Who should I use my Meteoric straw on?
  • I can't decide which of my girls to use my straw on. So Who do you think?
I might add a few more in a bit. These are just my mares that carry pearl. Haven't put to much thought into my selection yet (besides the pearl)

  • I love the coloring of the first mare. :x
  • Well recently their has been a bunch of foals getting snipped and I'd say try and fine your best foundation mare and only ba test but I'd recommend you get a boost token and a gmt token (in case they get snipped) but try to find a mare that'll always produce intact foals also :) my little boy got snipped but I also boosted him and still got snipped but I had my gmt token to save him. That's the only untested horse that I'll keep intact
  • Try to find a PF or expro mare, that would be your best bet!(It was for me, but then again I gave the same info to Oak and her foal was snipped. Also make sure it papers yellow and is a foundie!)
  • I was told by a few of the more experienced members to use PF for the best chances of an intact foal.

  • Definitely not the Diamond Age mare. She has w2 which is lethal more often than not when combined with w3 or w10, so that's not a risk I would take with a straw that can't be replaced. There's also a small chance of a dead foal with the Good China mare since sb1 and w3 is a potentially lethal cross as well. The Good China is also an exceptional foundation while Mr Milestone is only a perfect foundation, so you might have a greater chance of an altered foal if you choose her since the parents would be uneven in breeding ability. The Wet n Wild mare should be completely safe with no risk of a dead foal, I don't see any potentially lethal genes on her and she's got Pearl like the Milestone stud which could make a pretty foal. King's Ransom mares are also a good choice since they normally don't have any potentially lethal genes and they've got DP and Pearl like Milestone so you can get some nice foals. Here's a link to the Kit mutation info if you want to look at it.

  • I went with a solid colored mare to be safe
  • @OakCreek13, most of the potential lethal crosses occur when the foal's Kit mutation load is too high for it to survive. The only Kit genes that are always totally safe to combine with any other Kit genes are Tobiano and roan. The Kit genes Mr. Milestone has are w3 and w10, so the only completely safe Kit genes to cross with him are roan, Tobiano, w20, and sabino 2. All the others have a potential chance at a dead foal.

The only other non Kit related lethal crosses are hom frame (not possible in this case since Milestone doesn't have frame), hom Splash 3, hom Splash 2 (not possible here either), or het Splash 3 het Splash 2. There are only a few foundations that have Splash 2 or Splash 3 since those genes are GMT only. There are lots of very flashy mares you can safely breed to Mr. Milestone. A mare with Tobiano, Rabicano, Appaloosa, ordinary splash, splash M, and frame would be safe to breed to Milestone even though she'd have a ridiculous amount of patterns because none of those genes are lethal when combined with Milestone's genes. On the other hand, a mare that has only white 1 and no other patterns doesn't look very flashy, but breeding her to Milestone would be a really bad idea since white 1 is highly lethal when combined with almost all other Kit genes.

My mare is literally just a solid chestnut. I just wish I knew why he had gotten snipped :/
  • @OakCreek13, you did everything you could to increase your chances of an intact foal, but there's random luck involved too. And breeding with straws or by hand will usually give you a lot more altered foals than pasture breeding since you don't get a pasture bonus. Breeding horses with the same level of breeding ability together will increase your chance of getting an intact foal, but there's nothing you can do to guarantee one. You can minimize your chances of an altered foal but you can never eliminate them completely. The only horses that are guaranteed to pass breeding advice are perfect foundations, exceptionally perfect foundations, and all RS horses.
  • Well in a couple more seasons I'll see how he produces :)
