Well this is disappointing.

So I got lucky and landed a wonderful liver colt. I was dead set on creating a herd for him to try and pop some liver babies. Well I gathered 7 mares that I thought fit the bill. Turns out that dark chestnuts look even darker on my kindle so it wasn't until last night when I got on my computer and just happened to look that I realized:
Not a single one of the mares I gathered had a shred of DP.
So I'm back at square one. Sure I could GMT DP but that's 2,500,000hbs I do not have and will not have by the time they hit breeding age or age out of GMTability.
At least I'm having better luck with my Gray and Wild bay herds.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

As long as they are stysty chestnuts I would just breed them to him. He has a 50/50 chance of passing on that DP and you should get some liver babies.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
-
Like kisababy said, as long as they're double ssty they'll at least be good breeders for DP babies.
-
That hurts just to read. I'm starting a DP line and have a few mares I could sell you eggs at cost next season.
I aslo have a hom wild bay chesnut foundation mare I'm not sure I want to keep. She's yours for 2500 if you want. -
Sure @seldomseen. But only if you're absolutely sure you want to part with her. As for the eggs, let me see how well I can hold onto some hbs lol.
@elementalstables and @kisababy, I was thinking of doing that only for the fact that the stysty mares are quite pretty. I used to kind of frown at having so many chestnuts in my barn but they're kinda growing on me.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

I have a couple of liver foundation mares if you would like me to pull some eggs for you next season? I also have a freaky friday mare who I can pull an egg from too :)
There's only 6!#4519 -
@seldomseen can you hold her until I get the funds? Blew my load for the day already. (I only get enough to buy 1 horse a day)
@bourbon since My herd are all still foals, I won't need the assistance for a few more seasons. I'd like to make a note on your offer and get back to you. Are eggs set up like straws? they don't expire unless you make them expire?Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.
Striving to become a quality Draft breeder. -
Pretty much Timber :) You need to combine them with straws and put them in a surrogate mare so you need a spare horse around to use it.#4519
-
Pffft. I have plenty of those. Couple of horses I held onto just to produce auction fodder.

It looks like you're going to have some pretty solid coloured horses! The little splash girl is pretty cute, I always love it when you get an extra special something with creates ;)#4519
-
I intend to merge this herd with a few appaloosas and w1/w2 horses down the line to attempt to get some patterned livers.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

@Timber no problem. I too spend the money faster than I can make it, lol.
-
@Timber, only premium upgrades can use eggs. Basic upgrades can do embryo transfer, but you need to own the mare in order to create an embryo from her. Or you could send a straw to someone and have them create an embryo from a mare and then sell the embryo to you, because basic upgrades can buy and sell embryos. I think the game allows basic upgrades to purchase eggs but you will won't be able to use them unless you get a premium.
-
Huh usually it blocks out anything requiring an additional upgrade by telling me I need an upgrade. It's just telling me I don't have enough money. Which I don't. *whistles* 8000 to create an embryo using a mare and 2000 to use and egg and straw and transfer it to a surrogate mare. that on top of the fees to flush eggs and pull straws. Test tube babies are not flippin cheap.
Also purchasing eggs and not being able to use them is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I hope ammit is not that cruel.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Under the basic upgrade description:
"Full advanced breeding lab access including straws, eggs and embryo transfer."
So I can use eggs. I just can't collect them.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Timber I sent a little present over. It should show in your transactions. ;)
-
*kisses computer screen* That's for you @Bluejumpinbean! And for all of the people who have bombarded me with mares, eggs and straws! Thank you so much!Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

That should let you buy Seldom's mare, with a little extra!
-
You know, if you had told me a year ago that I would have equine reproduction specimens hurled at me and it make me happy. I would have called the cops.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Lol!! Me to
-
I copied this from the Sell a straw/egg page of the advanced breeding lab. Level 3 and level 5 are old terms for upgrades, where level 5 is referring to a premium upgrade. I know the game allows free accounts to purchase straws but they can't actually use them unless they get an upgrade, and it sounds like eggs work the same way only you need to have a premium upgrade.
Sell A Straw/Egg
To sell a straw/egg you will need to enter the user id of the member you want to sell to and the amount you wish to sell the straw for. The buyer may decide to accept or reject your offer. Any member can purchase a straw but only level 3's and up can use them. Any member can purchase an egg but only level 5's can use them. If you would like to remove a straw/egg from your list and permanently delete it, sell to use ID #7 for any amount. The straw/egg will be deleted from your account. -
Alright then never mind. It's kinda expensive to do it like that anyway. Way more expensive than I can handle.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

The offer to buy a straw shows up on your stable home page so free accounts can accept the offer and purchase a straw, they just can't access it or use it. I've seen several free players buy straws and then post in the help me out section because they can't figure out how to use the straws they purchased.
-
Oi, 2000 to make the embryo then 4000 implant it too flippin much anyway. I'm not that desperate for Livers. For those offering eggs, I can't accept them.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

You can almost always find a Freaky Friday stud for use.Or on my back up I will have some mares you can use(SstySsty)
-
The upgrade page does says that basic upgrades will have access to eggs so there's some contradicting information here. Maybe basic upgrades can buy eggs and just not pull any from their own mares? Has anyone with a basic upgrade bought an egg and were you able to use it?Thanked by 1Timber
-
That's how I started :) I got a foundation liver boy and a ton of dark chesnut girls. I'm still working on going through my other lines. I now have a HOM DP boy that I am in love with. He might be the stud to replace my other liver boyThanked by 1Timber
-
Huh. I guess I'll keep at it then. Thanks for the info @raintree.
@windwardfarm, I never have enough money to play in the advanced breeding lab so I couldn't tell you. I guess since most times eggs and straws don't expire(unless told to do so), they'll just stick around until you decide to indulge yourself with a premium upgrade, which I may do one day just for a taste.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Timber, remind me to tell my story of picking up horse semen at the San Diego airport! (It was from the very famous jumper Abdullah!)
-
I will sell you these 3 foundation liver mares for 3k each, if you like:

Is it a forum appropriate story or should it be taken to private messaging?
I can buy those horses over the next three days. Good grief, my liver is gonna be one lucky boy with all these females.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.
Striving to become a quality Draft breeder. -
Nah, the story is just kind of ew.
You know how, when they ship cooled semen straws they used to use the big 5 gallon buckets to keep all the insulation in, etc? (I have no idea if they still do that! It's been YEARS!)
Well, I made the mistake of going to the shipping airline counter at San Diego and asking where I would go to pick up my "bucket of semen? Horse semen." Boy oh BOY did I get some strange looks! Before I left I had to take the bucket back to the counter and explain!
The mare owner got a nice gray colt out of the deal, though!
There was also the Ralphs that used to have to supply us with Fleets enemas by the CASE during foaling season. That wasn't embarassing at all! :PThanked by 1HunterUnderSaddleGirl -
I will put the mares up in my chat room for you to get when you can.
-
Oh good grief. Its not like its new information that horse semen, eggs, etc are transported just like human specimens (organs, poop samples, etc) I wonder why people are still so taken aback by it. I mean that has to come up at some point in airline employee training right?Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.
Striving to become a quality Draft breeder. -
They thought I meant a bucket, full to the brim, with horse semen.
-
Okay, 1987 I can see there being some question about. But in today's era, I would seriously not bat an eye at someone trying to transport an actual bucket bucket full of semen via airline. Though I'm sure the TSA agents would have something to say.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

@Timber when he's ready, I could put one of my Rhythm of Four mares up for you. I've got two.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable. -
@Obsidian that would be great. I might take you up on it this season and have my Fuel to the Fire have a turn.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.
