did you kow that you get back less then you pay for showing bonus
-
yes you get back less then you pay for showing bonuses that's kind of a rip off. I really don't see how you can get rich on your showing bonuses when you get back less then you put out. and I have a ton of horses and only get 1,400 in show bonus. I make more money breeding and selling horses then I do in show bonus. even if I sell a horse for 2500hb that's still more money then id get showing him or her. I'm just confused on how people say you get rich off your showing bonuses.
-
My showing bonus is nearly 25k per day. I show all my horses and have multiple ponies with over 1000 points. I rarely sell any ponies or put them up for stud. All my money comes from my showing bonus. Patience and perseverance are key.
-
wow when did you get to have that much show bonus? I have a ton of horses I don't get why my bonus is so so low. maybe because I started a month ago could that be why?
-
and you must have to put out more then 25k to get back 25k I'm guessing
-
I think it costs me about 50k per week to show all my ponies. But then the show winnings usually cover that. I have over 1000 horses now, which I've slowly been collecting over the last 12 months.
Stick with it and you'll get there. Save as many hbs as you can and buy barns with IVs. I think some players even have a daily show bonus close to 1 million. -
oh wow 1 million a day that's so amazing. gosh I wish I have been playing this game for years and years. ive wasted my time on Howrse horses over there its way way more expensive and its not as cool of a game as this one. people on here are much nicer its a way better game I just hope I get ahead fast.
-
I'm earning 14k a day at the moment from show bonus alone. Rarely sell my horses, and most foals born are from pasture. I spend about 30k a week showing and get about 27-29k back from show earnings. I only get a short fall of just a few grand for the one day I show and then get a profit of about 95k a week.
I had a little look through your stable and your bonus is probably small since you have a lot of low earners. There was only a handful I could see with over 600pts. You have a lot of horses, but not a whole lot bringing in the moolah. It looks like you have some nice breeding quality and colours but not as many who have showing potential as well.#4519 -
Do you have any show ponies with points you could sell me to help me out I'm on the look out for some but there's just not much in sales and cheers won't get back to me on some show horses I know she's really busy

cheers hasn't logged into the game since feb 5thCelestial Performance Horses

Cheers had to leave the game for some personal reason, though hopefully she will come back eventually, if real life lets her. Meanwhile you need to check out Available to Adopt. There is where you will find show horses to help you build up your show bonus.
Here is a link to the Available to Adopt thread information.

Also look on tr auction. Do a search for auction horses and go down in advanced search and hit all time points and then search. I have found 3 of my last show horses there. All with over 200 pts. Look at their ages though. Try to find one less than 14 years old.
-
Believe it or not, but the best show horses are the ones which were altered from high gen parents. They'll be useless for a few years but when they have some training they start bringing in the money. I don't really look at them properly until they're 10. I usually keep onto my gelds and spays and only chuck those that are doing consistently bad in shows.#4519
-
I've been playing for a little over a year and my show bonus is almost 40k a day. It takes time for your horses to build up points. And you need lots of them lol. The more horses gaining points the more your show bonus is.

Every one else covered the serious answer so I want to add that it is just like real life...."in order to make a small fortune in horses, you must start with a large fortune!" :DThanked by 1kintara

Oh so very true.
-
The truest of true @friesianpaints !
-
Well I've put a ton into this game but am hardly getting anything back I've put in 1000$ in a month and am only getting back 1400hb in showing and I pay more then I get back
-
You do realize that the 1400 is 1400 HBs per day right? So 1400 HBs per day over an entire month is way more money than the 1000 you spent entering shows.
On an average week right now I spend 28,000 to enter shows and I get roughly 26,000 - 27,000 back. So that seems like I'm getting ripped off until you look at my showing bonus which is almost 13,000 per day. So I'm earning over 90,000 each week in the bonus.
If you are looking for "get rich quick" schemes on this game it is not built to be played that way. The richest barns in the game have been playing for several real life years, and have barns with thousands of show horses. You have to hold onto those show horses for a long time and show them every week so that they build up their points and build up their contribution to your show bonus.
Some of my show horses are earning me 100-200 HBs per day in show bonus. That means in only one month they are earning more than the 2500 HBs I could have auctioned them for when they were babies. They will probably live at least 2-3 more months or more, and that's not even considering the HBs they have earned in the past. That's considerably more profit earned over the horse's lifetime. Trust us when we say that building up a show string will benefit you in the long run. It seems slow and small now, but in a real life year it will payoff big.

Oh ok I get it now thanks for setting me straight I'm new to the game and am not sure how things work yet I've been building my show string more over the past week and will continue to do so I have a lot of good quality gelding and spayed mares so they will make good money for me someday
-
Everything they have told you is true--it takes time, but it's possible to get there. This is a great game for teaching patience. *G* And it all depends on what you call "a lot" of horses.
I've been playing this version of HaJ since Oct. 26, 2013. I currently have 2,156 horses in my stable. 689 are foundations, 1467 are lined, but I don't have a lot of high generation horses.
Except for the ones in pastures and in the primary barn, they are all shown regularly (thank you, auto-show). I try to remember to show the primary barn twice a week, but it doesn't always happen, and the number of horses in there fluctuates. Here is what my Show Entry, Show Payout, and Showing Bonus looked like this past week (Feb. 19-25).
2/19: Entry--1045; Payout--1344; Showing Bonus--104,573;
2/20: Entry--24,465; Payout--24,591; Showing Bonus--104,661;
2/21: Entry--13,385; Payout--12,670; Showing Bonus--104,888;
2/22: Entry--13,670; Payout--12,957; Showing Bonus--104,868;
2/23: Entry--37,040; Payout--35,343; Showing Bonus--104,949;
2/24: Entry--12,980; Payout--11,928; Showing Bonus--105,733;
2/25: Entry--28,185; Payout--25,571; Showing Bonus--106,508.
So, Total Entry Fees for the week: 130,770 hajibucks
Total Show Payouts for the week: 124,390 hajibuck
Difference: 6,380 hajibucks "loss."
Total Showing Bonus for the week: 736,180 hajibucks.
Conclusion: I "lost" about 6,000 hajibucks from show entries BUT I gained just under 700,000 hajibucks more than that from the showing bonus based on how all those horses performed in their classes over the week. I am a notorious hoarder of pixel ponies, and this record shows that into my 4th year of playing this game, that habit does pay off. :D

You also need to keep in mind that real life money does not always transfer well into the game. You can spend a ton of real life money and not get much back out of it. You should never expect that jist because you've spent X amount of dollars on a game that it will automatically put you ahead. :)
-
Ok yea I'm learning that lesson the hard way kassierae. I guess you don't get ahead with pretty ponies with hardly any points..but I also have high quality foals the will do well in showing in the future I'm excited for that lol
-
And wow Sandy creek sounds like you are doing awesome in the game that's really great good for you. You must be rich in the game lol :)
-
Just remember it's not about how much you spend, or make, or have. Everyone plays the game differently. My show bonus is at 32k and climbing. The best real money investment you will make, in my opinion, is a couple of pastures. Breed your mares in pasture, auction off those that don't pass rigorous testing. Save your HBs, and invest those into IVs, and then buy lots of barns. Then fill those barns with show ponies.
-
My suggestion if you want to spend real life money on the game to help give you a boost is to spend it on some extra barns and then fill those barns with show ponies. Whether you breed the show ponies yourself or buy them to fill the barn. (I like Kassie's suggestion about using money to buy the pastures as well and then use that to springboard you to buying a few barns)
It may seem frustrating to spend all of that money at first because you won't get a huge jump to your show bonus right away, most of your show ponies will probably be young without a ton of points. But give it a few months and you will see a boost in your show bonus once those ponies grow up and start raking in big points each week. Once your show bonus gets large enough you will find that you have plenty of HBs (or real life money if you want to spend it) to buy more fun things like pretty colored ponies, limited edition genes, tack packs, GMTs, etc.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

I tend to do the pastures, simply because barns u can buy with HBs. My show bonus is climbing about 1k a week, sometimes more. I've been playing a little over a year now.
-
Ok thank you for the advise ill get more money and buy a bunch of show ponies and geld and spay some horses I'm not using :)
-
I actually don't tend to have a loss from my showing....here are my last two:
Show Entry: 1870
Show Payout: 2037
Difference: 167
Show Entry: 1750
Show Payout: 1869
Difference: 119
Granted, my show bonus is only about 650.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable. -
I also recommend that you save everything lol
I usually keep fairly inhouse other than using straws received as SS presents (keeping breeding costs down). I keep all of my horses I breed until I run out of room then I cull the horses with the lowest overall points earned per age group starting with the oldest and working down (I also only look at the horses who are older than their PT as they are mostly levelled off) Currently my barns are fairly empty as I bought a few more barns to be able to sort my breeders by generation and a 1000stall barn for my show horses (which I just filled thanks to the new papering) and I haven’t been breeding as consistently as I could be.
Next show all the things all the time!
By keeping everything for so long and showing everything twice a week my 1,271 horses (140 of which I bred today so are therefore not being productive yet) have the following stats from the last week. The difference between show entries and show pay outs varied from -38 to +544 and over the week they only made 1537hbs from shows pretty much chump change and I could breed more horse from it BUT my real money is coming from the showing bonus.
In the same week my 1,131 horses that only made 1,537hbs showing also brought in 221,751hbs in showing bonuses
