Welcome to the wonderful (but indeed very complicated) world of Hunt and Jump. Part of what makes the game complicated is that it is true to life in almost every area, including the uncertainty factor in all parts of life. You will find it in the color genetics, showing and breeding abilities, placings of horses in shows, the way colors and patterns are expressed in the images. Learning how to work with all these things can take a while.

When you purchase a Basic Upgrade, you are able to create your own breed name. You will find the place to do that at Edit my Breed Name under Stable Management. There are rules about what kind of name you can use. These rules are explained on the page. Basically, you can't use real words, countries, or geographical features. You can't name your breed "Unicorns." I created my breed name by taking the Norwegian words for Sandy and Creek and putting them together to make Sandbuktian.

Once you have registered your breed name, every horse you create and every foal you breed will belong to that breed.

The Help me out section of the forum is full of answered questions and looking through it can be helpful. At the bottom of the left menu bar you will find links to Breeding Info, a Genetics Guide, and the FAQ. At the top of the forum page is a post named "Important Links" that is worth checking out.

Please don't just be a lurker, although that's one way to come to understand how things work. We are a friendly community and like to help new players understand the game. When you have a specific question, please ask it. Ask more than one question in a single post. They will always be answered.
