  • I was going to do a ready set click. But that doesnt give too many people a chance since its 130 am here and who knows what time everywhere else! And then I was like why not do the "guess the rank special" ..nah then I though what about a guess a number between 1-100 and do a random number generator...decided against that one to haha. I wanted to do something a little different. Im sure youre waiting for me to get to the point :))

    I really like interactive threads SO. How we'll do this is I want you to tell me five things.
    These are pretty random except for number 4. Im just curious!

    1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!)
    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list ;) and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!

    And make sure to add your ID!

    Oh! and the Rank Special is White Wedding :)
    And if you dont want the share but still want to participate in the thread thats cool too!

    I think I'll keep this going until 5 or 6 pm game time whenever I get home from feeding horses lol I'll post when Im done taking entries and then will post who the winner is. I'm going to count the number of people who entered and then do a random number generator!

  • 1. I'm grateful for my horses in real life, they keep me sane
    2. I loved Jane Eyre but I am a devoted Tolkien fan, if you want something along those lines but more 'modern' try The Gospel of Loki, it's brilliant
    3. I love my hair as it's long
    4. Friesians and Andalusians as I have one of each, favourite memory is bringing them both home
    5. Jock, Hayhay and Carpet

    1.
    My parents. They've made so many sacrifices to allow me to have horses in my life and I'll always be so grateful for their support.
    2.
    The handmaid's tale by Margaret Atwood, or if you want something a little less hard hitting (lol) I LOVE the shadowhunters series and spin offs by Cassandra Clare.
    3.
    My ability to ride. I'm not great at much else but I love being able to form a bond with horses
    4.
    I don't have one but I think Haflingers are so cute! And they can do top level dressage! My favourite memory was my first ride back on my warmblood mare last year. She'd been off for 18 months due to injury and the vet was unsure if she'd ever be sound again. Taking that first trot stride and feeling her happy and comfortable made me burst into tears!
    5.
    Zazu in the Lion King because without him nagging nothing would get done lol, Vladimir in tangled because his song in the pub was so funny, and sergeant Tibbs in 101 Dalmatians a) because I love cats and b) he was so heroic.

    Sorry for the essay lol!

  • Ooo I love this idea!! My ID is 24375

    1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!)
    → I am grateful for my amazing husband. He supports my crazy horse addiction. He wants me to succeed and is always there cheering me on. He doesn't get mad when I'm away at horse shows or spending hours outside riding and taking care of the barn.

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    → My favorite book is a series called "The Iron Druid Chronicles". I absolutely LOVE them and I listen the their audiobooks when I work and clean.
    → Oh, and my favorite TV show EVER is Supernatural ♥

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    → lol Toughest question out of the bunch. I'm a loyal friend. I'll do anything I can for my friends even if it makes my life harder. I care about the people around me and want to make sure they're taken care of.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    → My favorite breed that I'll probably never be able to own would be a Straight Egyptian Arabian. I absolutely love how they present themselves and they're absolutely gorgeous. My favorite breed that IS attainable would be a Paint. I own a AQHA now and plan on breeding her to a Paint stallion next year ♥
    → My favorite memory would have to be officially getting the AQHA papers and having my name as the owner. I cried the day I got them. Dee Dee is my first horse (after waiting 28 years...lol) and it was such a special moment in my life.

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main character
    → 1. LOL The Squirel from ice age. Poor guy can't catch a break.
    → 2. Jacques from Finding Nemo
    → 3. Flash from Zootopia

    4. Friesian. The day I got my first horse. It was a 3.5 hour drive home...when I arrived to pick him up he was scared of a hay roll..haha! Then after I let him off in the paddock I couldn't catch him for 3 hours!
    5. Nala, the pegasus in Hercules and Abu (The monkey in Aladdin)

  • I love this idea! I feel like we're having a get to know each other thread here, like at the start of college courses :))

    1. Don't want to get sappy but I'm grateful for loads of things in my life, especially my family. I have no idea where I'd be without them :x

    2. This could go on forever but I'll cut it down to 3(major literature nerd alert)
    - Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind
    - Under the Skin by Michel Faber
    - Horatio Hornblower by C.S.Forester (old but gold)

    3. I'd have to say my self-confidence and sense of self worth. I think it's something that's gotten me far in life and will continue to push me forward. Love yourselves guys!

    4. Friesians! I'm a rather aesthetics obsessed person and they are the most gorgeous horses I've ever laid eyes on. A TV show to watch that features them is The Musketeers (BBC ver), three gorgeous friesians.

    Favourite memory would be my first time getting back on a horse after a terrible fall and realising that I actually still enjoyed it after spending weeks terrified of getting back in the saddle. It was so relieving not to panic every time I thought of riding.

    5. Maximus - The sassy horse from Tangled
    Lt Archie Kennedy - from the TV show Hornblower(you should watch it too!)
    Heihei - The chicken in Moana
    The animals are always the best in Disney films :D

    1) I am grateful for my family. We were told we would probably not have children. I have 3 beautiful children that I adore. They are my reason for being and drive me to be the best Mum, woman, role model I can be.
    2) My favourite book - there are far too many but I love Memoirs of a Geisha or A Child Called IT (read with tissues!)
    3) My favourite thing about me would be my eyes. They can be a very light blue almost grey, or very dark.
    4) My favourite horse memory, is the first time that my son jumped on a horse. It was amazing seeing him be so carefree and scared and excited all at once. I really like the markings on Appaloosa horses.
    5) The genie from Aladdin. Muschu (spelling might be off) from Mulan. Pegasus from Hercules because he has wings - why else ;)

    Good luck everyone.

    1. I'm grateful that I'm able to be around horses and that my mom has always been supportive of that. Lots of little girls beg for riding lessons and their parents say now so I'm grateful that my mom said yes.
    2. Oh this is a really hard question because there are so many books I love. It's like asking me to choose a favorite friend. So I'm going to go with my favorite book from my childhood instead, which was Harry Potter. I was reading at a very young age and I remember when my first grade teacher let me go read my Harry Potter book in the corner instead of learning to read the picture books that the other kids were working on during reading class. My teacher didn't believe me at first when I told her that I could read Harry Potter so she made me read an article from her newspaper out loud. Of course, I had no idea what the article was talking about lol, but I was able to read it.
    3. I'd say my favorite thing about myself is the way that I like animals. I can't even imagine being one of those people that hates pets or animals in the house. Of course, I'm petting my dog with one hand as I type this so I admit that I'm biased lol.
    4. My favorite horse breed is definitely the TB, and I love working with OTTBs and retraining them to be riding horses instead of racehorses. I don't have a favorite memory in particular, but every time I see one of those wealthy kids that can barely tack up their own horse or one of those nervous ammies who's terrified of their own horse even though it's practically a saint, I'm really grateful that my childhood trainers strongly emphasized horsemanship skills and had me ride lots of different types of horses and many difficult horses because I can take care of my own horse and I've never been nervous or scared when I'm around a horse that has some issues.
    5. I used to love Disney movies when I was a little kid. I'd say some of my favorite non main characters in Disney movies are Mushu the dragon from Mulan, Maximus the horse from tangled, and the minions in despicable me.
    Thanked by 1MoonAcre Stables

  • 1. Today I'm really grateful for my parents - I've been living with them while I apartment hunt (in a different city!) and they've been really amazing and helpful and understanding about all my craziness.
    2. Hmm; my favorite book might be Sidney Sheldon's Rage of Angels. I just finished law school and have always loved legal books, and this was always one of my favorites.
    3. I've always loved my brain. I was always a smart kid and was so thankful that school and academics came easily, because I had some friends who tried really hard and still struggled so much to understand things.
    4. I've always been rather fond of Friesians and Hanoverians. My favorite horse memory is probably of the summer riding camp I went to when I was a kid for 2 weeks. I unfortunately didn't know anyone with horses, and didn't have the money to have lessons, but for 2 or 3 summers my parents were able to send me to horse riding camp - it was an amazing experience to learn about horses, ride them, jump them, etc.
    5. My favorite Disney characters are Meg from Hercules, Shang from Mulan, and Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame. (hoping that love interests don't count as a main! lol)

  • 1.I'm grateful for my two beautiful fillies this year.
    2. Your favorite book all of them by Madeline Baker. :)
    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. My humor.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse- Minis. My first mini was a stallion that I named Romeo. The day I went to look at him was the beginning of my love affair with minis. He was just trotting around showing off. He was just the cutest thing that I had to get him. He was the most amazing horse. He loved kids. If he heard some outside playing he'd get excited and neigh then he'd pickup the pace till we got there and would wait for his pettings. He was well known in the neighborhood. :) We had many good times together. I taught him to drive and I never had to worry about him spooking or anything like that. I use to take him to pick up cans. I'd have him in a halter hitched to a cart with a dump cart behind that. I'd let him graze on the side of the road while I'd go pick up cans. I'd come back dump the cans in and we'd trot up to the next point. He loved it. Romeo was a very special horse. I couldnt imagine doing that now with any of the minis that I have. He was truly one of a kind and loved by all. I owned him till he passed.

    5. The waiter in Lady and the tramp is funny. Ichabod's horse. The three vultures in Jungle book. "What we gonna do today? "

  • 1. My beautiful lease horse that I'm only able to lease because the perfect circumstances all came together at once.
    2. The Time Traveler's Wife
    3. This makes me feel awkward, but maybe my hospitality.
    4. I really want an Irish Sport Horse, but my boy is a paint so I feel as though I should say paint. haha.

    Favorite horse memory: just about anything with my current boy? But probably the first time I got brave enough to canter him bareback.. It's my new favorite thing.
    5. Maximus from Rapunzel, Mr. Pricklepants from Toy Story, Pua from Moana!

    Thanks so much for this!

    Oh and my ID is 23131

  • 1. I am grateful to have served in the Army for 6.5 years and be able to work with the dogs that save people and lives. I am grateful that I have a wonderful family and was able to go to college for vet tech.

    2. Favorite book.....probably the Mortal Instrument Series

    3. Favorite thing about myself would be my compassion for animals and willingness to help them :)

    4. Favorite breed would be an Arabian. I learned to ride on a stallion when I was younger and he was the gentlest horse I have ever met! I rode him for quite a few years before leaving Florida. I wish I could go back and see him again :/

    5. Khan the horse in Mulan, Crush and Squirt from finding memo (I love turtles), and Danny the Great Dane from 101 Dalmations (I have 3 Danes so I have a soft spot for them)
    Thanked by 1MoonAcre Stables
  • Wow @Moon, what an awesome contest!

    1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!)
    • I am grateful for my beautiful retired racehorses, I have worked to own every one of them and to bring them from being OTTBS into successful, incredible eventers that are now taking me to the top. I am also grateful for my first pony - when I got him he bucked me, and everyone else off that rode him....we could not sell him! But, as time went on, and I learnt how to sit a proper buck (which now, has helped me out a lot - but don't tell him that lol!), I developed the most amazing bond with that pony that I will forever be grateful for. He stood by me in some incredibly tough times, that I didn't think I'd be able to push through. I actually had him in my backyard for a while as I couldn't bear for him to be 15 metres further away in his paddock, when he could just be outside my lounge room door!

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    • Oh, where do I begin?! I am the biggest book nerd...EVER! Firstly, my most favourite horse related book is by far Monty Roberts autobiography 'The Man Who Listens to Horses'. I have read that poor book about 50 times over! It never gets old, and I laugh, cry and learn more about his understanding of horses every time I read it.
    • My favourite fiction books are anything by Jodi Picoult; she just has an incredible way of writing and addressing such personal struggles in each of her books that are portrayed in the most beautiful way. To name a few are the iconic 'My Sister's Keeper', 'Handle With Care' and 'The Storyteller'.
    • Andddd, just to add some more super incredible books because I can't help myself (lol!) are 'Before I Go To Sleep', 'Second Life', 'The Couple Next Door' and 'The Girl On The Train'.

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    • My inner strength. There is nothing that I am more proud of, of me, than my inner strength. I have overcome some obstacles that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, and they were always shock/unexpected tragedies which I had to really dig deep and push through. My beautiful pony, the one I mentioned above, had a lot of tears of sadness, anger and happiness shed into his mane.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    • I would definitely have to say either thoroughbreds because of their insane loyalty, talent and MOVEMENT!!! (move over Valegro, my new gelding is making an entrance!), or my incredible dutch warmblood gelding who I had high aims of making my 2* debut with, but an early retirement cut us just short of that.
    • Gosh choosing one is so difficult... But probably the exact moment my Warmblood pushed through his extreme fear of having his head handled. I can remember it clear as day - I was walking up to him in the paddock and he just rest his head in my arms and let me pat, and scratch his ears. Has done that same gesture every time I go into the paddock, for the past few years.
    • Okay, one more - this is already an essay, so why not add some more, right?! The moment my thoroughbred found out he liked carrots. The trainer I bought him off said he had tried to feed him a carrot every day; in his food, cut up, whole, shredded etc you name it, he tried it, and he never was interested! Then, I dropped the carrot by accident in a feed for my old horse that had molasses in it, and gave him the carrot and his whole face just changed to joy as he crunched on that! Try and take a carrot away from him now, and gosh you'll lose a finger!

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main character
    • Pumbaa and Timon from 'The Lion King' - gosh those two make me laugh every time!
    • Cogsworth from 'The Beauty and The Beast'!!!
    • Grumpy from 'Snow White'..gosh I just can relate to him, especially in the morning lol

    Side note: @Moon, if you're reading this now, I salute you....even I haven't re read my answer because it's soooo long!

  • 1. Something you're grateful for.
    My granddaughter. She is my reason for living. Don't get me wrong, I love my husband & daughter, but my granddaughter is my joy.

    2. Your favorite book
    This is a hard one. I love to read! I enjoy all kinds of books, the more in a series the better. Green Rider by Kristen Britain is one of my favorites. I also enjoy books by Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Eileen Wilkes and others.

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself.
    I like myself. Sure, there are things I would love to change, but I don't mind being with me. I enjoy being alone and doing things by myself. I don't always have to have someone with me to "keep me company".

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses.
    Appaloosa (specially those with the Indian Shuffle). My memory has to do with my Quarter Horse, Doc News. I was boarding him at the time and had just finished cleaning out his run. I was standing at the end of the run looking out over the pasture watching the sun set. Next thing I knew, Doc had come up behind me and laid his head over my shoulder. We stood there several minutes enjoying each others company.

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!
    Mine are from Harry Potter
    1. Marge Dursley - Vernon's sister - She's the one that Harry "blows up" and floats away into the night.
    2. Narcissa Malfoy - Draco's Mother - Her lie to Voldemort saved Harry in the final book.
    3. Peeves - One of the ghost at Hogwarts - I don't think he was mentioned in the movies, but in the books, Peeves is hilarious! I wish he had been brought into the movies.

    Pasquale the chameleon from Tangled is one of my favorite non-main characters!

    @Kolladee
    Arent great parents wonderful? Without help from mine while Im going through a tough time I wouldnt have my horses anymore which would kill me and there are no words to explain how grateful I am for that! I'm sure youre great at a lot of things! Give yourself more credit :) And I also LOVE the shadowhunters series. I still havent gotten to the spinoffs but I have the books!
    And dont be sorry for the essay Im the queen of essays lmao

    @RedDeeFarms
    Does he have an equally awesome brother that I can have? hahahaha. The Druid Chronicles sound like a series I would like Im gonna have to check them out! And I havent seen the last few seasons of supernatural but I also share the love! Jensen Ackles is yummy :))
    Good and loyal friends are important with all the not so great ones out there. So you go girl! And gotta love those gorgeous Arabians! I can definitely understand the wonderful feeling of finally having your name on papers!

    @WhyTheLongFace
    # 4. made me giggle crazy horses will face some of the scariest things but if they pass by a log that theyve seen 20 times they'll spook at it on the 21st time :))

    @NorthernStars
    Oh my goodness I'm glad youre okay now! So sorry that you were so ill. Love Mrs Potts!!

    @ParadisePark
    Im so grateful for my mama as well. She sounds very similar to yours. Shes got the biggest heart. I have a dark chocolate I can trade for your VOS if its a mare! Shes 9 though.

    @Kalilm
    Haha exactly! Its so nice reading everyones responses! I'll have to look those books up!
    Self confidence and self worth are amazing qualities to have. Its not always an easy thing to love yourself and Im working on it every day! The animals are definitely the best in Disney films!

    @Riverstone18
    Your cat sounds beautiful! I love black beauty too :) and I LOVE brother bear!

    @Astarla
    I am SO happy for you that you were able to have children! Thats amazing. Im sure it was probably a very scary and sad thought that you might not be able to have children but you did and thats wonderful. Ive read a child called it like four times! Its good but definitely makes you cry! I'll have to check out memoirs of a geisha it sounds interesting!

    @WindwardFarm
    I know its a very hard question to answer when youre a book lover! I love your story about you proving your teacher wrong! She should have had more faith in you! And I could never imagine not having animals in my life or disliking them.. I cant even fathom that!

    @ElementalStables
    Yay for awesome parents! Thats so funny my moms favorite book is rage of angels. I have it and have had it for quite a few years and still havent picked it up! And Im happy that you were able to spend time with horses that way!

    @Skylight
    Minis are my favorite breed too :) I have 4. Such amazing little creatures and I love your story about Romeo. It must have been a huge loss when he passed but at least you have all of those wonderful memories!

    @Reef
    Im happy that those circumstances were able to come together the way they did for you!
    Im giggling at #4 we wont tell him you said Irish Sport Horse :))

    @Rain Tree
    Wow thats amazing. Thank you for your service!

    @AztecArabians
    I absolutely love your answers and stories. Im definitely going to look up those books! Ive read at least one by Jodi Picoult but I think there were a few!
    I know the feeling of having to pull deep down inside you for that inner strength and I also know the feeling of having a special horse there for you getting you through the toughest times. I can relate 100 percent. And Im proud of you too!
    Thats a spectacular thing to finally get over his fear of having his head handled and what an incredible feeling that must have been! I giggled at the carrot story as well! And yes Cogsworth is the best!

    @MistStables
    Your granddaughter is lucky to have someone who loves her so much!!
    Its an awesome thing to be comfortable beng alone. Your story about your favorite memory painted a beautiful picture in my mind! How sweet!

    @ Everyone - all of your favorite characters are AWESOME.

    1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!)
    I have a heck of a lot to be thankful for but since those other things are a bit personal I think I say I'm thankful this site. Yeah, I know it sounds like I'm kissing butt, but hear me out. When I had my daughter, I had post partum depression to a pretty bad extent(I won't go into the severity of it all). Its been difficult to get back on my feet the past couple years with meds making me into a zombie and my workplace not willing to work with me through the problems. I'm not interested in anything I used to be so my worlds gotten a bit dull. This site has given me a high I haven't had in a very long time. I don't think people realize how something like this can help a person in my situation so much.

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    I read a book in 7th grade that actually made me love books. It was called Sign of the Seahorse. The story was relatively simple but the artwork was AMAZING!

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    I'm curious. If I want to learn something, I go learn it. Not a lot of people have that kind of drive.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)

    Clydesdales! I don't know if it counts as a memory but there was a time where the Budweiser Clydesdales were housed at the farm my boyfriends dad works at. He took my probably 8 month old daughter to meet them. I have a picture of her, him and one of the horses. Amongst the brown horse and barn and the dark grey of his shirt, her bright jammies and pale skin just pops out. She was also looking directly at the camera so people who see the picture say it looks spooky and pretty at the same time.
    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters
    I don't do a lot of TV. I'm mostly a YouTube/video game person. I think my three favorites are Sans, Papyrus, and Undyne from the Undertale series. They aren't the main protagonists or antagonists for that matter so I think they count as secondary characters.
    Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

  • 28600.. not sure why this got deleted last time.. sorry!

    1. I'm so grateful for my life. Sometimes I believe people take that for granted the most.. instead of telling me when I'm sad to feel better, or that "suicide is for sinners or selfish people", I just want to be told to have a day. To take care of myself. I'm grateful that those closest to me will do that.
    2. The firebringer trilogy. (Not the firebringer) it's about unicorns and wyverns and magical awesomeness. You MUST read! If you like unicorns at all you won't be able to put it down. ;)
    4. Favorite breed: Lusitanios.. they're SO majestic and sexy beasts! Favorite memory; meeting and falling in love with my horse, Ally. I've never had an immediate connection with a horse like I had with her. I knew I had to have her and spent a summer working 3 jobs just to afford her. :)
    5. The little mermaid, SEBASTIAN! He was my first favorite charcter in a movie that I can remember.. and will stay with me until the end.. his voice.. :P
    I guess this isn't disney I don't think.. SCRAT!!! The saber toother squirrel from ice age. Lol I want a tattoo of him.. don't know why, I just have a intense love for him. He is my spirit animal!
    Ren from the new star wars. Strong female lead.. (STAR WARS UBER NERD!!)

    Thank you so much for the opportunity! Awesome to get to know people a little. :D I really hope to get a special someday! Xoxo -Kami

    Edit: Wouldn't work the first time.. first lesson in keyboard emojis.. lol

  • 1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!)
    I am grateful for the fact that we are all given chances to improve who we are. A little random, but has been on my mind.

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!) Ooo, tricky, I love reading, but I have a bad habit of critiquing books I read, hence I write my own lately. Don't think that counts though. Currently I'm reading the wheel of time series. I has kept me to the seventh book so far, so I think I'm enjoying it. lol

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on) I play by my own drum while still following rules. LOL (Do you want to pet my tarantula?)

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    I love reading about the conic/ new tarpan breed they found in Poland. My horses on here are even loosely based off them. I don't have many experience with real horses. I do raise goats though. Once I had a baby goat who was abandoned at birth, and by the time I found her she wasn't going so well and it actually tok her several days to stand up. I took her in and warmed her up and put her in a box in my room till she was standing and I was able to get mom goat to take her back. Woke up every few hours when baby goat wanted me, took her to school with me. She wanted me to hold er all the time like a human baby. Mom got worried when I named her, because when I first brought her in she didn't like the goat would live. Five years later, SIf is doing great, though she still isn't sure she is a goat. (oops!) She loves it whenever I come outside to scratch her, and is very much my buddy, plus she is the second strongest goat on the place! (Closely following her mother) haha

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!
    Kiago, Lumiere, and Kronk (from emperor's new groove. Does that count since I have not seen the movie where he is the main character?)

    I am so thankful for sites like these and the friendly people on them! I suffer from depression and these really help get me through the bad spells.

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    Anything wrote by Stephen King! lol but I am currently reading Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things by Martina McAtee and it is really good. I recommend you giving it a shot! :)

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    I love learning about other countries/cultures and their food!

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    I love the Clydesdale! There is just something about the huge fluffy horses that really tickles my fancy. :) My favorite memory would have to be the first time I saw a group of Clydesdale horses pulling a carriage in a parade. They were so beautiful and majestic. I fell in love immediately and have loved them since.

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!

  • 1. I'm greatful for my husband and his lovely job serving our country and everything he does for me.
    2. We have a whole shelf of books but right off the top of my head, His Dark Materials (the Golden Compass stuff), The King Raven trilogy by Stephen R. Lawhead, and most of the books by R.A. Salvatore.
    3. I love my hair, my amount of patience and how much I listen to other people when they need to rant about something.
    4. My favorite breed would have to be a Gypsy, although I like all of the bigger fluffy horses even if their hair is a pain to take care of. My favorite memory is of my horse being born 10 years ago. It was a total surprise for me and I've had her ever since.

  • 1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!)
    1. Two things have been on my mind lately, one is the "basic" I am super grateful for my horses and dogs, they are literally my reason for living and they mean so much to me. They are so sweet and have so many great qualities to their individual peronalities.
    The second is that I have been really grateful to random people (well, not random, co-workers) who are so willing to try and talk to me and be friendly even though I literally never talk.. and they are sweet and will give you so many chances even if you have been having a hard time and, well, they just seem to get it, kind of.. and they are nice, and it's just something that I've never experienced before, it's kind of mind boggling..? Like SO friendly to the point that one of my coworkers has been acting very motherly to me and has even brought food to me to work!? so sweet :)

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    My ALL time favorite book as a kid was Grimm's Fairly Tales. I also really liked the book Coraline. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is pretty good, too!
    As for TV, you can't go wrong with Bob's Burgers. It is HILARIOUS. And you can watch with pretty much anyone(grandparents and children will all think it's funny, and it's also appropriate).

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    I think that this is the time of self growth, I am kind of getting my shtuff together.
    What others tell me that I like: I am told that people love how chill and laid back I am all the time (which is freaking hilarious because I am literally the MOST high strung extremely HIGH ANXIETY person you will ever meet, but apparently how ever I do it comes off as "chill" and I think that is the funniest thing in the world). From family I am told that I get pretty determined; If I want to do or learn something that requires skills that I have never a day in my life done, that I am able to get (maybe a little annoyingly) determined until that thing is achieved.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    Bashkir Curly horse I think is my favorite, which is hard because I love them all.. I have allergies to horses, and I love my Curlies, but I still have normal horses, too! (2 curlies, 1 paint, 1 tennessee walker, and 1 mustang)
    One of my favorite memories was when I was 9 year old I was at a competition and I was SO ANXIOUS for my show that I was puking, but my turn came and went, and we did GREAT! Out of 250-300 other people at this show, little 9 year old me took blue and qualified for state!! (sorry, so long ago that I don't really have better details for story telling)

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!
    Tina Belcher from Bob's Burgers - I love how sweet and funny she is and that she goes to the beat of her own drum. She is super anxious about everything, but goes about everything in a hilarious way. I also love Gene and Louise.
    Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation - He is one of my favorites of all time. He is a man of few words, but is hilarious. I am right there with him on steak and woodworking.
    the Polar bear from Balto - because cute. That is it. Cute.

  • Great idea, Moonacre! I'm having fun learning a little bit about my fellow players!

    1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!) It might be a bit corny, but I had to go with the healing power of animals. As a child, I was first truly introduced to it while volunteering with a therapeutic riding center. I've spent the last 12 years working as a service dog trainer, most of which has been with a non-profit where I teach women inmates to train rescued dogs as service dogs for individuals with disabilities. I could go on for hours about the way watching these inmates and rescued dogs help each other and, eventually, the recipient, always leaves me speechless.

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!) I'm a whole-hearted nerd. Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit and, yes, the Harry Potter books.

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on) My perseverance. I originally tried to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine almost 15 years ago but those plans got interrupted by hurricane Katrina. My career plans took a (very rewarding) detour towards service dog training but I returned to being a parttime student four years ago. It took three application cycles, but I'll be joining the WSU School of Veterinary Medicine class of 2021 in August.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!) I've always been a fan of the classic baroque breeds: Vanners, Friesians and Andalusians. But, I grew up riding Tennessee Walking Horses in Louisiana and they will always have a special place in my heart. In fact, I've been riding for over 30 years and I still don't quite know what to do when a horse trots! My favorite memory with horses involves attending a horse camp with a friend while I visited her in Budapest, Hungary. I didn't speak Hungarian but we were always playing mounted games and I never understood the rules. I just kept running after everyone and trying to guess what the goal was.

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!
    Nappie! (Napoleon) from the Black Stallion series. Always loved that portly old grey pony. Murray - the dog from the old sitcom, Mad About You. The epitome of everyone's ill behaved but loved canine companion! Then it's a tie between Rizzo the rat and Pepe from the Muppets - "I'm not a shrimp! I'm a king prawn!"

    1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!):
    I am grateful for my in-laws. I think it's a generalization that most people in society don't exactly love their in-laws, but mine go above and beyond to help us out. They are great people.

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    Right now I am in love with the Green Rider Series, by Kristen Britain. What's not to love with horses, fantasy, multiple love triangles, evil villains... It's got everything!

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    I like my ability to learn quickly. It has served me well in school and in my employment.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    We have quarter horses in my family. It's the predominant breed in our area, but I am still partial to them over other breeds. My favorite memory involving the horses is a pack trip that my husband and I took for our anniversary in the mountains near our home. It was only a few days, but it was glorious to combine camping, horses and my hubby!

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!
    I love Mushu from Mulan, Timon & Pumba from the Lion King (I used to watch the Timon and Pumba tv show as a kid all the time), and Maximus from Tangled (who doesn't love a horse with so much personality!)

    1. I am grateful for my riding instructor. She gives me so much confidence and support I don't know what I would do without her.

    2. So hard to choose a favorite because I love them all for different reasons but my long time favorite is Black Beauty. It's a classic and it was the first book written for the humane treatment of animals.

    3. I love how passionate I am about things. Once I am dedicated to something I will never let it go.

    4. My favorite breed would have to be paint because they have so much personality and heart and will do anything you ask of them. And my favorite memory is watching my first horse come off the trailer at her new home. She was a kill pen rescue and I got her sight unseen.

    5. My three favorite secondary Disney character are Olaf from Frozen because he is so adorable, Maximum form Tangled because who can resist such a gorgeous steed, and my last favorite is Angus from Brave because he has such a kind face.

    2. I'm enjoying a novel called Just Life by Neil Abramson. It's a great book for animal lovers!
    3. It always hard to find something you like about yourself, but if I had to choose, I would say my ability to cram before a test!
    4. I suppose my favorite breed is the quarter horse (I'm biased because my horse is a quarter horse). One of my fondest memories involves my palomino gelding Sundrop. I remember that he started falling asleep while I brushed and braided him mane. It's the small things in life that make me happy!

  • 1. Something you're grateful for. (as a reminder to be grateful always!)
    I'm incredibly grateful for the people in my life who encourage me in all my endeavors. From an early age, my parents always supported me and gave me opportunities to pursue my passions, which were mostly things involving animals, including horseback riding, working with animals at a museum and later the zoo, starting an animal rescue, and of course having a menagerie of rescued pets myself. Now that I'm an adult and married, my husband has also been extremely supportive of my interests, even though they're not his interests. Thanks to his encouragement, I got back into riding seriously and competing - and we bought my new show horse earlier this year. I also wouldn't be where I am today without the help from my trainer and barn family.

    2. Your favorite book (I'll be searching these and adding them to my TBR list and if youre one of those terrible people *totally kidding* that despise reading or dont have a favorite book - a movie or tv show will do!)
    Oh but picking just one is so hard! I'll say the Hunger Games was my favorite series, but the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the original anyway) has been my favorite book the longest. Also if you're into memoirs, I feel like the book Brain On Fire is worth mentioning/recommending because I was completely enthralled by it and couldn't put it down.

    3. Your favorite thing about yourself. (yes lets get a little self love going on)
    I think I'll have to say my resilience. Life has not always been easy and I've struggled to deal with a lot of trauma throughout my life as well as some really close losses. My infant daughter was murdered when I was 20, and my life was a wreck for awhile after that. But I am working on getting myself back together, have been sober for almost six years, and finally got my college degree this past December.

    4. Your favorite breed of horse and your favorite memory involving horses (if you dont have a memory involving horses then tell me your favorite memory involving a different animal that you love!)
    German Warmbloods in general, especially Holsteiners, although now that I have a Brandenburg, I guess that's my favorite breed too! (My other mare is an American Warmblood (TBxShire cross) so I guess all sporty horses are my favorites.

    My favorite memory involving horses is probably my first show with my new horse this year. I was really nervous because I hadn't owned her very long yet and was moving up to a new division for the first time. But we won first in three of our five classes and Champion for our division. It was a big moment for us.

    5. Three of your favorite disney (it doesnt have to be disney actually it can be whatever lol) characters that ARENT the main characters!
    Ok so you'll have to forgive me because I don't watch a lot of Disney, but my three favorite non-main characters are April from Parks & Rec, Finn from Law & Order SVU, and Louise from Bob's Burgers.

    Oh and my ID is 21546.

  • 1) I'm deeply grateful for the seven years I got with my Ben bunny before he crossed the bridge yesterday evening...
    Plus every day I get with all the rabbits I've owned.

    2) I've a few fave books... Watership Down, Black Beaity, Silver Brumby, Kushiel's Dart (this one isn't for youngsters...) and Domestic Rabbits & Their Histories: Breeds of the World

    3) I like that I have the ability to keep going even when I'm spiralling downwards, that even when I've broken, I managed to not take the final step...

    4) My favourite breed of horse, is more a type or was when I was growing up... the Cob. Not a hunter Cob, but the gypsy one. All patched colours, long manes, flowing feathers and lots of personality. They're becoming more distinct as a breed now, with slightly different names in different countries..
    As for my favourite memory, would be back when I was about 13-14ish. I was doing a week long summer camp with riding school. I usually rode a palamino Cob gelding called Chico... who was very cheeky by nature! Not only did this pony munch an entire packet of polo mints in wrapper (I put them beside the grooming box on barrel whilst I turned to clean his feet out), but he also had a dust allergy. Take one very warm summer day, a very dry sand floored indoor school, a teenager with hay fever, a pony with dust allergy and a basic dressage test and you get two sneezing, snuffling creatures, trying their best to follow instructions and not wobble about any time one of the sneezed and shook!

    5) Non-main characters I like? I do watch Disney, but a lot of anime and other cartoons a lot more...
    Gigi the cat in Kiki's Delivery service. I'm a pagan witch and I adore the interactions between him and Kiki.
    Maxamillian the white horse from Tangled. Who wouldn't love a sarky, intelligent horse that's better than most soldiers?
    Heh, Yurio from Yuri on Ice... I love how we see a driven young man who's not used to having real friends or such, developing and expressing himself in other ways than just lashing out in anger as he attempts to keep himself from getting hurt by others.

  • Okay Im a little late. Woops. Life always getting in the way :))

    *Closed*

    Im going to respond to everyone that I havent responded to and then pick the winner!
  • @Timber
    I totally understand. I dont think it sounds like youre kissing butt. There are certain things that we cling to when we're depressed or anxious. I deal with both I cant say Ive ever dealt with post partum since well I dont have a baby lol but I can understand the feeling of not finding joy in what used to bring a ton of it to you. Im dealing with that a lot right now and its a hard thing to deal with. So its definitely a GOOD thing to have this game to give you a happiness that you havent had in a while.
    And that definitely counts as a memory it sounds like an awesome picture to have!

    @KAMRanch
    I can understand that. I appreciate any kind of kind words if they mean it even though sometimes people say things that dont help at all lol. but those suicide comments are totally uncalled for and unnecessary and just plain horrible. If they could feel that way just for a few minutes (not that Id wish it on anyone) maybe theyd understand that its not black and white. It has nothing to do with being selfish. Im definitely going to check that trilogy out it sounds AMAZING.

    @Wildland Acres
    Im grateful for that to! Grateful for the opportunity to be able to always improve who we are. Even if it takes a lot of work. I think writing your own books can certainly count! Ive always wanted to write a book but I feel like I would be the absolute worst at it lol.
    I did a quick google search on the breed and Im gonna have to do some more reading because Im intrigued!
    Thats the sweetest story about the baby goat! Im glad she made it through and shes still with you!
    Yes Id say Kronk counts! And I LOVE Lumiere.

    @Tigeria
    Its good to have things to help you through the bad spells. Especially when there arent many things that interest you. Depression sucks (x10000000) and Im so happy you have something that does help you when youre feeling crappy!
    I'm definitely going to check out that book!
    Finally someone said someone from Alice in Wonderland! Loveeeee Cheshire Cat but I guess I love just about every character in the movie since its my favorite lol. I also LOVED Meeko when I was little. I actually had a group of orphaned baby racoons that I took care of for a month before I gave them to a rehabilitation center and of course named one of them Meeko lol.

    @Appleboots
    Hooray for having a wonderful husband! And yes gotta love those big fluffy breeds. Something about them just makes them super majestic lol. OMG love Toulouse! And Altivo! Also loved the Balto movie so much.

    @jahdaz
    They sound like wonderful patient people. Isnt it nice to find good people in a world where theres a ton of bad ones? They sound so sweet and Im happy you have them! Youre my girl! I also love Grimms Fairy Tales and Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children is one of my favorites! Isnt it funny with a ton of anxiety how we feel people can sense it but then we come off as chill and we're like "what... have you met me?" :))
    Dont be sorry thats a good enough story for me! Thats amazing go 9 year old you!!!

    @Waldgraf
    Not corny at all! I think thats amazing.
    Im so happy you will finally be pursuing what youve wanted to for a very long time!
    Your memory made me laugh that sounds so fun even though you didnt know what the rules were you still played and Im sure had a blast doing it! And being in Hungary must have been awesome as well!

    @Salvistar
    Its definitely a generalization that inlaws suck but I know a lot of people with wonderful inlaws sometimes theyre even kinder than their own families! lol.
    Youre the second (or maybe third) person to mention the Green RIder series Im definitely going to have to check it out! It sounds wonderful!
    That sounds like an amazing few days!

    @Painted Dreams
    Thats awesome that you have such a supportive instructor!
    Black Beauty is definitely a classic! Im with you on that one.

    hahaha "I made a very cute baby" that works for me! Our bodies are incredible things and to be able to create a life in there is such a crazy and spectacular thing!

    That sounds like an amazing memory Im sure it felt incredible!

    @Kinetic
    Thats so lovely that you have so so many supportive and wonderful people in your life!
    I am so, so incredibly sorry for the loss of your infant daughter.... thats horrific. I cant even begin to imagine what you have gone through.
    Congratulations x100 for being sober for almost 6 years! Thats amazing! And getting your college degree. You sure are doing a lot to get yourself in a good place and even though I dont know you personally Im happy and proud!
    I dont mind you not watching a lot of disney it was just the first thing that came to mind lol those are wonderful characters!

    @emilybunny
    Im so sorry for the loss of your bun! But at least you had 7 great years with him! I have two bunnies myself and love them very much!
    Its a tough thing to do to keep going when you dont want to. But Im proud that you have the ability to do so! Go you!
    That sounds like a hilarious and at the same time not so fun memory you poor allergy kiddos! lol but at least you kept going!
    Anime and other cartoons are fine! Like I said disney was just the first thing that came to mind but it could be anything. Ive always wanted to try to get into anime and still havent done it lol.

  • Im so glad I decided to use a random number generator because I would have never been able to pick. I want you all to win lol. But alas there can only be one. And the random number generator gods have chosen......drum roll please....

    KINETIC

    I put 1-33 (I counted the number of entries including paradise's to add an extra number) into the generator and the number it chose was 32 and youre the second to last to enter! Congratulations! I'll send the link hopefully you get on in time to click it. Theres about 4 hours left! Sending the link in a message right now!

    To everyone - thank you so much for participating and I loved learning more about you all. This turned out way better than I expected. I'm going to give everyone a "participation prize" because I just feel thats necessary it might take me a day or so to get things sent out. It'll either be straws or a foal if you can't use straws :) I'll check everyones profiles before sending to see if you have upgrades or not!
  • Thanks MoonAcre! Congrats Kinectic!
    Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.
    Striving to become a quality Draft breeder.

  • Thank you so much Moon! That's so nice of you! Congratulations Kinetic. Can't wait to see what you create!
    Thanked by 1MoonAcre Stables
  • Congrats Kinetic! Hope you get a pretty pretty pony
    Thanked by 1MoonAcre Stables
  • Well done @Kinetic use them well!

    Thank you for running this, and offer of consolation prizes a bonus treat! (Straws fine for me, or pretty foal, which ever works, though I'm trying to get ponies under 14h as a project)

    The interactive element was a fun thing to do. Nice to learn more... I'm not that active on the forums sadly

    Today and last night have been hard... I've one lost rabbit looking for her bond partner, but hoping she'll be ok... One of my breeding does might be expecting babies (not sure yet), which would be nice...

    Life can be a bitch. Every time things start going right, the other shoe drops and I end up in tears... would love one year without me and my Pack getting hurt...

    As for anime, there's a lot of good stuff out there. Some popular shows are translated and On Netflix or dedicated anime streams... plus usual other dubious sources.
    Depending what genres you like, there'll be an anime for it!
