New GMT Option for Lined Horses
-
I'm curious if anyone knows how the new GMT options for height/bone work for lined horses. With genes, lined horses can only be GMTed with genes the parents have. But, sires and dams can throw a spectrum of heights or weights. Are there any restrictions on how height/weight can be changed on lined horses?

I think a horse can go as tall or as short as mom or dad. So say the mom and dad are both 15.2 the foal can only go as tall as 16.1 so it's a .3 difference taller then parents or shorter then parents so say both parents are 16.2 the tallest the foal can get is 17.1 so again .3 inches shorter or taller then parents and I think there is a wider range with weight because if you have a warmblood you can jump from warmblood to draft if the warmblood is between 2.00 and 2.50 bone if the warmblood is between 2.00 and 1.50 it can be riding horse or warmblood I think. At least this is what I got from GMTing weight and height I could be wrong though. :) hope that made sense someone please correct me if I'm wrong lol

Here is an example of possible range of height change from the lab.
Added Glory 2, a 13.2 filly with two pony parents--sire 13.3, dam 13.1.
--Bone weight: filly 1.93, sire 1.97, dam 2.0
Height change ranges from 12.3 to 14.1, up to 1 hand (4 inches) shorter than her sire to 1 hand taller than her dam.
Bone weight change ranges from 1.69 to 2.29.
So, she can be made taller or shorter, or have a .69 spread in available bone density weights, but she will remain a sport pony.
So if the parents are hugging the line between pony and horse, or two builds, the options may allow going up or down from the foal's original measurement, but I'm not willing to make a prediction not based on checking out the Gene Lab.

Interesting! So, a cross between, say a draft and warmblood produced a draft, you should be able to GMT it to a warmblood but not a sport horse. That does make sense!
Thank you! -
I think you can turn a warmblood to a sport pony depending on height and how short the warmblood is. The shorter the warmblood the more likely it can be turned into a sport pony oh the parents have to be short warmblood to I think

As it says in the post (or should) You can GMT to anything that was a possible option to show up at birth.

It doesn't say anything in post about possible options, only:
