What mare in your barn is getting/got the straw? Why did you choose her? Was color, generation, paper level or PT a factor in choice? I am really curious about what mares other people are using and why. I could just check the stallions page, I know, but I thought others may be curious and it could be a good guide for players not so sure about breeding.

I purchased a StySty dark bay mare because Im all about sooty and wanted the darker coloured foal...Not to mention, was curious to see what genes junior would get from his pops lol...
I used a foundation mare with a PT of 9.9 and taaadaa....got this handsome stud colt! He's gonna be 17 hands when hes grown! I adore his colour...and believe it or not..named him before I bred him..and his colour suits his name!
I'll GMT him super consistant and hopefully that will bring up his paper level..

I used my ice13 yule log mare. This is my colt from them!

I love him! He'll get a little GMT work. I chose the mare because of her color, because shes a rank special, and a big reason was because she had no white genes. I didnt want to risk adding anything to all of the stallion's white genes and creating either a completely white foal or a dead one. The ice13 was just an extra bonus!

I was planning on using my rank special Freaky Friday mare. Her paper level is equivalent to his and she doesn't have white to interact and give me a lethal foal.

How did you get the foal in tact?

I was thinking of breeding to a Cream Dun Splash Mare to up the odds of the foal remaining intact. Tho im not sure if this will help the odds. My thinking is breeding similar to similar will help.

I was thinking my Bone Fire Mare she has no white or minimal I cant remember(and I was just looking at her!). But I like the idea of adding Sooty.

Yeah I'll probably rename him to something different but related lol but it was the first thing that popped into my head so for now itll work lol. I was too excited to use the straw!

I'm still trying to figure out which one I want to put him to? I'm a bit worried that I might loose my shot at a few awesome genes in my herd. I don't know if I should put him to an exceptional producer to give it a boost but I know mixing quality is risky business. I'm overthinking this.

Most of my RS mares are foals still. I would've loved to breed him to my rhythm of four.
White Wedding is far too risky.
I'm tempted to use my First Snow or Yule Log.

We've got until the end of next breeding season @BlueJumpingBean so you have time to scout out a good mare? I probably wouldn't risk a g2 girl! Look at an expro or exceptional create if you want to use the quality of a 2g mare! However, foal has a good chance of being snipped due to a difference in breeding ability of parents :-SS

Low white factor, only one copy of splash. I think you should be OK, I'm no good with how much WF is lethal in this game.

I am really hoping to get W10 from the pairing. It's one of my favorite genes and I sold all of my stock with it when I dispersed my herd.

Because of how W10 looks, I don't want it in my GP line. And it doesn't make sense to mix it into my Machiato line, which has a similar effect. Which leaves my KP line. My KP line is also chocolate palomino/liver chestnut, so that works out.

But, I need the foal to be at least het KP...since my herd stallion is KP.

So I think I'm going to pull one of my very last eggs from this girl out of the vault.

She's Sabino 2 (safe) W3 (slightly risky) but low white factor, so my fingers are triple crossed. Waiting til next season to do it. Come on pretty baby!

If the foal doesn't pass SBA it will be my first Boost token purchase...

I plan to use a nice liver mare I GMT'd to consistent. Her stats are all the same as his, and no white factor to worry about besides W20. She's only 3, though, so have to wait til next season! :-(

I plan to use this mare.. i see people mentioning white factor.. shes white factor minimal.. is that too risky?? Normally i dont even look at it but this is a one off clearly so dont want a dead foal..

Oh Ripsin, so excited that Moon gets to be the chosen one! Love looking at her foals and knowing she is loved. :)

Question for everyone: How are you avoiding snippage? Only have one shot so I want it to go well. Part of me is thinking use an expro mare to make it more likely the foal is in the b/ red range and then don't do breeding advice, but wanted to see what your strategies are. I wouldn't be considering this, but I had a yellow mare slip by, and her AFTP is passing my cut off point ahead of red mares, so as long as the kids go through advice...

I was thinking this girlie, since both parents would be DP and I just love DP! She's only a TNP, not a PF, but that wouldn't affect much right? She's close to his level, breeding-wise.

I'm assuming he's boosted, since his PT is 10, and the highest for a foundation is 9.9?

I chose to breed now so that in 2 days the foal is a two year old. I would have had a much bigger selection of mares if I waited - but patience is not one of my virtues, and I could not be happier with what I got. I could have liked a higher PT and maybe W10, but I got an intact stud and the sooty +, and the pearl, so I am extremely happy. Not to mention he is very pretty and liver.

@Skylight no. Horses can have a 9.9 PT and not have a good breeding ability. If you want to find a perfect Foundation quality mare, check out owner 13 on the horse search and buy a mare from them. All of the Foundation Rescue horses are perfect Foundation quality.
