looks like i dont know how to play the game
-
looks like I don't know how to play the game anymore 99% of my horses have gotten spayed or neutered this year and its really frustrating I did so good last season! and now all my horses have been spayed I really don't get what I'm doing wrong. I don't see how last year breeding the same pair of horses multiple times and getting great foals and now this year 99% of the horses I breed are spayed I know the game has changed a lot its not fun anymore. so I'm quitting if anyone sees a horse of mine you like let me know. I'm done. i've put way to much money in this game to loose at it horribly I'm cutting my losses now I don't like where this game is headed and to get all show horses this is not fun at all bye everyone
-
The dynamic has changed since last season with the new testing. Used to be you could do well filly wise if you bred to stallions of higher quality, but now the foals need to be higher than both parents, so now to get the best results you'd want parents of equal quality, but that makes less improvement. It is a different system now, and it will take a little while to figure out how to work it to full advantage, but there are considerable advantages. Just trying to get intact foals will be interesting to figure out.
-
You have 27 intact foals this year, and 38 last year and you have only had 3 days of breeding season. That is hardly 99%. This seems like an awful lot of drama over a tiny increase in the number getting altered.
Now I am willing to help look at your crosses for you, but not if you are just going to make things up. ;)

Personally I wait for pastures to open before doing any serious breeding. The days in pasture bonus definitely helps cut down on the geld spay ratio.
But if you are serious about leaving, I would like to buy back the Kings Ransom stud I sold you.Player id # 3394. -
I will point out as well you don't really know how to play because you skipped learning how breeding works on good foundations and skipped right into shiny colors of who knows what quality and spending a fortune of rank special horses. I would strongly suggest you get a solid knowledge base on how breeding works by starting a plain foundation line and breeding them. Learn the game. You are doing it all on hard more right now and making yourself frustrated for no reason. Just breed some foundations and enjoy them without having to fight with crazy colors and expensive breedings. You are trying to have the sort of breeding string that people who have played the game for years struggle to improve.

I would be willing to help you out Starfire, and mentor you on how to build your own string. I would recommend you sell all off your current non-perfect foundation breeding stock, so you would have to be willing to start from scratch. But, if you did so, and were willing to listen to my advice, I would use my remaining straws from DS Invested to make you a second gen stud who is superior to his sire. Invested was run through the Foundation Rescue when I first got him, so he is a perfect foundation. A son of his would make a lovely herd sire for a herd based on perfect foundations. You would have to breed up the mares from horses you buy from the foundation rescue, and they would be boring colors, but they would be your line, and you could take your time to make sure it is done the way you want it to be done. I would be happy to answer any questions or help you out in the process.

I'm not sure if I'd be ok with selling all my stock but I do have more money to start a new line of foundations and would absolutely love your help :)
-
If you sold some of the expensive ones you could easily afford a few foundations. :)

You would do best to sell off the breeding stock, or alter it and keep it for showing. You could make back most of what you spent on them, and they are never going to give you anything but show ponies as you don't have a large enough concentration of similar quality horses to continue to improve them. You would be better off without them draining your resources, disappointing you when the foals are culled. I am sure you can find a few people who would love to take them off your hands and can find a better place for them in their breeding programs. That being said, I am still willing to help you. I managed to get two superior sons fairly easily. One is inconsistent, so you don't have to take him if you don't want. They are also a pony and a cob, sorry, I prefer my horses closer to the ground.

Your goal should be to focus on breeding at least 50-100 intact second generation mares to pair these two with. Having a foundation mare herd of at least 75-100 horses is your best way to accomplish that. You should average around 25-30 intact mares per breeding cycle with a herd that size. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
I will put them up on buddy sale for you. -
Ok great thank you I not get what you mean by 50-100 second gen mares to pair and 75-100 horses do you mean I have to have that many 2nd gen mares to breed those Colts to?
-
You should buy 75-100 Foundation mares, and 2-3 foundation studs from the foundation rescue. Use those horses to build a herd of roughly 100 second generation mares. The fact that you will need so many foundation mares is another reason why I suggested selling off your current breeding stock. You are going to need both the money, and the room. It is best to keep these mares in pastures if at all possible.
You don't have to wait till you have all 100 second gen's to start breeding, but Hunt and Jump is a number's game. The more you breed the greater your chances of getting an intact horse. I have found 100 horses to be the minimum size of any generation to get me enough horses to move on to the next generation. Fewer than that and a bad run of luck leaves you without enough horses to breed for the next generation.
This is what it takes to build a solid line. It's not something you do with 10 or 20 horses. It can be done with fewer, say 50 horses, but it is going to take twice as long. -
Ok ill start selling what I can to get the funds and space
-
What do I do with my horses that have points and I use for show?
-
Keep your show horses. I was just talking about the breeding horses. :)
-
Rank specials you have, like King's Ransom, Champagne Fizzy, and Good China are all perfect/exceptional foundations, so keep them intact. I'd either keep them, or offer them back to the people you get them from, and if they don't want them, sell them, but rank specials are better intact.
-
Ok thank you wild land ill keep that in mind :)
