Confused on Rank 5 - Exceptional Producers
-
Hello,
This may be a stupid question on my part but I just bred my Rank 5 Exceptional Producer mare to my my Rank 5 Exceptional Producer stallion and the foal failed on the Strict breeding. I really don't understand how this happened please could someone explain to me as my assumption was that an Exceptional Producer would produce an intact foal? I am still figuring the game out but I'm loving playing and just want to understand more :)
I've attached the foal's link (I think), if anyone can point out my mistake, I'd be very grateful!
Thank you!

Exceptional producers have a 5% boosted breeding ability over a regular Perfect Foundation. This means they are really the equivalent of low gen 2 horses instead of high foundation gen horses. It does not, however, make them inherently more likely to give you intact foals. Their foals can still, like all foals, be much worse than, slightly worse than, as good as, or a bit better than their parents.
When you breed evenly matched horses like this cross you still have a chance the foal will be worse than their parents. Making full use of the pasture bonus for your mares will give you a better chance of getting intact foals.Thanked by 1LJDobbins -
I think it's still all just a roll of a dice pretty much. Even the best match can have a poor foal.
Fingers crossed for next season :D●▬▬▬▬▬▬๑۩۩๑▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●

Yes, I use the pastures alot Cheers, was just excited about these two and finally having really good Foundation horses and rushed into it in my excitement at finally having two good horses. Lesson for next time, don't get excited about it :(

The pastures always up your chances, but she at least has a great PT and will make a good show pony for you!Thanked by 1LJDobbins

Absolutely, have popped her into the pasture now in the hopes that next season will be a great one :) Think I have a lot more to learn :-B Thank you for your help!

This is such a complex game that I find, even after playing since 2011 (HaJ1. HaJ2 hadn't been started yet.) I still learn new things about it from time to time, so don't worry about still having things to learn. :)De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
