Buckskin DP Question

I think the second one is normal, just has enough white that the lighter parts of him are completely hidden. Did a search and found a few - does't look like DP, which makes sense considering none of that colt's ancestors seem to carry it.
Dark buckskins are a thing in real life, and one of my favorite colors. They pop up occasionally in reining lines, in fact I saw a couple show this past November that were so dark they could pass for brown. Looked up their parents to make sure they carried cream! I'll see if I can find where I wrote down their names, or figure out what bloodline that was. If you've seen Big Chex To Cash, he's an example of an extremely dark palomino. Did some searching, and there's a stallion named Big Bucks To Cash (same sire) that is a textbook sooty buckskin. -
As for the buckskin, my detective work has produced some interesting results:
This horse is a brown buckskin that's het DP, darkest I've found so far. If you look at his dam all of her foals are some type of DP buckskin (She doesn't look to be a carrier - she was bred to a Freaky Friday stallion multiple times).
This one is definitely het DP
This mare is het DP Ssty S+
Finally! This one is my best guess at a hom DP buckskin. Both parents are carriers and he's darker than anything else I've seen.
@Jez Your filly is dark because she's cream on a single copy of brown (E- Ata CcrC), which makes everything darker. If she carried three of the darkening genes (DP and Ssty), she would look like the first horse I posted. I personally love her shade of buckskin. -
yea me too, she's definitely a cutie, thanks :-)Celestial Performance Horses

Thank you for all of that Denali! And that filly is gorgeous! Gotta love surprises like that lol

I'm not seeing any obvious DP in her dam's line. However, she is brown, so that could be making her extra dark.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

I didn't see any obvious DP in her line either until I went to look a little deeper into her dam's side and found that a half sister of her dam produced this colt when bred to a chocolate pally stud.
If Denali is right, then this guy should/could be hom DP. If that is the case then there is a slight chance her dam carries it and my filly is hom DP. Either way I'm really happy with this little girl. -
Hmm. If I had to guess, I'd say that both horses posted are het DP. That filly looks a lot like the first brown buckskin I posted and the stallion is just a touch lighter than the one I think is maybe possibly hopefully hom DP. To be honest it's been really hard figuring out these buckskins! You'd think there's be a decent number of them in game, but the differences are so subtle it's frustrating.

Genetics are frustrating....frustratingly fun, lol. I've bred a couple of colt this year that had my scratching my head :)
