Courtesy Post: Old High Point Horses in Auction
  • In the process of cleaning out my barns a large number of high point show ponies will be going to auction. Please be very careful about bidding on these as many are already over the age when they can start aging out of the game. I would hate new players to buy horses that are about to age out.

Horses start to age out at rollover from 17 years. Please do not spend good money on these horses! They will not make back their purchase price in show bonus before the end of the month!

Part of this process is happening to facilitate a mass transfer to the Available to Adopt program. This program will soon have a lot of high point show ponies, so please be patient a little while longer!

(There will also be a lot of young show ponies with less than 500 points in the auctions. I strongly urge you to pick the ones with 400+ points who are under 10 years old up. Some of these will be fabulous show ponies!)
  • Would some of the 11-12yrs be okay to purchase as well?
Just brought 150,000 hb to get some show horses :D

  • You can buy anything! Just it would be a waste to buy the ones too close to rolling out of the game. If you are ever debating a show pony purchase you can calculate its minimum contribution to you in show bonus.

Every week you earn about 3/4 of your points back in hbs. So take the current number of points a horse has, figure out what 3/4 of that is and roughly how many weeks until that horse will be eligible to pass away at rollover and multiply the two and you'll have roughly the minimum that horse will make for you (if you keep showing it and it keeps earning points it will obviously earn you more). You should never spend more on a show pony than it's likely to make in show bonus for you over its life.

The above formula only really works for middle aged and old horses that have been shown consistently twice a week for most of their lives. With really young horses it's difficult to predict how lucky they will be, which can be a huge factor in what horse is a stand out show pony and which one is just average.

  • I am looking now. Trying to figure out which ones I want.
  • I am keeping links of the ones I'm hoping to get! I'm doing well on hbs right now so hoping to get quite a few! I'm excited :P

  • Oooh! I'll take a gander, then. :D
  • I purchased several of your 7-10 yr olds in the auction tonight. I wanted to thank you for putting them up. I've been a way for a couple of years, so I'm basically starting over. These will help tremendously in building my barn back up.
  • I purchased a number of your 4-7 year olds in the auction, and a few others. Thank-you. They are great additions to my show barns!
  • I did as well from 6 to 13 year olds. Thanks Cheers.
  • Got one 14 year old who added 44 to my showing bonus! Thank you!

  • I was rather surprised that there weren't more people bidding! I intentionally didn't bid on a BUNCH of them because I wanted to make sure everyone got some!

  • Had my eye on a couple and completely missed out, since I was in a lecture this morning. Missed the auction by 15 mins! Bugger! Damn time zone difference.
  • I increased my show bonus 300 dollars. I am closing in on 10k. I am thrilled about.

Me to Confluence I wanted to give a chance for everyone to get some.
  • Gained 700hb daily :D well worth buying the hbs :)

  • I did the same as Confluence..I didnt want to bid on too many , thinking everyone was going to be bidding for them.. But I was very lucky to grab a large group of 7 yr olds and a small group of 4 yr olds..
Ty very much for the beautiful show ponies..They will definitely be a huge boost to my stable... Looking forward to seeing whats coming up in the next auction!

  • I'll have to grab some next auction since I wasnt on to bid this last one!
  • Awesome I am looking forward to getting more.
  • I will also be running fillies and broodmares with less than 3 foals through Mare Papering over the next week if anyone is still looking for broodmares.
  • I would love some broodmares! Are you planning to run the brood mares through the auction, or put them up for sale?
  • I will make a separate post when I finish running them through testing, Dragon. But if there is anything you're looking for, search my herd using the Horse Search and 3790 in the owner ID slot and send me a PM with a list of links to horses you're interested in. Horses will be sold via buddy chat quite inexpensively.
  • Sweet. Cant wait always looking for more broodmares.
  • Oooh....I think I might grab some more broodies off of you then...

  • Sweet can't wait to look.
  • Any more showers coming?

  • Aww, Cheers, just looking through your auction horses, and I am SO going to miss your naming process! I think I bought all the Harry Potter ones in the first round!
    image
  • @JordanK most of the high point show ponies remaining to be sold are in this auction. My remaining stock will be broodmares and spayed broodmares, all of which have lived in pasture most of their lives and have very low total points.

The remaining show ponies are to be transferred to the Available to Adopt program

Confluence I have had fun naming ponies! There are some good ones out there that have made me laugh as I go through them!
  • What is your naming process, Cheers?
  • Whatever catches her eye at the moment!
    image
  • I bid on some from her laundry collection - Delicate Load, I think there was also a Dark Load etc., and a few I think from her visits at the vet clinic. Not sure I ended up with Flea Allergy Dermatitis and Itchy Dog, but I did bid on them. Cheers has the most entertaining names in the game.
    Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
  • Stream of Consciousness naming protocol.

  • Cheers has great names :) I bid on almost an entire skeleton and one small salad lol

  • Damn, you guys are bidding on all of the interesting names! lol. It also makes my naming system sound boring....trying to get names starting with the same letter, and usually something to do with the coat. I DID name a horse "Lady Sooty a Lot" or something like that.

  • Thank you cheers picked up 8 more show ponies and added another 300 hbs to my show bonus.
My new ponies range in age from 5 to 14 years old.

I didn't get genre 4 but did get weapons Smith xx3. thank you so much.
  • Wow, the last two times I didn't end up getting most the ponies I bidded on, so this time I bidded on as many unspoken ponies as I could... I have no money now, but I saved that many ponies from the delete buyer, and now my show bonus jumped from 8k to 12k. Thanks!
    Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
  • awesome. I bidded on a few as well that weren't getting any attention.

this is my gem. I am so glad I got him. been wanting a zebra since I started on the game.
  • Thank you cheers ♡ I've been able to pick up a decent amount of show ponies this auction and last.
  • sweet wildland. that is awesome and what a jump.
  • Hey y'all! Thrilled my kids have gotten good homes!

Various naming processes I have used:
Today's To Do List (like laundry!)
    Today's Grocery List
Anything I can see around me that is a certain color
Book titles, chapter titles, characters (especially from the Harry Potter series)
Differential Diagnosis lists from a case that won't get out of my head (Itchy Dog!)
Anatomy review study (bone, muscle and nerve names have been used at various points)
    Recipe names from a cookbook
Car names from a website I found
    American Presidents

I have also used a website I found of the Elvish languages from the Tolkien universe for intact horses descending from the Abbey Road Galhadon line. Similarly I've used Australian Aborigal language dictionaries to name horses descending from my Uluru Reflections line.
  • I think I may have to use some of these ideas. that is if you don't mind cheers.
  • Im so mad I missed this auction too lol oy too much on my brain.
Im going to miss everything about Cheers including her names that make me giggle.

@bestfriend you can create as many zebras as youd like its part of tack.
  • Tack which one I didn't know that?
  • "Hide | Paint On Zebra Stripes"
  • Thanks Moon. I never knew that. Trying it on my show ponies.
  • Thank you Cheers I got a lot of awesome show ponies I'm so happy to have them!:)
