Pasture breeding
  • Is their any way I can breed all my mares to different studs without having to pull them out of pasture or purchasing another breed pasture/: I have Drafts, WB, and RH. I have specific studs I want to breed to my mares. Is there a way?
  • Not that I am aware of. It has always been random for me.
  • You don't use pastures if you want to breed that carefully.
  • Unfortunately the only way to do that is to buy a second pasture.
  • Darn :/ only if I had funds for another pasture
  • I just really want to use the pasture bonus
  • If you have a second pasture you can move mares from one pasture to the other and they don't lose their pasture bonus as long as you move them directly from one to the other without putting them in a barn. If you only have one pasture, you're out of luck.
  • Well since I have my studs for public breeding I think I just might pay for the few Draft and RH horses I have them put my WB stud out there to breed the rest :) does that still let my use the pasture bonus?
  • If you mean in house breed with the draft and RH studs, then no. You can't in-house breed with mares that are in the pasture. Once out of the pasture, horses lose the pasture bonus.

  • so if my stud isn't in the pasture to breed them no pasture bonus? I wish I could select which horses get bred in pasture that would be awesome lol
  • Yeah but that would make things too easy I suppose. I'm jonesing for another pasture myself.

  • I bought a 10 mare pasture on sale just so I can control the breeding better in pasture. I haven't gotten to use it yet, but I can already tell it's going to be worth it. It's only $5 and some change, if they're still on sale. Now is the time to get it, if you can scrounge up a bit of change.

  • I'm just so tempted to get the premium upgrade right now...
  • Nope. @haltanny, the sale ended earlier today.

  • The mares get a pasture bonus that hides some of the lower end of her breeding range every day for 30 days, when the bonus stabilizes. It doesn't matter if the stallion is in the pasture until you're ready to breed the mares.

For instance, if you put your mares into the pasture on the 21st day of one month, you might not want them to be automatically bred when you logged in on the 14th day of the next month. So, you wouldn't put the stallion into the pasture until just before the mares reached their 30 days in pasture and then breed them manually by clicking the breed all mares button.

  • If you have more than one stud in the pasture with the mares, how does the breeding work? If you have 30 mares and 3 studs, will they split them evenly?
  • They will breed randomly but not necessarily split them evenly. From what I understand, each mare has an equal chance of being bred with each of the stallions and it's entirely random.
