Breeding

Okay, so I bred a buttload of foals (and sold them back to the game for more breeding stock like a dumb, should have calmed my spending). Anywho I bought myself an A papered stallion to breed next year to my batch of mares, and was wondering how to know if your mare will only produce duds? Basically which mares should just be spayed (but pretty) show ponies
-
Sold them back to the game for 1000? Or auctioned them for a minimum 2500?Thanked by 1AtA

I'm as green as grass but I learned that one the hard way.

The best way to tell which mares are better breeding horses is to paper them. Yellow is the starting point, then Red, Blue, and Gold is the best.
I don't remember any more what tests are available to free and basic accounts, but:
Otherwise the next best thing to do is breed them a few times and get a feel for how their foals perform. You will also have to take into account the stallions contribution, but that's where your personal judgement comes in! -
well, unfortunately I am in a financial situation where I can't afford premium to see their papers =/. Unless I CAN paper as a basic? 0.0
-
I don't think you can. You could help me out with a list (and answer your question) if you would go to one of your horses Control Panel tab and tell me what tests are available to you as a Basic account owner? 8->
-
looks like Genetics, Consistency and Breeding advice
-
All testing except Strict breeding advice is available to basic members, so basic members can paper horses. @Akmu is a free (non-upgraded) member.ID #384
-
Papering is under breeding inspection and is definitely available to basic upgrade members like myself :D
-
Ah, ok...thanks! Basically, then, Akmu, you have to use breeding advice and go with that, then just decide how you want to play. If you want to know if they are good breeders you have to use trial and error. Breed them and see what you get. If you want good show horses, then train and show every time you can and see how well they do.
-
Fair enough, XD I wish i could afford a basic upgrade, that'd be awesome ( or a basic for life option)
-
LOL! I want Ammit to just do a Basic LIFE upgrade! I'd pay! Let me test to see if people are telling me the truth! or mean well, or are just being nasty! @Ammit, could you get on that? I may put it in Weekend Wishes!
-
I'd pay a for life option -hoards birthday money- lol.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

Akmu, you have bought an unevenly bred (2nd/3rd gen) A papered stallion and are going to breed him to foundation mares. The quality is quite uneven so most foals will be gelded/spayed if all the tests were done on them. However you would breed a good bunch of show ponies!
I'd look for a nice foundation stallion in the colours/size you prefer to breed to your mares, if you wanted to breed intact fillies/colts to breed on to the next generation
