Real horses?
-
Just curious who else here has real horses outside of the game? And do you breed, show, have them as pets, or?
I have miniature horses that I raise and show both locally and nationally. Currently running 38 head :) -
I don't own a horse of my own yet. Hopefully I will be able to save up and buy one next summer and then I can start giving lessons. I have ridden for 8, going on 9, years doing mostly barrel racing/pole bending with other peoples horses. I just recently learned western and traditional dressage. I also am in college for a degree in riding instruction and I am hoping to become a CHA certified instructor by the end of May. In addition to that, I just recently took, and passed, an Equine Sports Massage Certification and I have been accepted into the master program for it that takes place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the NRHA Futurity. I get to work with world class trainers and some of the best reining horses in the world. Horses are so amazing :) And I can't wait to own one of my own! This game doesn't help either XD I want a pretty pixel pony in real life!

@ a hayes horses
Awesome :D and I to don't own a horse of my own either.... i'm studying on horse training (Books basically) and hoping to do farrier too :D and i live 4 hrs away from Oklahoma City. :D
Always Looking for FF's and Liver Pearl's -
i have one horse, she's in my profile pic, she's a thoroughbred n the love of my life, we've shown in western pleasure and trail a few times but mainly compete in barrel racing now, we've won three buckles so far and hopefully will continue to win many more :)Celestial Performance Horses

I've got a horse :) He's only young at 2 years old, and taking WAAAAAY too long to mature (both body and mind.. at this rate, he'll be 10 before we back him!).
He's a buckskin warmblood x thoroughbred. Super cheeky, but the best little personality. -
I have three horses. My horses is Sky he was my herd sire till I gelded him last October. He produced 17 foals who all are doing great. I just sold his 10 year old daughter to good friends of mine. I also own my sons Palomino Shetland Pony Gidget. Sky and Gidget just had a nice sport pony colt with 2 ice blue eyes. Sky's offspring have been in shows ranging from barrels and western pleasure to show jumping ponies.

@Friesianpaints, wow, thirty-eight heads? That's even more legs and a lot of food, haha! That must be such a fun farm.
I have two geldings. Kona is my bay Arabian (born 1995) and he is very business-like personality wise. Oku, aka Junior or Junebug, is my bay Friesian-cross (born 2011) and he is very much my pocket pony and love-muffin. Junior got his nickname because he reminds me so much of my first care-lease pony Junior (a black Welsh-Morgan-Quarter cross was the best estimate). I mostly trail ride, fox hunt (drag-scent) on occasion, and show locally. :) -
Oh man fox hunting sounds way cool. That is a bucket list item of mine.
My husband and I have two quarter horses and I also care for my father in laws quarter horse. A grullo and two chestnuts. We trail ride and hunt with them mostly. I ride in the arena occasionally to keep them tuned up. I do have a friend that wants to try a show or two next spring and summer in Western Pleasure or Trail so I think I will try that out also.
P.S. Is anyone watching the Breeders Cup this weekend? I always wanted to be a jockey when I was a little kid.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

Yes I am. Can't wait. I haven't been listening to who is running but am ready to watch.
-
I have 2 of my own right now, an old Thoroughbred and a yearling Quarter horse. I just recently lost a mare to colic. :(
A dream of mine is to raise Percherons for showing under harness (but that's only a dream...)
38 ponies sounds like a lot! That must be fun! :) -
I don't have any horses myself anymore as I just sold my show mare a few months back. I'd have kept her in my apartment if I could but I don't think my landlord, her, or my boyfriend would appreciate it! She was an APHA 2008 chestnut overo that I showed English flat events with. We were working on western and jumping when she sold. I had her since she was a two year old with just 30 days! So far she has earned two reserve world titles and I'm so proud!
My dad still has my previous show mare and now he's the one showing! She's a 2003 sorrel minimal overo. He only does the western pleasure with her, but I've been working on getting him to do the horsemanship and western riding! He also has an upcoming 2 year old APHA gelding. -
I was lucky enough to grow up in a horse family. I have owned and shown horses all my life until recently. My family raised, trained and showed AQHA and APHA horses. I was active in Barrel Racing in Rodeos, and showing Western Pleasure and (Horsemanship in California, Equitation in Oregon.) I dabbled a little in Jumping, and English when I was a teen in Cali. Call me crazy, but I still have my multiple trophies and high point tack awards.
I started working with problem horses for my aunt's stable when I was a teen, and graduated to Ground training, training Barrel horses, and Western Pleasure later on. I also kept showing while training. I was also a 4-H Horse Leader, and 4-H Gaming Superintendent in Oregon for many years, while I continued training horses from their Ground training through the finished show prospects.
I grew up in the mountains of Southern Cali, so we had horses out on pasture in the winter. We had around 20 to thirty head of horse at any time. I have had a few favorites out of the horses we had kept over the years. My first favorite was a black AQHA gelding my aunt bred. Playing this game now, I know he would have been considered a heterozygous brown. He was so versatile, I could ride him in Gymkhana, (in Cali, and called Gaming in Oregon,) in the morning, then turn around, and put him in Pleasure or Horsemanship classes, in a single horse show, and do very well in both. I also had a favorite APHA Tobiano Liver Chestnut gelding my aunt bred, he was Western and English though. He got way too hot if he was in Gymkhana classes. He would have been considered a Splash Tobiano in this game, not just a Tobiano. He was also a Cropout AQHA. I also had a bay AQHA stallion that was one of my best Western Pleasure horses I ever had.
When I moved from Cali to Oregon is when I got my favorite APHA gelding, as a yearling from a friend in the APHA breeding business. He was registered as an Overo because he had one soccer ball sized patch on his barrel. You couldn't see it though unless you got under him and looked up...lol. I just had to have him euthanized a few years ago. My last horse was an APHA mare that I had bred a black Breeding Stock APHA mare to a Palomino Overo APHA stallion. She ended up with only one patch of white also low on her left side of her barrel the shape of Texas. She was registered as a Brown. That was a fun time when I sent in her photos for registration. The APHA couldn't decided if she was Brown, Liver Chestnut, a really dark Buckskin, or Bay. They actually sent a rep out, and did a genetic test on her. She is registered as Brown. She is the horse in my photo above. I had to move back to Cali in 2007, and brought her with me. I am no longer doing any training except Ground training. So put her in training for Reining with a well known trainer down here. I had to sell her not too long ago. -
Loving all the stories so far! Can definitely tell this group loves horses even if you dont currently have one. I also grew up in a horse family starting out with mainly APHA horses and while I do enjoy riding, I fell in love with the minis and all that you can do with them. Someday I do think I will have a riding horse again but for now enjoying the minis :D
Our first mini was way before I even remember but my dad got my mom a mini gelding for her birthday as she had always wanted one to play with and he always jokes that it amazes him how many times that one gelding 'reproduced' since we ended up with so many after we got the "mini bug" :P
My main stallion is the one that shows up on my horses' pages on this game. :D He is a lab tested cremello splash
I have the 38 of my own and my parents still have around 30 also, I generally bring their mares over to foal out here on Marestare since Im a full time stay at home mom (both 2 and 4 legged)! Lots of fun but definitely comes with a lot of heartbreak and stress at times! -
I have one horse, he is a 17.2 h Argentinian warmblood, I do jumping and cross country, he loves to jump , before we got him , the heavy Argentinian men rode him , he was scared to jump but now he loves it, one special boy :x

I have paint horses and compete in the U.S. on a national level. My horse is deaf, and we specialize in Hunter Under Saddle, but we go in western too to try and get all around. We got 16-year end awards in our state this year. Also, my friend has Clydesdales, and sometimes I help her out.

I'm on the Australian showjumping/eventing circuit;
I have some big Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds; a 4yo 17.1hh (still growing!) TB, 16.2hh WBxTB and a 5yo 16.1hh (also still growing) PercheronxTB, plus my little 13.2hh showjumper who took me to 1.20m before I grew too tall.
I have a few more OTTBs coming to me to be retrained and evented, which is exciting!
I compete and jump my WBxTB 1.30m and 1*/2* eventing, and my TB will hopefully follow in his tracks...we have aims of 3*/4*!
My 5yo will hopefully be a showjumper, as he is a bit too chunky to get across a XC course happily, but by god can he jump!
So wonderful to hear about everyone's horses...gosh I think my 4 boys are a handful (taking into consideration their personalities lol XD!) - let alone 30+ horses @friesianpaints!!!AztecArabians

I have a 26 year old appendix gelding. Hes a food hog.
-
I show all around on the POA show circuit nationally. I just sold my first POA, but I'm currently leasing another mare. I also own a grade quarter horse gelding but I'm leading him out right now. I love my POAs though! :)
-
My boys want a POA. They are gorgeous ponies. Very versatile.

I have:
- Tennessee Walker, liver dun, mare who was champion reining and gaming when she was young, she turns 29 in two weeks!
- 14 year old paint mare, sorrel tobiano, just for fun trail horse and an AMAZING cow/herding/cutting horse.
- 4 year old mustang gelding, sooty bay, starting under saddle. Doing well so far, no buck or anything!
- 4 year old Bashkir curly mare, black and SUPER curly, will be a cart pony
- 4 year old Bashkir curly gelding, black tobiano, will be a cart pony
(I think the curly ponies are just too small for me to ride, at least other than a like poke around every once in a while, so a cart pair is probably what they will be)
I used to compete, but not much anymore.. My family started me in the show ring when I was 3, I guess it's just one of those things that you get worn out from, but every once in a while I still do a "for fun" show. Last time me and my mustang cleaned it up with 1xChampion/hi point(but only in the green horse division), 1xfirst, 2xsecond, and 1xthird!
I don't know what I was thinking getting 3 babies all at once when not owning my own property yet :-\" hahaID# 2353 -
@Aztec - 30 minis only counts as, like, 15 big horses, though! Smaller poops to scoops! :P :D
But I do see that there could be a lot of bending over, which would KILL my back (at my age), so theres that.
