Updated Lethality Chart

as of 10-30-16 Sabino 3 was renamed White 8. No changes were made to the percentages.
W4 has been renamed to Wm -
Are the different varieties of splash still a thing? On the splash horses I have that I've checked, there's only a ^s and not a numeric above the splash gene designation. If they are still different, how can you tell which is which? Thanks.
-
There are different genes for splash, phantom. Check out the genetics guide at the bottom of the left hand menu to see the relevant alleles.Thanked by 1AntarcticPhantom
-
Thanks, I didn't even know that was there! I'm still missing what splash 3 is...? Am I just blind/ignorant lol? Is it the ^s?
-
Splash 3 is listed a Sps3 in the genetic testing. Like splash 1 it is a mutation of MITF. All splash 3 horses are descendants of The Brindled Cat. Splash 3 was released as part of the celebration when HJ1 reached its 3 millionth horse (who was Lupin The Third, the only foundation with splash 3 on that server) and each upgraded player was given a straw from The Brindled Cat. Because of this it is the rarest of the splash genes.I was jllewis on the old forum.

Thank you Confluence for the chart!Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

This is awesome!
-
As a side note this chart is not accurate for crosses with KitM (formerly White 4). KitM has been shown to be safe with White 2, White 8 and Sabino 1 and 2. It could possibly be safe with others.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

Thanks Salvistar. I just swipe it from the HJ1 people on Facebook, and they haven't put up a new one since June.

I'm new to the game, been here about 3 days, how do these genes look in the lab results? aside from Olw, which I assume is Overo Lethal white, I've only seen white expressed as Minimal, light and extensive. I haven't seen it expressed as white 1 or any other number. What should I be looking for?
-
They show as Kitw2 or whatever the white is. or Kitsb1 etc. for sabino.
Heres a mare for example
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=602710
Splash 1 will come up as Sps
Example: Hes got a lot going on gene wise but you'll be able to see where his splash is
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=600133
Splash2 is PAX3C70Y
Example:
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=600358
And I think splash 3 is Sps3
-
Also Cat you are right that Olw is Overo Lethal White but it is known as "frame" in the game.
-
Thanks for the update Dena! I book marked it now. I couldn't find my list I'd copied from before, and took a chance on a Splash 2, (PAX3C07Y) and a Sps3. I found out it was lethal. Now I just go to this book marked thread! ;)
-
Updated chart - I checked new foals and it looks like Kitm is safe with everything.
-
Great job Dena! Cool, Denali, love the solid colors to make it pop right out.
-
Love the chart Denali! Just a little correction "m" is just Kitm no w. I don't think its a white at all anymore. I'm not positive but I think its just its own special little kit snowflake lol.
-
Dang it! That snuck in while I was trying to shortcut with copy/paste. And thank you! I get creative when I'm procrastinating...
Edit: Has been fixed! -
Could some one clarify this for me to make sure I have it right. 25% chance of lethality would mean that some genes (we will pick W1) cannot be homozygous? For example, I breed a KitKitW to a KitKitW. Using those handy Punnett I learned about a quarter of a century ago I get this outcome:
25% KitKit (no white)
50% KitKitW
25% KitWKitW (lethal outcome)
This would be true of any of the lethal combos. Do I have it right, or am I way off? -
1 in 4 chance of getting a lethal with any of the combinations that have 25% on them in the chart. Your calculations are correct.
-
Correct. If you think of Kit mutations as partially "breaking" the gene, each on breaks it in a specific way. The lethal ones break it in such a way that if both copies are broken the foal is not viable, whereas mutations such as roan and tobiano are safe in their homozygous form. I n this way the upcoming system that bases lethality on the extent of white rather than the specific pattern will be more realistic.Thanked by 1Ammit

Just remember that some horses may have been GMTd to have a lethal combination to start with. Freaky Fridays are a good example here--they are homozygous for Frame. So breeding a Freaky Friday to a Freaky Friday is 100% lethal. Breeding a Freaky Friday to a regular frame carrier is 50% lethal..
-
Perfectly explained @Denalidom.

Thanks guys. Trick Or Treat and Fuel To The Fire rank specials would produce lethal when bred to themselves or each other as well. I think what threw me was the fact I had lined horses homozygous for W2., but they were bred before July.
