Which parent carries dp?
-
So i got this unexpected liver.. mum only has 1 sooty so quite possibly could be the dp carrier but i just didnt think she looked dark enough.. thoughts??
G2 moonspot letmesleepBreeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.
Also breeder of mushroom, watercolour, chinchilla, splash m, wrong warp and thunderstruck.
Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
Mom could carry it, but so could the sire. DP is not a gene that can be tested, and it's hard to know who has it, when the sire is black based (and it doesn't show), and with her body all white, the only part of her body to look at is her head, which looks kinda dark for a horse with only 1 Sty gene, (my opinion), so it is hard to tell.

Her dam (Mum) carries the DP gene, the foal before yours is a Black Chestnut (all 4 darkening alleles present) which means she is a carrier.
You can never really know with black based horses (EE/eE/Ee) unless you breed them to red based horses (ee) and find the allele present, or there is a history of DP in the family lineage. :DAztecArabians
