I've got a brindle stud that has given me two brindle foals. Oddly enough they are both from the same season as well. They are the only two I've produced in almost a year and only the mare passed testing. I'm not expecting any more brindle foals from him, but you never know.

I second Cheers and Denalidom. There is a lot of luck involved in getting a brindle. In almost three years I have bred 8, but I do not breed a real large scale. Only one stallion has given me two, and it was in the same season oddly enough.

The chance of a given result in breeding is the same no matter how many times you breed for it. It's like tossing pennies. There is a 50/50 chance of getting heads, and the same chance of getting tails, each time you toss the coin. You can toss it 50 times, but you won't necessarily get 25 heads and 25 tails. The chance of each result is the same each time you throw.

In terms of horse colors, let's narrow it to one gene. If you have a stallion that is heterozygous black at Extension--Ee, every time you breed him, there is a 50 % chance he will pass on dominant extension and a 50% chance he will pass on recessive extension. Ten foals with Dominant extension will not change the odds of getting one with recessive extension the next time. It's all luck, and it's exactly like it is in real life.

Although I have found that if I'm breeding manually and I'm getting a lot of neutered or inconsistent foals, if I stop breeding and wait until another day, the luck sometimes changes. *G*
