The Nanotechs have a tattoo! Thanks Ammit!
  • Thanks for giving the Nanotech RS horses a tattoo and such a pretty one too!
    Thanked by 1Ammit
  • Thank you.

To think that once upon a time, in this game, there were no tattoos at all, nor herd helpers, not Rank Specials, and now we take all of them for granted and feel lost if they don't come together as we expect them to.

Ammit, your never-ending creative development of this game is amazing and a marvelous gift of time and energy to all of us who love to play it.
De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

  • I remember pattern time that would show up randomly when you were creating horses and you could pay 8k (or was it 6k) per horse and you got a horse with any random pattern. It was really neat when it came out but the herd helper system blows that completely out of the water so thanks for always working to improve HJ for us! And these rank special events have been really fun. :D Now if I could just teach my computer that yes, Appleloosa is a word that I'm trying to type so stop changing it to Appaloosa every single freaking time I type it I'd be all set lol. My phone learns new words and stops autocorrecting them at some point so why can't you, computer? :P
  • I'm going to do my standard, nostalgic thing, and say that I really liked the way we created horses on WHG, towards the end. A trainer (the game) would find you 3 different horses, in varying colors, (and different ability categories, HJ does't use those, though) at 3 different prices, and you picked the one you wanted to buy. If you didnt like any of those choices, you could send the trainer out to find 3 more, for a price! (Like re-rolling a herd helper). There were no guarantees that a higher priced horse was better than a cheaper one, you just took your chances! It was really fun!

(Maybe it's more 'bemoaning days gone by' than a nostalgic thing, or it could be whining, I do miss my WHG. Ammit is BEYOND tired of listening to me, but, MAN I loved that game!!)

  • @confluencefarms it's funny because I remember that. I searched hard for that game before I started this one LOL I was a little bit bummed when I found out I couldn't find it anymore
  • @Confluence Farms that sounds awesome! That's similar to how I am planning it in the non-automated/play by post game I am working on.

  • Did WHG used to be called Shoco? If it was, I remember trying it when the beta version was first realized since I was already playing HJ at the time and Ammit posted about Shoco on the HJ forum. I just remember that there were like a dozen different disciplines you could show your horse in and you had to calculate a horse's showing ability in each one by hand by entering the horse in several classes of each discipline, making sure that the horse was always trained the same number of times between classes or your calculations would be inaccurate, and so on. It just took up such a massive amount of time that I stopped playing because I couldn't keep up with all the work I would have needed to do in order to play the game correctly. Fun, but way too time consuming overall. Of course, that was the first beta version so it could definitely have become less time intensive over the years. IIRC, frame on HJ was released at about the same time as the Shoco beta, since frame is so common in western stock horses, and frame has become one of my favorite genes now.
  • I had forgotten about that. I like the idea but not sure the server could handle the generator load. For reference we have about 140 people playing on the game right now. That is pretty intense.
