I'm in need of hbs at the moment and have been saving up for an upgrade, so I'm selling all my rank specials. I'm going to price them at 100k so I can reach my goal faster. Thank you in advance!

Why are the two boys left been gelded? You won't get 100k for a gelded boy (Unless they buy it by mistake)

They don't fail....People can choose to geld them

From what I can understand they can't. Maybe the person who bred them didn't like them and thought they'd be better as show horses? Their records show they were put in auction and picked up cheap (3050 for one, 2700 for the other)

I have a couple that I have retired to my showing heard and gelded them myself...I have never heard of one not passing testing or they wouldn't be special lol

I wonder if the current owner got them cheap from the auction because they had already been gelded. That would explain why they were sold to the current owner for such low prices. Now, I don't understand why the current owner had them priced at 100k unless they were hoping that someone else would purchase them thinking that they were still intact. Or maybe the current owner never realized they were gelded in the first place. Although, even if they were intact 100k would still be pretty expensive since these 2 are C papered and not exceptional and are both 12 or 13 years old. It looks like they were voted down though so hopefully they won't be put back up for high prices again.

I didn't geld either of them and accidentally bought them in the auction without realizing they were gelded. Thank you for your concern everyone. I just realized they were gelded *face-palm*. Thought I got a good deal on Rank Specials, just my luck lol.

Depending on where they've leveled off and how many points they already have, you might have still gotten a good deal on them. Older show horses that can earn you significant amounts of points and hbs are usually a lot more than 3k so they might end up being good money earners for you.

@OakCreek13, you can only unalter horses that you bred yourself, so they can't be unaltered since the current owner isn't the original breeder. This prevents people from unaltering horses that the owner spayed or gelded before selling because the breeder thought they were too low quality to remain intact, or maybe the breeder just doesn't want intact horses from their lines owned by other people.

@ConvivialityFarm I'm sure no thought you were trying to rip anyone off. I nearly purchased them and just happened to read that they were gelded. It's not a common thing to do to an RS. I will purchase them for 10k each to go into my show heard, if that will help you out at all?

I'd like to say thank you to everyone who bought these horses, because I made way more than I set out to! Thank you all so much! I finally was able to upgrade and still have lots left!

@ConvivialityFarm, I didn't think you were trying to rip anyone off and I hope my post didn't come off that way! If it did, I apologize. I assumed that you had purchased them from auction thinking they were intact and had never realized that they had actually been gelded. I've purchased a stallion thinking that it was a mare, so at least you had the gender right. :) I'm glad you were able to get your upgrade! And now you can use your Milestone straw next season!
