To Geld Or Not To Geld

I have this super cute riding pony stallion. He was really excelling showing as a yearling, but as he grew up, he hasn't been doing quite as well :( I think showing really is for him, but I'm not sure whether I should geld him. He seems like he'd be nice to breed too. Not sure yet. Need opinions.Owner Of Bellwether Farm

It's only one show he's not done so well in, and that's the first show where he's been in a class of more than 2! You can't make any kind of trend out of that. I'd say keep him intact, he can both show and breed and you can geld later if you decide you don't want to breed him any more, either if you get an upgrade and can test more thoroughly, if he doesn't give you any good foals, or if you decide you don't care for his colour. And remember to train him every week! He currently needs training. :)

I personally leave stallions that passed free testing intact until there at least 3. For all you know he could be a great show horse as well as stud. If you leave him intact until late you can at least breed him once you'll have a better idea of what to do with him. I know it's difficult to judge a stallions strong points when you can't PT and paper
Does that make sense?----

I also leave my stallions until they can have the same chance as a mare that passes SMT, three foals. If they don't produce anything good then I geld them, and their foals. But I am real lenient with all my horses, because I show everything, except a few mares in pastures for showing bonuses. I think some people don't show many of their breeding horses. Just altered horses. I want the show bonus.

Thanks everyone! I'll keep him intact for now :)Owner Of Bellwether Farm

Once foals grow up and start training, they start adding points to their show score. When they reach Level 2, every level grade covers a range of about 10 points. I don't know how quickly horses in this game add points to their show scores, since I went immediately to Level 5 (now the Premium Upgrade) which is where I had been playing HaJ1.
I think that Ammit has adjusted the speed at which horses in the game increase their show scores because the game year is only half as long as the one in HaJ1, and so the horses were lagging behind the horses in the other game, leveling off at much lower levels. Since I have always let auto-show do everything in this game, I don't have the exact numbers.
