No new horse *EDIT* She's coming on sunday!
  • So I'm either incredibly brave or stupid. Just purchased an ottb called Stickleback who is a chestnut mare <- hence brave or stupid. I need a stable name for her. I'm hopefully going to start pairs dressage with Pen on North. My last tb I renamed JD because at the time it was my favourite drink, my current favourite tipple is s*x on the beach so I might name her peach. She's an orangey red chestnut (I will get pictures once she's delivered) so peach would fit. I dunno though.. <br />
Edited title, reason in last comment.
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Orangey red lol basically copper
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Beach Babe? Surfer Girl? Good luck with your new girl!
  • Coppertone? The sunscreen I mean.
    Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
  • Congratulations on your new horse! I knew a copper chestnut gelding whose registered name was Sawman. I hope your mare has better manners than he did!

I like the name Peach, or Tangerine. Once she is delivered and you get to know her for a few days, would you describe her personality to us?
Looking for Appaloosas? Check out my Riata account.
  • I'm allergic to sun creams so I've never heard of coppertone @Cherrs.

@Alohomora I'll have plenty of pictures and will definitely describe her.

If she's a typical chestnut tb mare she's getting called ginger b*tch
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
    Thanked by 1Alohomora
  • Congratulations! I bet she'll be nice. Let us know! We call the red orangey mare at the barn Fanta.
Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
  • Apparently it's an American brand as well, James. If you Google Coppertone Girl you can see the logo, which involves a puppy pulling down a little girl's bathing suit bottoms (old style) or tugging on her sundress (new style).
  • I'm a massive fan of the OTTB! I'm sure y'all will do great together!
  • PeachBlosson? It's the name of an orney warhorse in a book. Although he was a gelding and a roan, I think...
Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
    Prices are almost always negotiable.
  • There's always Peachy Keen too...
  • I think you should call her Sunshine and Light. You are TOTALLY starting off on the wrong foot! :P Ooo, look! Jodie Foster was a Coppertone girl! https://www.google.com/#q=coppertone+girl (the video on the description is a yawner, though)

  • Congrats! I think Peach is a cute name. :)
  • Hooray for red headed mares. I dont own one personally but I love one and tolerate another :))

    But congratulations!
  • I could call her Red Hare from dynasty warriors, that horse is big, fast and red
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Or go with shades of / things that are red lol

Scarlet, Carmine, Crimson, Carnelian, Russet, Garnet, Ruby

Merlot or Sangria since your last horse was named after alcohol :)
  • I love Peach!Don't let the stereotype precede her - I just got a red OTTB mare as well. I love her more every time I work with her. It can be challenging, but so worth it!
  • @moonacre "tolerate" :)) I also love one very, very dearly and tolerate the other lmao.

The one mare in the Saddle Club books(I'm old...) was named Garnet. And Ginger from Black Beauty. I love me some red head mares. :)

Her stable name is fish (for now) and she is extremely laid back, I actually know a cob with more go than her. She's 8 and ran her last race beginning of June (stickleback if you want to Google her)
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Aww I can't share my pics
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • I've used tinypic to share pictures here before and it worked!
    Thanked by 1JamesBayMemorial
  • I'll give it a try. Thank you

  • Yay they worked!
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Oh she's a cutie! Love her "been there done that" attitude in the second pic.
  • She's pretty. I saw more picture's of her on Micky Hammond Racing tweeter. I love her blaze. I think the Rat Pack Racing club is kind of cool too and would probably call her Sinatra or Sina just because of that. It can do double duty if your a Hunger Games fan too though Cinna and Frank Sinatra are both men lol.
  • I didn't know she was on there. I'm going to have a look. She's really laid back. Still waiting for her to arrive though as delivery is when they're passing by my yard
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Part of your difficulty posting pictures is that Photobucket has recently decided it can't afford having direct links to images on accounts there any more. They are looking for a $400 annual payment to allow it to continue!

Ammit uses Imgur, I believe, so you may want to check that out, if you do a lot of linking.

I've had a paid account at pbase.com since long before I started playing Hunt and Jump. It costs me $23 a year for up to 1000mb of photo storage. Since I try to carefully control the size of my images there, I'm a long way from using up my first 1000.

  • So it's just not to be. The owners are being very quiet and I'm sick of having to message them so I'm not buying her. I'm not chasing anyone for a horse, may seem like a moody so and so, but if someone wants to sell a horse they tend to keep in constant contact with the buyer
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Ginger! Like the gorgeous chestnut in Black Beauty
  • @Masquerade doesn't really matter now as I'm not getting her
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • Bummer
Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
  • I'll find another, hopefully closer to home

  • It always makes me nervous when I seller is quiet or to pushy. I was going to buy a Friesian from over seas but their was something off I just felt about the seller. He would not talk to me over the phone, only email. When I called the transport company they confirmed they had pick up orders but not to pay for him until they had him in their hands. He never did make it into their hands. Oh well, your right there are many more out there.
  • @fj1482 it seemed as though I had to push them for info and answers. When I was selling my trailer tent (not a horse but same principle) I was in constant contact with the buyer. They asked a question about it and I replied as soon as I could, not days later after asking the question again like the woman selling the horse. It's been about 3 days since I asked about when the earliest was that they could deliver, no reply, they don't even know where I'd want her delivered to.
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • So the seller was trying to arrange transport and didn't bother to get in touch, but, she's getting delivered on Sunday and I'm keeping the name fish
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
