What makes a horse qualify as Best In Pasture?
  • You know the one that's stated in the email as the absolute creme de la creme of your pasture breedings... what determines who is the best?
I thought it was the best papered and highest PTd of the bunch but this season according to the email this filly was the best:

    UE W8 Mare 3580717 BIP

Yet out of all the gold papered fillies I got out of the same pasture she had the lowest PT with the highest PT going to this filly:

So what about the first filly made the game say she appeared to be the best of the bunch?

  • I would assume it directly looks at the "hidden number" of the breeding ability - so when an A is a 112% instead of a 110%, it would be the best of pasture, even if the 110% had the higher PT.

  • I'm pretty sure it goes by breeding ability only.

  • But in regards to that, I have had several BIP babies get snipped when run through BA...even bred babies with pasture bonus, and yet others survive...there has to be something other than just breeding ability that determines BIP

  • I've had BIP foals get snipped while siblings passed too, or that papered lower than siblings, and the BIP is hardly ever the foal with the best PT for me. I mostly ignore it. lol

  • Bip Breeding abilities is straight up looking at the numbers compared to the other foals.

BA is comparing it to each parent and if one is much higher or lower quality than the other the foal has a harder time being as good as or better than the highest parent

  • The mare used to Produce the ones that aren’t getting snipped is probably closer in quality to the stud than the mare used that produced the BIP foal which is why that one is getting snipped because although it’s the best it’s not quite good enough to be better than their highest parent because the gap is much bigger.
