Well Done Bourbon, well done.
  • I'm so upset with myself. I got gelding happy and gelded my FIRST *Star quality colt. I quess he's going to have to be a very flashy show pony :/

  • If you save up enough for 2 GMTs, you can unalter him!

  • I just bought a new 120 stall barn, so I'm out of luck haha. Shortly after him I gelded another *Star colt but had one GMT hanging around spare so unaltered that one instead of Vernon. I decided that I shouldn't geld another after that one... Still sucks though!

  • Hokey Pokey was ungelded since he's a more consistant shower already! I have a feeling that Vernon might be hiding het DP, but who knows?

  • You've still got time to save up for a GMT token so you might be able to unalter him yet :)
  • I'm with you on him being het DP - his sire is as dark or darker than my brown buckskin Freaky Friday boy. If I had to guess I'd think he's homozygous.

  • Denali I love him!

  • By the time I have enough it'll be foal season again and I'll be in need of a new barn. Maybe I can pop him forward on weekend wishes, but since he's inconsistant he doesn't fit in with my breeding etiquette anyway :/

Denali, your KP stallion is goregous! It's good to get a nice comparison as I have been wondering about it. I thought that maybe the At would bring his coat down a shade but I've had my suspisions on him carrying at least one copy of DP. He throws the most goregous chocolates!

This is his daughter from last season, not 100% quality wise but I'm 90% sure she's hom. The double AtAt is throwing the doubt.

  • @Bourbon, the agouti status does not have any effect on red pigment. Since your filly is homozygous ee, the At At will not interact. If she is bred to a stallion with EE (dominant extension) the foal will always have a rich brown bay phenotype because she is homozygous brown.

    I hope that makes sense.
  • @Burboun I'd bet she's hom too. Both parents look to be carriers - sire hom and dam at least het. And I agree with Rits, het AtAt status won't have an affect on a palomino coat.

I'm of the opinion that all of that sire's foals are DP carriers. For comparison, this horse is het DP to his hom DP.

    Also, +1 on naming
  • Ah ok! My bad! I thought it would help with the addition of the allele for black, completely overlooked the red alleles.

Also on the footnote, I lost the will to name them properly :)) so many foals this season!

  • Don't blame you, Bourbon. I named one of my horses "Running Outta Names"....
