Two questions...
-
Is a red 3 g horse ok to keep intact if the pass strict breeding advice? If the pass Strict breeding advice it still means their lines are improving right? And if the sire is C papered 1g and his offspring is 2g even bred B papered but the foal is AGA as sire it does not make sense that the foal has a higher paper level but it AGA sire I thought B is higher then C that confuses me he should be superior unless the foal papered C then that would make sense that he is AGA sire

Hey! Great questions. :)
The comparison test sees whether a horse is About as good as another colt or stallion, not Precisely as good as. Each horse has a range of possible breeding outcomes, not just one point, so the test sees whether they overlap significantly or not. The papering (as far as I know) just sees whether they reach a certain point or possibly reach above a certain point, so horses can have the same paper level and different ranges, and they can have different paper levels and overlapping ranges. Your 2g stallion is a low B, so there is still some improvement generation to generation, but higher B's can also be obtained.
It's likely that your filly is a mid Red. If she passed SMA, she is around equal her mother's quality or higher, but not worse. Blues are pretty hard to get at 3g, so it's fine. If you like her, keep her. :)
The thing is, if you don't want the hassle of trying to breed the very best foals at every generation, spending hundreds of thousands of hbs and days sorting foals, then you don't have to. You can breed your 3g Red filly to a 5g B stud and get an intact foal, and have just as much fun as a player who keeps quality evenly progressing as much as possible at each generation. You might even be more relaxed than they are. :P -
Ok great thank you :) I breed evenly 99% of the time I even breed same papers I hardly ever get intact foals doing it that way I'd get no intact foals if I breed unevenly I know it lol but thanks for your advice the 3g red mare is one of my favorites I actually have a lot of 3g red and B I just love that passed SBA ill keep them intact for now since they are exactly what I'm breeding for coat wise who knows maybe they will throw me some A or blue babies :)

I personally don't keep red 3g mares, but I have enough blues to have a good sized herd of blue 3g mares. You want 3g stallions to paper A, so mares should be equivalent. I would not count a 3g mare papering red as an improvement upon her dam unless the 2g dam was yellow papered.
Papering AGA their sire means they are equal or slightly better. Key word here is "about". I only keep B papered colts that test superior to their sires.Thanked by 1Coeur -
If I did it like that I'd have no 3g mares or studs of the coats I'm breeding for its weird that a horse can pass SBA but not be good enough what's the point of SBA lol ;)
-
It's a starting point, it means they aren't worse than their parents. If your 2gs are where they should be they will give you blues and As at 3g. Now that doesn't mean they will always produce the blue and As, but it's better in the long run, IMO, to be strict with your culling.Thanked by 1Coeur

Yes it makes sense to be strict to have higher quality lines but I have horrible luck I have spent a ton of money on breeding my 2g horses and only 2 or 3 3g A and blues to show for it I feel like I'd be throwing money away if I spay and geld B and red 3g that pass SBA I don't know it's something to think about all the pretty ones are not good quality it's so sad :(
-
So strive for pretty AND quality. You're still fairly new, it's going to take time to get your lines where you want them. Instant gratification is difficult in this game, things take time. I had terrible luck in the past few months but last month AND this month I got star papered 5g homozygous KP colts and a couple Gold 4g fillies. Persistence and working your way up takes time. It's sad when they get altered, but there's always next season. You can play the game however you want, honestly. I just personally prefer to be strict in my lines. I can't afford to boost and GMT a ton of horses, what with having two kids, two horses, a cat, a dog and a bearded dragon to take care of, so I make do with what I've got. Patience is key. :)

I currently don't snip 3G mares that paper Red. If they pass breeding advice, they get a chance. Then I cull based on AFPT. I just asked something similar yesterday and these are the responses I got

Ok great thank you Ahayes I have to decide what I'm going to do I really love these mares but I want quality this is a hard decision
