Breeding in the pastures??
  • Hello. If I have 3 mares and 2 stallions in 1 pasture.. How will it breed?
    image
  • The mares will be divided up roughly equally between stallions, but at random. So in this case, one stallion will cover one mare, and the other will cover two mares.

You can breed pastures manually on the 5th from 4am (I think that's the time), and it will automatically breed them for you, provided there are stallions in there, on the 14th.

  • It's not always half and half tho. One stallion might breed all 3 mares. But it is definitely random and the only way to control what stallion covers mares is to buy enough pastures to have one for each stallion or to hand breed and give up the pasture bonus.
  • Very true Cheers!

I have four barns at the moment; my primary pasture is for perfect foundations/RS mares, a second gen pasture, third gen pasture and then a fourth gen pasture.

If I have two stallions of a particular gen, but one who I want to just breed to certain mares in that generation, but not hand breed them so they lose their pasture bonus, I move the other mares I don't want to be bred into my primary pasture (so they also don't lose their bonus), and then manually pasture breed that stallion to my chosen mares - if that makes sense? Then I just move all those other mares of the same gen who I didn't want bred to that stallion back into their right pasture, and breed with the other stallion I want.

For example, I have two G4 stallions who are AGA each other, and ten G4 mares in my pasture with their 30+ days bonus accumulated. I want G4 stallion 'A' to cover four of my G4 mares; it may be because of certain genes I want paired together, matching AFPT's etc, so I move the other six G4 mares into my primary pasture. I then put stallion 'A' into my G4 pasture, and breed - but make sure you don't have any other stallions in any other pastures, otherwise they will also breed to all the mares in those pastures!

After stallion 'A' has been bred to my four G4 mares, I move my other six G4 mares from my primary pasture, back into the correct pasture, and remove stallion 'A', replacing him with stallion 'B'. I then click breed, which will have stallion 'B' breed to my other six mares.

I do this with all my pastures if I have multiple stallions that I want the option to choose who breeds with who, and make use of the pasture bonus.

    Hopefully not too confusing! :D

  • That happened to me once, all mares were bred to the same stud when there were two in pasture.

  • @JordanK Lol I guess the ladies have spoken.

I also manually breed my pastures. I bought a second pasture that will hold 10 horses and I move my mares from the primary into the 10 acre, add the stallion of my choice, breed then return those mares to the primary. You can just keep rotating them until everyone is bred the way you want them to be.
  • Ok. i hope i understand but i dont get the short word combos (ex. AFPT) :)
But can the mares be in a pasture when they are bred? What is the pasture bonus and does it mean that you just dont remove them from the pasture?

  • Mares in a pasture can only be bred by a stallion in the same pasture. If you want to breed them to a different stallion, you can change the stallion in the pasture if you want him to cover all the mares.

If you want to breed one of the mares to a different stallion, you must take her out of the pasture to breed her to him. She loses her pasture bonus, if you do that.

Each stallion and mare has a range of possible contributions to their foal's abilities. The contribution from each parent is combined to compute the foal's actual PT and breeding ability. Only Ammit knows the formula that does this.

For every day (up to 30 days) that a mare remains in a pasture, a small amount of the lower end of her breeding ability range is covered up, so that the longer she has been in the pasture, the more her contribution to the foal's abilities comes from the top end of her range.

Removing the mare from the pasture at any time for any reason will remove the bonus she has gained. When you put her back into the pasture, she starts earning her bonus from the beginning again.

  • So if im getting this right.. I dont do anything with the pastures? They breed by they self? And it takes 14 days to get a foal? Do i remove the foal at once or do i leav it in the pasture and for how long? Maybe stupide questions and bad spelling hehe :))

  • They do breed automatically on the 14th but you can breed them manually between the 5th and the 28th of every month. Foals don't need to be removed immediately but must be out before the 28th otherwise they get sold back to the game.

  • Breeding season ends at midnight, game time, between the 27th and 28th. People who live to the east of the US Eastern Time Zone, do get to breed for a while on the 28th, but it won't last all day, unless you're in the time zone that is just west of the International Date Line in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. :D

At least I think that's how it works. For me, game time is the same as real time.

My "real" time is 7 a clock in the evening and the game time is 1pm
I have forgotten what am and pm was :))

  • AM means before noon, and PM means after noon.
