You run across this cool looking horse and would like to buy it!

To purchase a Gulastra Plume (GP) carrier horse, you must already have intact horses expressing that gene in your barns. Some players prefer to only sell to those with foundations with GP. You can also buy GP in the GMT lab so it not a closed gene, only a 'restricted' gene.
Ice 9 is a closed gene, so only those who own a foundation with Ice 9 are allowed to purchase her. Ice 9 (or any Ice) is not available in the GMT lab, so it must be purchased, when Ammit has a sale of the gene, with real money.
So, to purchase this particular horse, you must already have intact GP AND Ice 9 in your barns.

Bonus question (for a SECOND horse! You must answer both questions to get the bonus horse!): What about the requirements for this one? http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=765880

This horse is an Ice 7 horse, which is also a closed gene. To purchase this one, you must own an intact foundation with Ice 7 in your barns. It is the same as Ice 9, you have to purchase this gene with real money when Ammit is offering them, as it is unavailable in the GMT lab.

I know I have already got a horse, but I love genetics questions! Let's hope I got it right, lol :D

You must own ice 9 in your barn but you wouldn't to own a GP horse because is spayed.

GP is in no way restricted. Just because some of the people who own horses with the gene do not like to sell their stock, or regulate who can breed to their horses, does not make a gene restricted. The only person who can make rules about which genes are restricted and which are not, is Ammit, and, to my knowledge she has never said that there are any restrictions whatsoever on GP. Anyone can pay the money to buy the Gene Mod Tokens and add GP to any horse that meets the GMTing criteria (under 4 years old, no living offspring).

Ice 9 is a gene that Ammit has restricted, so Aztec, you are correct when you said "Ice 9 is a closed gene, so only those who own a foundation with Ice 9 are allowed to purchase her."

Ice 7 is a little bit more complicated! There is only one person who owns the gene, and that is AHayesHorses, and you would have to pry it from her cold dead hands. While you are correct that it is restricted, it is on double secret restriction because of that!

Which of the genes used in HJ2 are ‘hypothetical’ genes? (Not counting the fantasy genes) Name 2 that have lots of support for their existence, and 1 that only has moderate support.

Both Flaxen and Rabicano are well supported, but hypothetical genes. Satin is also a hypthotetical gene, but with less support.
