So I’ve been wondering what is the gene that is most loved by everyone on the game. Is it satin, DP, Snowflake, splash.... or is it something else entirely?

So If you would all humor me, I would like you to tell me your absolute favorite gene (even if you don’t own a horse with it) in each category. Since it wouldn’t be fair if we forgot the special genes, or threw them in with the normal ones:)

Haha, you're gonna get a different answer from just about everyone that puts something down, I'm sure! There are definitely crowd favorites (snf/kp/dp, sa/prl, w3/8/10/M for starters) but that's one of my favorite parts about the game - your castoffs are someone else's treasures!

(And heaven help me, no, I can't pick just one favorite myself!)

Open Genes: snf/kp/dp/gp/prl/sa/S+/Ch/w3/w8/w10/wM/sb1/sb2 (can you tell I like pretty much anything flashy? And I like plain ones too!)

Open Fantasy Genes: proooobably nexus? Though I like the rest too :P

Closed Genes: wt/nc/tnd all together, chin on silver blacks, spm on everything, mushroom on flaxen black livers, ice13 especially but also 14, 9, and 10, all the axioms, and ww is growing on me the more I see of it.

Haha, I'm a mess. Let me answer the reverse of your question to elaborate further:
The only things I don't like -

Roan (but I love the heavy "cornspot" roan on plain black/chestnut)
Pangare (Don't like it washing out my livers, but at the same time I do like the occasional "doberman" looking black liver)
Grey/hom cream (but I like het cream, and I also like both of those for my nacres)
Rabicano (this one is growing on me more and more, especially on my watercolors cause it makes them "sparkle")

So yeah - some horses are prettier to me than others, some coax me into buying them while some don't, but I've seen counter examples to all of these I just listed that are so pretty I adore them. :x

I must end my entirely useless spiel with a picture of one of my favorite pangare rabicano ladies =))

Open Genes: S+, satin, DP, pearl and W10.
Closed genes: I like Ice 9.
And nexus can look great as well :)

Open: I could look through and choose a horse I really love the look of even if I don't like it's color and don't breed for them lol. That being said, I pretty much love the look of 3-4 darkening genes (sooty, s+, DP) on red or bay based coats. I love anything that's going to put white spotting on my horses, I have just about every option for white running in my herds lol. Not really big on grays or double creams cause I like to see my horses patterns pop, but I do have a fair number of nearly solid white horses cause that's just what happens when w10 hits with other genes lol.

Open fantasy- ice 8 by far, but nexus is growing on me lol.

Closed- Ice9, watercolor, and definitely wrong warp.
I surely can't pick just one lol.

W3, pearl, DP. I used to love snowflake, but ive kinda fallen out of it :)

Open fantasy;

Definitely a combo of nexus and ice 1. I think its gorgeous- especially on black bases.(I will post a link in a sec)

Oooh.. My favorite closed genes are definitely mushroom and machiato together. They are stunning :x

This is so hard! I love them all! (I am a bit of a pixel pony hoarder :P )

Open Genes: white m, DP, and I'm starting to get into snowflake.

Open Fantasy Genes: The open ices: ice 1 and ice 8.

Closed Genes: I love them all! Personally I own macciato, chinchilla, ice 14, ice 13, watercolor, and plaid.

Open Genes: Open is a tie between w10 and Kitm. Luckily, I have a boy who has both :)

Open Fantasy Genes: Open fantasy is a tough one. I really like nexus and ice 1, but I think I might like nexus a bit more.

Open Genes: Definitely Kp and Silver, oh and DP!! But with the Kp also lots of the Kit genes, like tobiano, KitM, W8 etc

Open Fantasy Genes: Hmm not sure, maybe ice8

Closed Genes: Love lots of these, Ice9 probably my absolute fave, but also the watercolour, chinchilla and mushroom, ice13

Open Genes: the darkening genes, DP Sty Sty+, especially on browns

Open Fantasy: not really a fan of fantasy genes, but het nexus is ok

Closed Genes: Chinchilla, partially because its gorgeous and partially because it was kind of my suggestion.

Open Genes: This is a really tough one, because my very favorite is a specific combo (bay+DP+Sooty+) ... but if I'm honest, I love sooty+ no matter what coat it shows up on, so there you go haha

Open Fantasy Genes: Nexus is nice, and some of the open ice are interesting, but none of them really make me super excited

Closed Genes: I try to love others more, but I always come back to watercolor. Maybe it's the artist in me lol

So I decided to tally them up today since I have time and I think it’ll be fun to see what is in the to three in each category Currently. I would love to see what other people love as well.

Alrighty so far in the open gene category there is...

1: DP with 10 (votes)
2: S+ with 7
3: I have a 4 way tie with 6, kit M, SNF, W10 and KP

In the open fantasy category
1: Nexus wins with 11
2: Ice 8 and ice 5 tie with 2
3: ice 1 with 1

And lastly in the closed gene category
1: watercolor with 9
2: Macchiato with 7
3: Chinchilla with 6

So keep adding guys. I’d love to see what other people like as well :)

Open Genes: Dun (love those primitives), pearl, kitM (Not sure if it's fantasty/real, but it's KIT, so who knows what's on it).

Open Fantasy Genes: Ice 1, Ice 9, Nexus

Closed Genes: Chinchilla (though I find a certain humor in scrolling through a barn of bays and finding a plaid).

white 3 or sabino 2 are great! Slap dp, pearl, splash, pangere, or roan on it and we have a deal!

Open Fantasy Genes:
I really like Ice 5 and 8. Which is funny because I hated all ice Gene's for years. Then o was given them as gifts I love them now

Closed Genes:
Splash M or non dun

Well, I work with someone irl who breeds PoAs, and I have a coming two-year-old that I bought off her last year, so I'm partial to anything with spots!

I haven't been around long enough to be able to experiment with any of the fantasy genes, but, just by looking at them, I would say Watercolor, Nexus, and Chinchilla are my favorites :)

Open genes: Not really sure, I am kinda liking KitM right now and nd1 is starting to grow on me

Open Fantasy: Nexus, love mixing it into other genes like WW

Closed Fantasy: I love all 3 axioms, Wrong Warp, esp mixed together or with Nexus, Watercolor and Nacre esp when crossed with each other. Also Chinchilla on silver blacks

Open fantasy: nexus, and even though KP isn’t labeled fantasy I feel like it’s not a real gene in real life, so I’ll throw that in there

Closed fantasy: So, mushroom isn’t technically fantasy, but it’s closed. Anyway I love mushroom and splash m. I’ve also become extremely fond of my newest foundie stud, Axiom green and blue with ice 13 and 14, and watercolor. His foals are to die for. So any combination of those genes, I’m in love
