What are your breeding goals?
  • Just asking because everyone else seems to have a plan in this game. Some people have actual breeding programs. Me? I'm still in that experimental phase of throwing horses together just to see what comes out. I like Appies, roans and white spotted so I seem to be collecting a lot of those. I do kind of have an idea that I'd like to have at least one horse in every breeding club eventually.

So, what are you doing? :)

  • Chocolate and Livers for now :)
    Oh and Snowflake :)
May sell them once I get enough IV's or gmts to start a Hom DP CHOC/LIVER Hom KP line :)
Also want to eventually start a Hom Satin line but that will take a whole lol
Though I may have to quit soon or cut down to basic upgrade. Mother is complaining I'm spending to much money :))

  • I have my hands in a lot of colors but I have a very strict culling rules I go by. I do because my goals is to have one of my two herd sirs in each color I have and at least one brood mare in each color I have on a Top Producing list. Currently my 2gen liver Stallion is barely making the Top Producing Stallion list in the Chestnut breeder club. I have high hopes for his sons, one of which is currently 4th in the Highest PT Of the Year in the liver breeders club. I have high goals and I expect a constant upward slop with each generation. Lets see if I can name all the different herds I'm currently working with lol
Going Prodigious (dark no marking liver)
    Inferno (GP/At)
    Shrapnel (snowflake)
    Sugarbush (leo appy)
    Champagne
    Silver Bay
    Cream (Perlino/Cremello)
Give Me The Beat (Silver Buckskin)
    Dun
    Pintaloosa
Liver with markings like splash and appy
    Silver Black
Black (working toward pure black but currently have splash and tob mixed in)
and I have more in mind to start next season.
  • Oh and I breed strictly Draft.
  • I have bits and pieces of everything with the focus on quality rather than colour.

But I have a soft spot for KP and sabino on darker coats. A few pearls. I like black appy rabicanos. And moving into my 3rd gen I'm going to start seeing hom KP with w8 hopefully.

Also macchiato is the one closed gene I've allowed myself :D
  • I breed appaloosas...Im currently working on flaxens, silvers, livers, and browns...
I'd love to breed a silver flaxen liver leopard lol... Im working on it :)
    Champion Appaloosas
  • My lines are still quite young and new and I'm always finding a shiny new goal to try to breed for. Whenever I see I horse I really like, I look at its genes and see if I can find a way to breed it.

Show horses - I have a high PT A stallion I put with any mares that don't really fit my other goals
    Dark (sty/DP) Wild Bays
    Pearls
    Sable Champagnes
    Silver Champagnes & Buckskins
    Appaloosas
    Browns
    Snowflakes
And Macchiatos have been added to the mix!
  • Don't worry about not having a plan. I've been playing since October 2o15 and I'm just starting to refine my herd.

I've been focusing on DP for almost a year but that was all until recently.
Now I'm starting to breed for leopard and few spot appaloosas
Kitm, usually paired with DP as well
And tobianos. I really like dark chestnut and black tobis.
A few other colors (not patterns) I try for are Browns, bay, black chestnut, liver, sooty palomino, roan of almost any color, pangere, and I really like gold champagne but haven't begun breeding it yet

  • My plan was originally black liver chestnuts. It has now become a free for all to see how many different white patterns I can get on those black liver chestnuts, while keeping the good quality the lines started out with!

  • My first goal is high quality, meaning a steady uphill march in PT scores and Papering levels for my entire herd.

Within that, I have 4 lines for that steady march plus a show line I'm going to play around with.

    My four lines are
1--DP Sooty+ chocolate palomino and liver chestnut KP
2--DP sooty GP drafts, both regular and wild bay with a few browns sprinkled in
3--Satin Machiato with a black base and a variety of extra patterns. Black, silver, smoke and Grullo.
4--Appaloosas, hopefully working on breeding for the two extremes of spot size

My show line is an experiment working with ice 1, ice 8, a couple of Nexus girls to produce high PT fantasy show ponies. The goal will be to get enough intact Breeders to continue the line but the primary purpose will be shiny show ponies. (If anyone has any Nexus or ice 1/8 breeders sitting around they don't use, I'm buying!)
  • My horses are inspired by a breed I made up as sort of my satire on shadowbox and trying to make a wild horse that was as amazing as shadowfax while making it more believably a horse, if that makes any sense, so I go mainly with the solid colored dark duns since those would be able to blend into the environment better so not to be eaten by dragons, also, since I made up this breed in comparison to shadowbox is put a lot of pressure on me to try to again high quality, though since in my mind they are true wild horses I allow uneveness to happen as long as I can match up quality, because with wild horses it is the quality that keeps them alive, they don't have manicured pedigrees, but yeah, I play the game from a completely different perspective than most.
  • I would like to get up to higher gens with pretty genes and be able to own lots of barns!

  • I'm only still quite new, barely breaking into 3rd gen, so most of my breeding goals are based on colours. I have just recently gotten my basic upgrade and sadly had to geld this beautiful hom dp het sty boy who papered C...

    My colours are:
DP - so I have a LOT of dark chesnuts, even though I'm meh about that colour.
Appy - Oh I love it, especially with as many white colours as I can throw into the mix! They usually come with tobiano, or at least that's why I'm trying to do.
Sabino 1 - Haven't got much of these horses, just kinda experimenting with them...
Splash and frame - my first and most favourite stud is a Sparkling Cider with both splash and frame and his babies are gorgeous. However I'm thinking of merging this with my:
Macchiato - I just got it and oh I love the colours. I'll probably never drop this line, especially since I had to pay real money for it!
