hmm i didn't think she had a lot of white genes, guess i should choose another mare to use

@jezmynespice1 I think she might be ok though. I thought w20 could be potentially lethal with w3 and w10 but I just double checked and it's actually ok. Tobiano is safe, I'm almost positive splash and splash 3 are safe together, and I don't know about macchiato but I don't think it's lethal either.

@jezmynespice1 w20 is only lethal with w2 and w1 when the foal has extensive white factor, and tobiano is only lethal with w1 when the foal has extensive white factor. Mr. Meteoric has neither w2 nor w1, so you're fine there. I think the only splash gene that's lethal is splash 3 when homozygous, which only Mr. Meteoric has in this pairing, so the foal would be heterozygous at best and would live. Ammit has explicitly stated that SpM does not have lethal interactions. All in all, I think she's a safe bet.

@WindwardFarm @Coeur sb1 is not lethal with w10 at all, I think you looked at w1 :) Mr. Meteoric does have w3, though, which is lethal with sb1 if the foal has an extensive white factor. It's a small risk, but it's there.

or my fairly plain Texas Tea mare, although she seems the riskiest (even though she has no white factor)

@Sunlit Why would you consider Songs of Yore the riskiest? Looking at all of the three genomes, I can't see anything risky about any of them for Mr. Meteoric.

Splash 2 is homozygous lethal as well and it's also lethal when combined with Splash 3. Thanks for the sabino correction, I was looking at w1. :) Although, it's potentially lethal with w3 and the straw isn't replaceable so why risk it when you have 2 other mares you're considering that don't have any lethal genes?

@Sunlit, the 2 RS mares are perfect foundations so they have identical breeding ability. Neither of them has any potentially lethal genes when crossed with Milestone so they would both be good choices. You said the second mare is a perfect foundation but she didn't come from a PF herd helper and she wasn't purchased from foundation rescue, so I don't think that's necessarily true. Personally, I would choose the Kings Ransom mare because they have DP and so does Milestone so you can get some really neat colors that way.

Totally didn't know that about splash 2! Though the mare has splash 1, which isn't lethal. And I agree that for such a special occasion, even small risks are too much!

Also, I've known about this horse... Is it alive only because the homozygous splash 2 is due to GMTing? (Sorry this question is off topic for this forum!)

Yes, he's alive with hom Splash 2 because he was GMTd. You can have 2 copies of a gene that's normally homozygous lethal if you GMT them onto a foundation. You could take any GMTable foundation and make it hom frame or hom Splash 2 and it would survive, but any of its foals that are hom frame or hom splash 2 will still die like normal horses do. For example, Freaky Fridays survive even though they are hom frame but if you breed 2 of them together you will always get a dead foal, assuming one of the parents didn't have its frame removed. It'd be kind of neat if foals inherited the ability to survive hom lethal genes from their parents, but it's not realistic at all so I totally see why that doesn't happen.

Yes I GMTed the hom Splash 2 on Freaky Dreamer G1 not knowing it was lethal hom it didn't say it in the lethality chat witch is a bummer because I took off his double frame to prevent dead foals and put on splash 2 not knowing it's lethal hom
