Ever Have One of Those Days?
-
You know, the ones where you look at your barns and decide, "Today's the day. Today, they shall cower in fear of being Yummed." Well, today was mine. I Yummed every single Inconsistent gelding/spay in that barn, plus a few breeders. Why? Because I realized I had a ton of horses that weren't making the cut--or cash--and I needed to trim it back to something more manageable.
From a full 15-stall Gelding/Spay barn, I am left with a lean 7 horses.
From my Primary Barn, which has 35 stalls but only 17 in use, I am left with 10, 2 Yummed and 5 spayed mares, having ruthlessly spayed any mare below a 9.8--and that's only because that 9.8 had a pretty color ^.^
This brought my Gelding/Spay count back up to 12, but what's a girl to do? *shrugs*
But this will free up tons of space for this year's crop of foals, plus I made a chunk of cash, having Yummed 10 horses.
So, anyone else having one of those days? -
I thought PT had nothing to do with breeding ability?
I think k I need one of those days :) -
Pt has nothing to do with breeding ability.

I am this ' ' close to doing the same thing. But am holding off to see how this breeding season treats me. I really could use the hb's tho.
-
Almost every single one of my horses has more breeding potential than show potential. Not like it's a huge loss, though I do know PT doesn't have anything to do with breeding ability; my 10.3 is about as good as his 9.9 father, but the same 9.9's 10.1 son is better than him.
It's why I do the comparison testing, to see who's getting the ladies and who's just chilling. I make an effort to remember who's "as good as" and record who's better.
So it isn't just a blind cull :) I already had had everyone tested as I got them.
