I have this guy out of a rank special who I compared and he tested about as good as his sire. Should I snip him? I like him but I do have a lot of 2g studs!

I find, when I am going through the babies, I keep asking myself "ok, I LIKE him, but do I NEED him?"
-
It's great with the bulk testing that you don't see who gets snipped. I try to keep my stally numbers down so I'd either get rid of him or another 2g that has similar qualityProducer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

After I've done all my testing I also snip all the ones that are inconsistent, so yes, I would snip this one. :)
-
1GMT you could change him consistent and his PT would go up 5 points maybe you could do that

I am going to be the voice of opposition ans say keep him. He is as good as an exceptionally perfect, which makes him a pretty nice match to most 2g mares. As someone who is struggling with an entire mare herd that has lagged behind so badly that I don't really have any studs who pair with them I am rethinking the benefits of only keeping superior studs. Keeping a few "levels" of quality each generation may have it's benefits, especially as you get up there in generations.

I would snip without thinking about it. I never keep any boys that are not superior to their sire. But then again, I snip -alot- that are superior too, because I get way to many.Thanked by 1JordanK
