Three Questions
  • Pasture bonus- what does it do? How long does it stay after you take your horses out of the pasture? General information please

XP- how do you earn it? Can you lose XP? Is it used for anything other than earning extra stalls?

Pluses- I have noticed pluses next to some horses paper levels. Is C+ better than C? It leaves once you click the link, but if it is in a list, it shows.

  • The pasture bonus applies to mares who are kept in the pasture. Each day they are kept in the pasture, they acquire more of a bonus, and reach the maximum pasture bonus when they have been in there for 30 days. Mares with full pasture bonus are more likely to contribute from the 'higher end' of their breeding ability.
The pasture bonus only lasts for as long as the mare is kept in the pasture. The moment you take her out, she loses it. So in order to maintain it, she must be bred in the pasture.
Stallions do not acquire pasture bonuses, you only put them in the pasture to breed.

XP is gained by breeding and creating horses. It can be lost when you sell horses back to the game, or the auction bidder (when they go through the auction with no bids). It gives you an extra stall when you earn a certain amount of XP. Losing XP doesn't have any negative affects other than it taking a bit longer to earn that extra stall. As far as I know, the amount of XP required to earn a bonus stall doesn't change regardless of how many bonus stalls you have earned. (i.e. it doesn't get harder to earn bonus stalls).

As for the pluses, it's not something I have noticed myself, so I can't shed any light on that one. Maybe someone else can?
  • The pluses appear when you're looking at a horse's pedigree. It just means that that horse in the pedigree has additional ancestors that don't fit on the screen.
  • Thank you both, that was very helpful :)
  • To see those additional ancestors, click on the View Full Pedigree link above the pictured ancestors. It can be a pain to read, since the vertical spread of the information quickly reaches beyond the size of most monitors or viewing screens, but the full pedigree past 4th generation is accessible.
De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

  • XP is not lost if you sell a horse back to the game for 1000hb. It is lost if you sell a horse any other way. (Not 100% sure about the Fantasy Gene sell back but assume you lose XP that way).

This means there is a weigh off between gaining the extra hbs for selling a horse at auction vs keeping your XP towards stalls but making fewer hbs.

I think if you sell enough of your herd, you will lose stalls.

  • You only lose stall XP if you sell a horse to the auction bidder via the public auction and if you use the fantasy gene sell back.
