Eras and herd helpers?
  • I used to play the original H&J ...about 1000 yrs ago. I was a bit excited to see something new, and I'm dying to try it out. So far, everything is pretty explanatory, but I'm really confused about eras and herd helpers. Could you please explain them to me?

Also--can a horse's name be changed once you name it?

    Thanks!

  • Eras are a way to help new players get established on the leaderboards. Horses from newer lines are higher-numbered eras, so that a person who has been breeding a line for many generations isn't competing (for the era LBs) with someone who just started. If you breed two horses together from different eras, the foal's era will be the older of the two. It doesn't really affect the game otherwise; you are certainly welcome to breed an era 0 horse and an era 3 horse, and there are no bad consequences.

Each day everyone gets a daily herd helper (found on your Create a Horse page). They will be a color, or sometimes other variables are affected. This week Ammit is sharing special ones so in addition to your regular DHH you'll have a one-horse extra one. If you don't like your DHH you can reroll it (get a new one) for 5000 hb, or just dismiss it and do normal creates which can be any random thing.

And yes, you can change a horse's name as many times as you like.

    Welcome back!
  • Cool! Thank you, Abbey!
