Lethal

Here's the stallion I bred to: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=14440
And here's the mare: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=93420
And, my foal died. Why? The stud is sabino, not white. -
I often have to check back on the old forums to confirm which genetics combined together can create lethal babies. Here is what I found:
http://www.kinetocoredesign.com/showthread.php?79491-What-genes-in-the-game-can-cause-death#110 -
Huh. Had no idea about the sabinos, and the forum thread I checked didn't say anything about it. Thanks!

this filly's mom carrys the white1 her sire carry's the white2. i tried to breed another mare and her sire but the foal died. then i tried her mom and her dad and i got her -
You just got lucky that the foal didn't die.... Should avoid breeding whites together.
-
I should have read this sooner... I got a lethal white with a W2 and a Sabino also this year.
-
I am interested in breeding a mare that was color tested as White Silver Bay Splash. Will the presence of the White make it possible to have a lethal combination with a stallion also carrying White and/or Sabino?
Is it possible for tobiano to make a lethal foal? -
White 1 and White 2 are lethal with Sabino 1 and 2. White is always potentially lethal with all whites.
Tobiano is safe with everything. White 3 and 4 are ok with sabino. Sabino 3 is ok with everything. Somewhere there's a thread with a chart of lethal combinations. -
How do I know if my mare is White 1, 2, 3, or 4? Or if a sabino is 1 or 2?
-
To know for sure you'll need to color test (just like in real life). Look at your horse's Kit gene. If they have white (w) or sabino (sb) it'll have a number next to it.
-
Oh! I knew color testing would be important. Thank you very much for all the clarifications. :)

Is splash lethal at all? I'm trying to separate out my possible lethal mares and mark them because I lost quite a few frame to frames this season being stupid... I'm going to put them all in a pasture together and make sure I breed safe studs only in that pasture!
-
There is a great Facebook group for us game addicts and they have a great document that tells what is safe to breed together as far as the white, the splashes, the sabinos and the frame genes go. Here is the link the the Facebook page and anyone that plays the game is welcome to join.

And yes Cheers, the splash 2 and splash 3 can be lethal. It is unsafe to breed a horse with splash 2 to another horse with splash 2 or one with splash 3. The same is true of a horse with splash 3, you should avoid mating a horse with another horse with splash 2 or splash 3. There is a 25% chance of a lethal baby.
Sabino 1 and Sabino 2 can cause the same risk if bred to each other or White 1 or White 2. -
Sabino is safe with sabino, just not white 1/2.
-
Hey Terri! I looked at that chart and couldn't figure it out after a day of walking dead and wine...thanks for the help. I probably shouldn't be trying this after a day of Walking Dead and wine, but we get 4 day weekends so infrequently...I'm trying to savor it and still get some game stuff done!
-
Someone at one time put lethal white combinations in a thread. I copied and pasted into my word program, so I could check before breeding. I have done pretty good not getting a lethal white since I did. I hope it helps out. If some of it isn't accurate please correct it.
Lethal White Foals
Homozygous Frame - Frame to Frame - 1 in 4 chance of getting a LW foal.
Homozygous White - White to White - Any of the Whites 1, 2, 3, 4. 1 in 4 chance of a LW foal.
Non Homozygous White with any other non Homozygous White - 1 in 4 chance of getting a LW foal.
Sabino 1 or 2 to White 1 or 2 - 1 in 4 chance of getting a LW foal.
Homozygous Splash 2 to Homozygous Splash 3 - 1 in 4 chance of getting a LW foal.
Homozygous Splash 2 - Splash 2 to Splash 2 - 1 in 4 chance of getting a LW foal.
Homozygous Splash 3 - Splash 3 to Splash 3 - 1 in 4 chance of getting a LW foal.
Splash 1 though is SAFE when Homozygous - Splash 1 to Splash 1
Splash 1 though is SAFE when Homozygous, or in combination with any other of the Splashes - Splash 1 to Splash 2, or Splash 1 to Splash 3.

Thanks everybody! I don't have much Splash 2 or 3, but I have a fair bit of frame and white and a bit of Sabino. I've pulled them all into a pasture that I will make sure I breed with non lethal sires. Most of my stallions are safe anyway but I have a few Wet N Wilds with frame.
It's when I get to my upper gens that I'm going to have problems when those boys grow up! -
I made myself a simple frame tattoo and put it on all color tested horses that have Olw. Now that my bank balance can afford it, I am much more likely to color test my mares. It helps to keep track of them once they grow up.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
