduce stricter comparison testing on my studs.

Up until now I have had to get rid of my snipped pasture foals due to space issues but no longer :D

Even if I don't win, this has allowed me to sit and contemplate a strong strategy for my barn.

Since I'm just breeding my misc horses for fun and know where I stand with my RS herd, I'd focus on my color herds and my clan herds.

I'd first focus on my color herds. I'd build up each herd to 2 stallions and 16 mares. I'd comparison test the stallions against each other and eliminate the weaker breeder and replacing him until I got two stallions of equal breeding ability. I repeat this for each herd. After insuring I'd have good stallions, I'd AFPT the mares over the next few seasons and whittle down the herd to the top 10 mares.

Next I'd look over my clan herds. I'd build up the herds to 1 stallion and 10 horses each. I'd comparison test the stallions against each other, eliminating and replace the weakest of them until I get all my stallions on equal footing.
Since I'm focusing more on color with these herds, I'd be less concerned with AFPTing my mares but will eliminate and replace any obvious stinkers.

The following generations of each herd would get similar treatment. Keep the top 2 stallions and the top 30 mares for my color herds, and keep 1 stallion and 20 mares for my clan herds. Herd sizes may be adjusted dependent on how in control of the numbers I feel.

Throughout this, I'd buy barns as I go to accommodate for space. I imagine I'll be doing a great deal of snipping and thus increasing my show herd. Overtime, this should increase my bonus enough to help me become a bit more self sustaining.

For myself, I would convert most of the 1mill into IVS to save for a 1000 stall barn for strictly show ponies. I have had so much help in this game from so many people, I would like for my show bonus to be big enough to be able to help others save for things they desire or need. I appreciate everything that everyone in this game has done for me, many people helped me achieve the goal of having Macchiato in my lines. I would like to be able to help someone else in the future. I would possibly also purchase a high quality, high gen stallion to breed for high PTd foals to give away to help other players with their show bonus.

If I were to win the million hbs I would invest it into improving my daily showing bonus, currently my showing bonus is just a measly 1008hbs (my show stock is still young), to do this I would buy the biggest barn I could which would be the 210 stall barn, as I have already got 8 ivs I would only need to buy 62 more, then with the remaining 225000hbs I would buy or breed the best show horses I can to fill the barn. In doing so this would help to increase my show bonus, which in turn I would invest in more ivs and more barns until I have a very healthy show bonus. Once that is complete I would be able to finally use the money I get to by gmt tokens to breed the horses I want, I would also be able to help out more players, I haven't got a lot to give people atm so I can only give away the occasional horse or straw to help people achieve their breeding goals, whilst also achieving my breeding goals.
The reason I put such a heavy emphasis on collecting show horses and gaining a good show bonus is because this game because a lot more productive when you have a steady income.

I'm sorry, it's not very imaginative so please bear with me, it's a little long winded.

So, to start off with, I want to build my show herd to increase my daily bonus. I currently have 958 show horses who net me in 36k per day. There's a potential 100 additional show horses from my breeding stock which will take time and energy to go through which I want to do before breeding my pastures again.

So, 1million works out as 80 IV's all in all. With that amount I have the opportunity to buy a singluar 210 barn and have 10 IV's left over. This gives me the chance to put into action phase two! That gives me the opportunity to move all the horses temporarly out of three 30 stall barns, and the two 15 stall barns. So that would be a move of 120 horses. Those barns can then be sold back to the game which will give me an additional 88 IV's, add in the 10 left and that brings it up to 98 IV's. That earns me another 210 stall barn. That also leaves me with 28 IV's left over. I currently am sitting on 9 IV's, and with another days bonus I'll have 12 IV. Add those current IV's I have with the IV's left I'll have 40 which is enough for a 120 stall barn for all the breeding stock I've moved over!

So with 1 million hb's and some liquidating I can create 420 additional exclusive show spaces, and a new 120 stall barn which'll keep mangaing my breeding stock horses easier. This also will allow me to keep most of my show potentials after breeding season!

If I were to recieve 1,000,000 hbs I would first start by spening 250,000 hbs on a new 60 stall barn. I would fill all 60 stalls with high pointed show horses which would cost around 200,000 hbs leaving me with 550,000 hbs and a massive show string. I would use the extra show bonus money to buy yet another 60 stall barn where I will store and show spayed and gelded horses with a PT between 9.9 and 10.4. Once a horse in this barn gets 500 points it will be donated to the Available To Adopt account or it will be given away to a random new player. Everyone on this game has been so kind and helpful so I feel donating high pointed show horses is a good way to give back this kindness. Even after all of this I would still have 550,000 hbs left. I would like to spend some of it most likely 100,000 hbs on comparison testing and another 100,000 hbs on expanding my White M and 8 line. I am going to start looking for a new stud for my Gen 3 Splash Tobiano line and I would love to be able to comparison test my new stud to the current stud and several foals in order to continue the great quality line I have already established. I may or may not treat myself to the simply sheets tack pack for 62,500 hbs as well. I believe in being prepared for the future because one never knows when they are going to start a new line lol, therefor I would save the remaining 287,500 hbs.

If I had 1,000,000 hbs, I would look to buy a top notch high Star stallion and repeat the uneven breeding experiment you are doing. I have bred the first generation this breeding season, but with a low star stallion. Anything left over would be used to put towards a barn.

If I had 1 mill, first off, I'd dance around the room. :)

Then it would go into IV's. I have a few good horses that I've been trying to GMT all month. I have gotten a few done but still have a few to go. All of my horses show but this month I did do a lot of comparison testing and a lot of gelding. The show only herd doubled. I'm always on the look out for more show horses and its about time for a new barn.

I'd love to be able to help out a new player by buying a show horse or two, to gift to them. :)

Wonderful idea for a contest! I admit, I'm getting a lot of strategy ideas from reading other people's answers.

I'm a fairly new player (started within the last six months or so), so my top priority has been building up my daily show bonus. Gradually, over the months, I've tried to save more and more of my foals so that I could invest in that bonus. I'm almost at 10k per day - just past 9500! As a newer player, I've had to do a fair bit of balancing as far as selling foals to get IVs to pay for barns to fit all these show ponies and keeping my foals as a show string. This past breeding season, I've tried to keep all of my altered foals for my show string. This has given me a good number of foals for my show string (over 300!) but I'm going to be desperate for barn space next season.

Up until this past month, I was fully employed and able to put real money into buying a few barns (especially when on sale!) Two weeks ago, I started veterinary school - which has been super exciting and kept me more than busy - but also means I'm enjoying ramen on a regular basis! A million HBs would definitely be invested in a show barn so I could keep building my daily bonus. The remainder would go into funding next year's breeding season.

Now if I won a million hbs, I would add that to what I have been saving up to get everything done next month and stop worrying over what I should do first and what should be delayed till later in the month. That being said the itinerary would include renewing my basic upgrade that expires soon and getting a new 210 stall barn to put foals in since I am mostly out of room again.
Then, since I wouldn't be stressing out about those anymore I would be able to breed without feeling guilty! Also, instead of using A stallions on all the girls my star boys won't be able to live cover, I would use lots of straws from my high star boy to get a better foal crop this year with my boot strapping project, since this year's foal crop will be turning breeding age the year my high star turns 17, so I want the best fillies with the most chances at golds I can get this year so I can have better broodmares to achieve the highest quality that last year or so before I loose my bootstrap boy and have to rely on what I got.
I would also be PT testing foals and hopefully will get enough higher PT scores to share some with other players, that way they hopefully will have some nice future show ponies, and I won't need another new barn so soon. XD
I should be able to do most of it, if not quite as many straw babies without it, I'll just have to try for more self discipline not to breed lots of foals too soon...haha

I think my show bonus is rising at a steady pace so if I had a million hbs, I would use it first to buy a couple new barns in order to expand my stable (for new foals). I'm always running out of space and I don't want to keep selling off horses every season to make room for the new babies. Then I would use it to breed all my pastures and test all my foals. Specifically comp testing my colts. I end up hanging onto so many colts for a whole season or snipping them because I don't have enough to comp test and I want to only breed or sell those I know are superior. Any remaining hbs would be saved or turned into IVs for future barn or GMT purchases :) I don't have any exact numbers or anything but I would plan it out before diving in, just so it works out the way i'd like it to.

Much like many other people here, I'd put it into IVs to get barns. I want to get one big, huge stall for my show horses. I have managed to save 12IVs this season, and would like a bigger barn for my show horses, as they are only in a 60 stall barn. I have been starting to keep more and more altered horses each season, and want to scroll through the auction to look for high ptd foals to see if I can snag one, or maybe buy a very high graded stallion to breed some of my own show stock. I have a RS and quite a few foundation mares that I want to sell, so should be able to complete that bit of my plan by myself, but I need more room! Then again, doesn't everyone? xD

What would I do with a million HBs? I would start by buying a new barn, a big one at that, so I would be able to throw all my show horses into one place and still have room for more. My main goal as of now is to get my show bonus above 4K, so I would probably invest in a good amount of high PT foals. I eventually want to make my stable self-sufficient with show horses and to do that I need one key thing- more space. Space is usually an issue for me, almost all my investments are in barns.

As for my breeding plans, I want to build a strong line. A at 2G, Star at 4G, those kind of things. I'm already trying to do that with my own stock and have bred a few horses already that fit the profile. Of course, I know all my lines can't be that nice, but I want to hold my main one to the highest standards. To do this I would like to invest in better stock.

Lastly, I would use the money to comparison test my studs. I always have way too many and never have the money to test them all. This usually results in me hoarding studs because I'm afraid I will lose a gem.

Well I just won the 250k lotto so now have a 120 show barn 30 foal barn and 15 stud barn.
I would still definitely sell my 120 use the money to buy more ivs and make it a 210 barn and still grab my other 30 barn for Foals.
Would be able to buy a gmt or 2 and some DP horses and show ponies now :P

If I had million hb's I would use it to buy more show horse barns as I'm currently running out of room, I would also use it to comp test some colts I've been meaning to test for awhile, then when all that is done I might buy some gmt's for any possible future projects I decide to do, anything left over will be saved for breeding next season

If I had a million hbs, I'd start by expanding my barns. I find I run out of space way too fast and I need space for show horses. I would also increase the amount of GMTing, more to make more horses consistent than for flashy colors. I can breed flash right now, I need consistency to increase the effectiveness of my show stock. After that was said and done, I'd use any leftover to help out the newer players. I see a lot of posts asking for aide, either through buying extra horses from players whose barns are full to others offering sales for project fundraisers, and I'd like to help out somehow. Others on here have helped me out from time to time and I like to return the favor :)

As a new player with no way to buy anything with real money, I'd invest in a basic upgrade, a barn or two and some breeding/show stock. I don't think I would go for fancy colours, or wast money on rank specials, (unless ammit had shared them with me, Lol!) just breeding good show horses.

If I had a million HBs, I would focus it on improving my daily show bonus. I am a new player that can't spend real money, so I have difficulty in getting enough room for a good show herd. With that much money, I would convert some to iv's and purchase a new barn just for show ponies. I would then go on a spending spree and buy as many higher point horses as I could. My daily bonus is just under $1000, so I could use all the help I could get!
Even if I get the second or third prize, I would use that money to improve my show herd. I should still be able to get a barn, although a smaller one, and scrounge up some show ponies to stuff in it. My current show herd is lacking. I have only a handful of proven show horses, the rest are young horses from my breeding that are doing well but are still quite young.

If I had a million bucks, oh the things I could do! First I would buy 30 IV and get a 1 year basic upgrade! This would increase my weekly pay enough to save bucks for future IV upgrades (like barns and tack packs) and also would open up more features of the game for me. This in turn would allow me to build and concentrate on my breeding program more rather than scrambling for money every week. I have 3 rank special brindle horses and a nice collection of dun mares and I am excited to try for a herd of brindle dun!

I have recently been working on switching my breeding policies from that of a beginner breeding for all the flashy pretties to that of a long-term player breeding for quality and experimenting on what works for getting intact foals. I'm also trying to build my show herd to get my showing bonus up. I have more extensive plans written out that I've already been working towards, starting with breeding season and merging my other account (cherokee86) with this one. This season I plan to build up my show herd with pretty spelds (since I would absolutely love to get my showing bonus to a level where it will actually help me!), then I want to merge my two accounts which will cost me 18 Ivs. After I do all my breeding this month and merge, I plan to do some serious culling of my breeders and do a lot of testing to narrow down to higher quality horses. 1 million hbs would help me greatly with testing all my horses and comparison testing my studs so I can only keep the best and snip the rest to be show ponies. After I cull my herd and narrow down my lines to produce the best pairings, I have plans to start two high-quality lines in honor of my two horses that I was forced to sell. The first is a grulla splash line for my mare, Cherokee, and the second is a bay dun line for my colt, Tucker. I want to be one of the players that helps out the newer players by giving away high-quality horses and helping them towards their breeding goals.

If I won a million HBs, I'd probably start off with buying more barns and then either buying some show ponies or keeping a few seasons worth of foals so I could get a better show bonus. Then I'd focus on having different herds instead of just one little herd of random ponies. I could have a few small barns for separate things I want to breed for and if needed, I'm sure I could get some eggs/straws from some great horses to improve my herds.

I would upgrade my brooding barns and create a new barn for my kit m herd :) I'd be able to finish my gmt project on my foals and get to my goal of having even bred star/gold horses with high PT scores available to the public for sale :) and give new members a great pair of horses to breed so they can work on bumping up their daily bonus and produce great horses that they can keep or sell :)

If I were to win the 1 million hbs I would scream first.

I would buy the biggest barn I could afford. I then would fill it up with show ponies. I then would buy the basic upgrade since I have just a free account. That way I could comparison and PT test all of my horses. The next thing I would do is look at buying a nice sport pony since that is my main breeding line on this account. I would love to buy a BBTS stud to go with my BBTS mare. Right now my bonus is 135 hbs.

If I won the million, I think I'd have to pinch myself.

Being a newer player there's quite a bit that I would like to do. By far I'd need to look into buying a large barn for show horses. I have a lot of horses that don't pass testing who make decent show horses, but I can't keep them unless they're exceptional. This would help to build my show bonus which currently sits around 2.5k. This sadly will be going down soon though as my high point horses are at that age where they'll be gone any time now.

Besides a pretty new barn and pretty new show horses, I would really like to work on sorting out my current breeding herd and decide on what I'd ultimately like to do breeding wise. Currently, I keep whoever I can that I've created or bred in order to make money at auction because otherwise, I don't have anything to work with.
The remainder of the money I would put towards eventually helping out people where I can, which is something that I'd really like to do.

If I won the 1 million dollars I would be stunned.

No seriously though I would be very thrilled. I would first start out by buying another barn the biggest one I could afford to buy. I would put all of my show ponies I have right now in it. That way some of my smaller barns are freed up to put the foals in. I then would find some more high pointed show ponies to put in my barns as well because most of my high pointed ponies will be aging out of the game in the next two months or so. I would need to try to replace them before that happens.

I then would look at my Dream and Nexus line and compare sons to sire and also to their brothers so that I only keep the very best colts to carry on that line. I have been wanting the lusucious long mane and tail and if I could afford it after that then I would splurge to get it.

Something else I would want to do is to help others out as I have been helped out on here as well. I hope to one day get to the point where I can donate my high pointed horses to ATA's program. They help so many people out and I want to contribute to what they do.

My ultimate goal is to have quality horses and to be self sustaining so that I can be of help to new and old players.

You guys have so many good plans, and there are so many deserving people in the group, I don't know how I will pick! Keep the good ideas coming, and it you want to edit your plan between now and the 5th because you have a better idea feel free to do so. I am definitely going to do something like this again, in a few months when my HB account recovers.

The money transfers will be done by placing a horse up for sale for the amount won, normally transferring large sums of money is frowned upon, but I'm hopeful Ammitt will give me her blessing.

What would I do with a million hbs.
First off I would buy a large barn for show ponies. I just reached a 5000hb daily showing bonus and I am over the moon excited and I can't wait to boost it up even more. A 200 stall barn to fill with show ponies would be a great start to upping my show bonus.
Second, I would work on GMTing foundation horses. I would love to start my satin, white m, white 8, and ice lines from scratch. I have a good amount of all four but most horses are very uneven. I have never GMTed a horse before and would have so much fun playing around with the lab.
Third, I would comparison test many of my stallions and find the best sires for each generation and color. I sort through my studs constantly but I never have enough to comparison test them and so I am just estimating which are high or low Bs/As. Paired with that I would paper my mares and sort through the ones that don't meet the standard.
Fourth, I would buy a couple larger barns for my breeding stock. I only have one pasture and it is hard getting mares in and out for breeding. I would start a barn for each line so that I know exactly where each of my horses are. Hopefully I would be able to breed and sort more efficiently.
And lastly, just for fun, I would buy the luster dust pack. I love the way it looks on horses and how you can use a specific color to make the coat pop.
These are my long term goals and I am sure one million hbs would not complete all of these tasks but it would be an amazing start. Thanks for such a fun give away! It was great to just write everything down.

If I won 1mil HBs I would fight the urge to buy the new tack pack. Which would be hard, really really hard. But I'll manage. In the meantime my foundation program has 3 months left and then I'll have 4 months before my 2nd gen kicks it into high gear. I am running out of space but with the money I currently have plus 1mil plus turning in my 30 stall and 60 I would be buy to get 360 stalls in total. I can go through and geld most of my foundation studs and through them into my 120 stall show barn. It still has some room to fill and I'm almost to 1000 daily bonus. In fact when I'm waiting for my 2nd gen to age I'll reduce my foundation studs to one and breed for auction. When 2nd gen starts I can throw all my foundation mares into auction as well. It's looking like I'll have over 100 mares for my 2nd gen. I would try to pair it down except I've got at least 10 2nd gen studs. I'll work on pairing my 3rd gen down. I already use SBA and stallion comparison and papering. And while I do have a lot of flashy colors in this line I'm working towards */Gold horses and am not afraid to cull for quality.

I also just started a line of what will eventually be blue eyed homozygous black horses. I was thinking on making them fully patterned but I really like the look of minimal splash on them so I am going to have to overhaul that breeding program before it goes too far. I've got 50 foundation mares, I can either switch them all out for black splash or just breed them to black splash studs and weed the foals, I'm already culling anything not EE. This project is going to take a while to get to 2nd gen simply because of how few foals I can keep each season.

I'd like to do something with the few RS I have. They don't really fit in my breeding program so I'm essentially saving eggs and straws each season. I'll eventually have to figure something out, possibly creating embryos to mix in with my main line.

So what would I use 1mil HBs on? Space and testing, like everyone else.

There are so many things I would like to do if I won 1mil but I would probably start with comparison testing some of my colts to weed out the lower quality and turn them into more show ponies. I want to try getting my quality up but never seem to have the funds for comparison testing. I also want to finish papering and testing any that I havent gotten around to yet. I would also try to save back some to help a new player as so many helped me when I got started! I would also try to buy more show ponies to help get my bonus up faster and possibly a barn or two if needed. If I had enough left after testing and everything I would save up for more gmts to bring horses consistent and change genes on some that I wanted to inherit those certain genes from their parents for my lines. I only gmt those who paper where I want them to.

Good luck to everyone and what an interesting post!

I have been playing nearly a year and have changed my mind so many times on what direction to go in and to be honest I have still not decided. That's why I started a new account who could at least concentrate on one thing!
This account plays around with pretty colours deciding which white spotting I like (the answer is all of them!), and then finding this DP thing and going mad with all the dark chestnuts I can find to make some livers (and then seeing hom DP makes them black and going mad with that!).
I like sooty browns too but I end up making loads of bays instead - but then they are pretty as well so I keep them all anyway. I breed evenly for gen, then evenly for paper, then for both and then I pop in a high A stallion and find loads of high PT pretties for showing and occasionally some pretty blues who pass BA and a smile crosses my face for the next few days - wish she was in a colour I breed for - never mind I always did like appys didn't I?
I also trawl through auctions, curse that I am on a different time zone and can't stay awake all night to put that last bid on - in the morning someone has pipped me by 1k! Damn!
Then I look at foundation rescue, but I don't want chestnut or bays! Then I remember Chilli (my other account) and log her in and buy some chestnuts and feel all better again:) And if I am really lucky make a liver for her! Keep posting those DC and SFC HHs!
I also lurk sometimes waiting for a good HH and then it pops up while I go make a cup of tea and it's been pinched :D Although to be fair I have done ok from them. ;)
So what do I do with 1mil. Not sure... have some more fun playing a game I love!
Oh and while I'm on a roll - thank you to all the many people on here who help and are so kind - even when I have a dumb moment and send the wrong horse to auction.

What would I do with 1 million HB's? I have so much things I could use it for. I have a stallion who needs some GMT work so that I can start a S+ brown DP line. I also need more breeding pastures so I can continue to separate my breeding lines and allow the mares to have a full pasture bonus to create the best foals they can. My goal is always the same with all my line. To crate the best horses I can and provide them for sale at a reasonable price for new players to help them create their own lines.
