Breed Name?
  • Would anyone be willing to help me come up with a breed name? I am drawing a blank and lacking any sort of creativity :P

    Thanks!
  • What kinds of things are you interested in? Give us some hobbies, books, movies, foods, cultures, etc. that will help us draw some inspiration from things you enjoy.

  • What do you like to do for a hobby (besides this game, lol), or anything else you like? Just anything can be created into a name. Friesian backwards would be Naiseirf (or you could make it Naiseirfian). Take something and mix it up, and have fun with it.
  • I'm a bit of a nerd. Love Harry Potter, LOTR, Big Bang Theory, Star Wars, Star Trek, all musicals, I collect Breyer models, and raise my miniature horses plus love friesians and hope to have one someday :)

I do like the idea of friesian backwards too
  • Nerdian! Geekian. Bazingian. Aldabranian. Hoggy Wartian.

  • Vulcan, Rivendweller, Broadwaydian
  • Harry Potter: Gubraithian
    LOTR: Ainurian
    Star Wars: Banthan
    Star Trek: Cardassian
    Musical: Evitan
  • I was just thinking that Shadowfax was said to belong to a certain breed, and here it is, straight from the wiki:

The Mearas were a breed of wild horses in the north of Middle-earth. They surpass normal horses in intelligence, speed and strength.

Maybe something to do with that? When I get to making my breed I'm going to include my country in its name, so if you really like your country or region or even one you have just seen photos of you could use that for part of the name as well.

  • That's awesome, Obsidian!
  • I use Scotralian because I am Scottish australian .
  • Those are all great! Thank you! Now to pick just one lol
  • I used Argent because my main in World of Warcraft is an Argent Crusader.
  • You have to be careful using real place names. I believe that if the actual name of a place or geographic area is used, the name will be denied. The actual wording is "Names like the Best, Perfect or Champion are not appropriate. Neither is the name of any real breeds of horses or the names of any countries, or real geographic areas."

Scotralian passes because it is a made-up combination of two nationalities.

My breed name is made up from the Norwegian words for Sandy and Creek--Sandbuktian.

  • So would I be denied if I put NZ in it? Like NZ Working Draft?

  • Perhaps. You might have to check it with Ammit.

You might do some translation into French or another language and come up with Neuveaumeriterrian Drafts, but that's pretty clumsy. Perhaps Nehalenian Working Drafts, after the ancient goddess of the region which became the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands, after which New Zealand was named.

Or you might be able to find some pertinent Maori words to work into a name.

  • Hm...maybe. I don't know many Maori off of the top of my head, but I don't think Aotearoa, the Maori name for NZ (meaning Land of the Long White Cloud) would quite work. The Nehalenian Working Drafts I actually quite like. I've got some time before I make mine, so plenty of research for me.

  • i chose mine because i live in the desert and we can see lots of stars here, so celestial was perfect, and its also a hotspot for celebrities too lol so its loosely based on that as well :-)
