Monumental mess up.

OK, I'm still a newbie here, but I have made a terrible screw up I think. I took time to read through some more forum posts last night and try to get my head around the gene thing, the ranks and all the other facts and figures that now haunt my dreams! I realise all those beautiful Rank Special horses Ammit so kindly offered over the holidays are called that for a reason! They are SPECIAL. Is there a way I can identify them in my barns so I can make use of the special genes they carry?
Also is there a spot in the forums where the genes and abbreviations are explained in detail? I feel like my head is turning to mush :D
Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017 xxx -
The Rank Specials normally have their Rank Special name on the horses main page under Somatic Tattoos. I am new here, so I cannot say that all of them do, just all the ones since I joined.
I cannot answer your question on the genes except to point you to the basics, in the left menu at the bottom, genetics guide. When you are looking at your horse, if it is colour tested you can click on the genes and that will bring up a brief description. -
Thank you. I will have a run through my horses for their tattoo :)
I have read the genetics guide, I must be too full
of Christmas chocolate to take it in ;) -
Here is a list of all the Rank Specials that have been released: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/forum/discussion/8431/rank-special-dhh-list-new-and-current#Item_24
To searh for Rank Special tattoos you will need to enter the names of each of the RSs that have been released over the holidays. -
Sweethope, you have a premium upgrade, so you have a free tattoo slot. You can design a unique tattoo (or commission another player to do it for you) to put on your horses. Then you can sort by tattoos. I have several. I use a red fleur de lis for 2nd generation horses, I have a broken heart for horses with genes that might be lethal, etc.
Here is a pic of my tatoo model horse. The dreamcatcher is one I designed for best friend to use on her horses:

Ahh, I think I am confusing RS with special herd helpers? There has only been one RS over the Christmas holidays, is that right? The rest are special her helpers. How do I identify those?
I made a tattoo of a yellow fleur de lis when I upgraded but I haven't used it. I have a lot to learn :D -
Is Yule Log AShes RS or Special herd helper?
-
Rank Special.

Thank you :D

There has been a rank special herd helper every day since Christmas. They are not normal herd helpers.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

Rank Special herd helpers are above and beyond daily herd helpers. They ARE herd helpers, but when they come from Ammit you only get one, and you cannot share it.
You CAN get Rank specials as daily herd helpers. "Rank" is the key word here. All HHs have a rank indicating how rare they are. Plain ole Black is Rank : 1, Sooty Flaxen Chestnut is Rank: 3 (I think). The higher the Rank, the more rare the gene, or combination of genes. -
Thank you for your help. it makes more sense now :D
-
Also, I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) but Rank Special (RS) = Special Herd Helper (SHH). I think they refer to the same thing, what Confluence explained, some people just say RS while other SHH.
Again, correct me if I'm mistaken about this. -
Also a tip to mark your RS horses is to put cRS"c in there name.
A lot of players use this type of coding in their horses names.
I put my horses generation number in their name (e.g Mix N Match 2e, one of my 2nd generation Bay stallions)
I put D on the name if they are a draft and L for riding horse.
Most people give their RS a special name based on the title of the horses theme. Eventually you'll be able to remember which horse is which...that is until you have 400+ horses----

Teehee, ColorGood. Just wait until you have thousands and not just hundreds. *G*
Tattoos are a good way to help keep track of horses with special characteristics and to help search for them as well. Ammit has now made it possible to search by more than one tattoo at a time, a great blessing.
I don't have as many tattoos in this game as I do in HaJ 1, but one tattoo I'm always quick to make is one for Frame, which can't always be seen and is always fatal if a foal gets it from both parents. I make sure it's always put on the horse's image where it can be seen, too.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Thank you both. I think maybe tomorrow may be renaming day before I get any more horses..... :))
