Baby Goats!
-
So, as of last night, my paren't farm is up to 20 baby goats since jan 19, not including the babies we are boarding. Two of my does have kidded and had some nice babies, and last night we had a fun little surprise.
One of the babies had moonspots! It is a very desired dominant gene that my Mom has been wanting to get, but we were sure we didn't have. It is dominant, and usually quite flashy, we would know it if we had it, right? So we are looking at this kid and wondering where the moonspots came from. Mother is an older doe and we have never seen moonshots in her kids. Buck is younger, but we have had 10 kids with him before this and we didn't see any moonspot with his kids either, though we never really looked either. Went and checked him anyway, and he has one moonspot underneath his left elbow... LOL. Have to be careful about those flashy spot patterns, because sometimes they aren't so obvious. Haha.

I love moon spots! Congrats!

My friends they have 13 goats right now and 7 are moonspotted. I love their buck Sweet Boy.

Moons pots are so pretty. My granma keeps to does for milking and recently bought a buck with moonspots. Helps the kids they breed sell better. Hes a real pretty buck, shy though----
