I would like to know your strangest Christmas present ever.
I will chose a winner based on what you write.
Everyone participating will win a present (a straw of your choice from my studs, including my hom satin stud who will be of age in Jan).
I will end this Tuesday 1st Jan at noon game time :)
Was going to auction him but thought this would be nicer to do!Thanked by 1FeldingFields -
Ping!
Bit like bump but higher and less likely to be painful :) -
I think I was 18 or so when i got a roll of aluminum foil and a package of assorted "pipe cleaners" (you know, the fuzzy wire things for crafts).
(I don't need him, just wanted to get the fun started! )#28036Thanked by 1Dinascar -
@Haltanny I would have so enjoyed to play with those! Use the aluminum foil to create the bodies of creatures and the pipe cleaners to use as arms/ legs/ tails and etc. I like crafting things. :x

My dad gave me a blacklight flashlight when I was in high school. It ended up coming in handy for a couple of natural history projects in college (scorpions fluoresce under blacklight and it attracts insects), but at the time I mostly flummoxed. Like, why? He mentioned something about it reminding him of a lightsaber and I liked both lightsabers and the color purple (both true), but it was still very random.
Pro tip though - don't play around with your blacklight flashlight in your freshman year dorm room. Just wait to turn it on until you get outside. You don't want to know.Thanked by 1Dinascar -
@FeldingFields poor you. You should have know it would show those things. :))

There was a point in my life where I very innocent and naive - despite watching CSI religiously since middle school. Silly me, thinking that the school would bleach things.

My strangest ever Christmas gift I was given was seven folded squares of cloth about the size of handkerchiefs.
Just plain old cloth lol.
Seven of them.
To this day I have no idea why I was given them or what they were for or even what I was supposed to do with them haha! I have one rather eccentric aunt who commonly gives out...curious gifts lol!Thanked by 1Dinascar -
Battery post cleaners from my Grandma. There was a great discussion as to what they could be. I had to explain.Thanked by 1Dinascar

Well, I get dog and cat treats for Christmas every year. Since my husband and I don't have kids, this is the closest that my mom and aunt get to buying for grandchildren :DThanked by 1Dinascar

Horse feed... I was 15 and that was what I wanted for Christmas, so that's what I got, 30 sacks of horse feed. :-))Thanked by 1Dinascar

My grandparents love to send us gifts, but they rarely arrive when they are supposed to. It's common to receive Christmas presents from them in March. They are always filled with weird little trinkets and some festive paper napkins. I got a thanksgiving/Halloween box from them at school and decided to open it with my roommate. After we unwrapped the gifts, we pulled out the packing peanuts at the bottom of the box to throw them away and nearly had a heart attack! Rolling around in the bottom of the box was one of those gory looking rubber fingers that people use as Halloween props. After calling them to thank them for the box, I deduced that it was not a prank, they genuinely wanted me to have this gory little rubber finger. My roommate and I hid it in the freezer for our other roommates to find >:)ID# 43830

Ever since I was about 10 years old, I have loved whales. I had posters of whales, books about whales, and watched all the tv shows I could about them. Including “Flipper”, of course! I was active in supporting nonprofit organizations that opposed whaling.
My dad was always keen on sailing and wooden ships. Somewhere he found an antique sperm whale tooth intended to be used for scrimshaw. He thought I would love it. I opened it Christmas morning. I thought it was amazing and beautiful, but I realized it was a remnant of an awesome animal that had been killed by people. I spent the rest of the day trying not to cry for the whale... not too sucessfully.Thanked by 1Dinascar -
One year my mother wrapped a bottle of penicillin and gave it as a gift because several of our rodeo horses had contracted strangles and were on medication for a week plus. I was pretty grateful for this odd gift as it saved me from having to go buy more lol.ID # 8458

My strangest Christmas present was a notebook with my wedding pictures on them— AFTER I had left the man. “Well you can just tear the cover off and use the notebook.”
... yeah. A torn notebook for Christmas. Thanks. :)Thanked by 1Dinascar -
I've had horrible Christmases too, lost relatives and even spent the day digging a grave for a four-legged family member twice, but I'd rather go with the strange gifts thing.
The strangest Christmas present I ever got was from my niece. It was a set of banding pliers and the little rubber bands used with them, along with a bottle of iodine. I had to explain to my family and some visiting relatives that the band were to neuter baby goats with, then exactly how they worked. I was waiting on five doe goats to kid and the previous year I had gotten seven bucklings from them so my niece wanted me to be prepared for the same again. The does retaliated by having mostly doelings that year except for two little boys, and they were both so nice they ended up as herd sires so I didn't use the bander at all. By the next year, nobody knew what happened to the banding pliers so I ended up buying yet another pair. :))Justa ~ ID# 44842

My great grandmother once gave me a calendar for the next year, and a ton of Christmas, thank you, birthday, and blank cards... I guess she thought my 9yr old self needed to write more.Thanked by 1Dinascar

I love reading these!
I also made a draft liver brindle mare to offer if people prefer:-

My weirdest pressie was my old great-grandaunt sending me large sized adult full brief knickers when I was 7 years old - strange - I can only assume she was not wearing her glasses at the time! :)
-
My strangest present was a coaster crocheted to look like a cat's bum :-)) I don't have it anymore because one of my dogs destroyed it when they were a puppy. It was one of the funniest things I'd ever gotten. You have to love secret santa at work!
=))Thanked by 1Dinascar -
I am going to end this early as I am off out later.
I loved reading these.
I tend to get dog/cat treats for Christmas too and obviously horsey related items - again I have no kids so the closest my parents will get to grandchildren (except my bro has 2 kids and 2 grand-kids - that's plenty in my book ;) ).
But I am going to give RedDeefarms first pick of the mare or stallion.
And HTRanch you may have the other (after RedDee has got back to me).
Everyone is welcome to 1 straw from any of my studs
