Can someone explain papers to me? I'm relatively new and have only recently upgraded, and would like to know more about how that works. I have a general idea but still.

Papers indicate breeding quality of horses. From the bottom to top you have;
Stallion - Mare
Showable Only - Failed
C - Yellow
B - Red
A - Blue
*Star - *Gold
It's best to breed equal breeding ability together to get the best shot at an intact foal that can past testing. So if you have a Red papered mare it's best to breed her to a B papered stallion. Higher quality horses tend to have higher quality foals which can either be good showers, breeders or both :)
Horses that don't pass breeding advice or fail in papering can be pretty good show horses so sometimes it's worth holding onto them. These two failed their breeding advice but have made some nice points as show ponies.
