Not quite a black liver, but to me darker than a regular liver? I'm going to say homozygous but not sure..he's a bit in between! B-)

Just out of curiosity :D He is not worth boosting/breeding from as a he's a C papered (not to mention inconsistent!) G2 so not fussed either way.

I'm going to say homo DP and that he's possibly lighter because of the Cprl. I only just started playing with that gene though so I'm not sure if that is what makes him look a little lighter. I'm going to go with that. Hopefully someone with experience with the Cprl gene can comment on my opinion on that gene.

yes I think the pearl is making him a tad bit lighter I think he is hom DP

I have a 2g Yellow Hom DP Liver girl who I will be using to experiment height with and see how the Foals height is decided :P
Would have to wait till after auction though :)

Pearl is recessive and requires two copies or a copy of cream to have any affect on the coat. All colors have a range of shades.

I added het pearl with no cream to my filly yesterday and her coat did turn lighter I watched it turned lighter because I used a GMT

It probably rerolled the portrait and gave her a new shade unrelated to having pearl. Pearl is recessive, which means that it won't show unless there's two copies. It's simple genetics. Just like red doesn't show unless it has two copies (ee) or flaxen (ff).

@kassie I actually do think het Pearl with no cream does slightly lighten the coat. Just a shade or two and often within the range of natural expression, but I do think it has a slight effect. It's incompletely dominant (unlike red and flaxen which have simple dominance) so it would make sense for it to have a slight effect when heterozygous.

@AztectArabians Just as a heads up, as per my studs breeding rules, that colt needs to be snipped :) Only B papered colts may remain intact.

I notice just in my own that it seems to light them up just a tad. It could be coincident and just within the normal range of natural stuff like Cheers says but at least for mine it seems to lighten them up a tad. It doesn't give them that pearly color like when it is homo though.
