Freaking out!
  • Oh. My. Goodness. It's almost time to meet my little girls and I'm not ready. They said by the end of the week. I'm getting the rescue course of steroids today and tomorrow. I'm 27 weeks 5 days today. We made it almost 3 weeks further than they thought. But I'm terrified. Sophia went into intermittent reverse flow in Sophia's (baby b) cord, and Hazel has been spiking for long periods of time. I'm more scared of the surgery than the girls being here because I know they'll be in great hands. Hazel's estimated weight is 2 pounds 10 ounces and Sophia's is 1 pound 15 ounces as of today.
  • Best thoughts and the biggest prayers sent your way!!!!

  • I assume by surgery you mean a C-section? If so, I have been through 3 myself. It’s a very quick procedure once they get you prepped. I think it was 15-20 minutes tops from first cut to last stitch. The worst part will be the recovery, and I urge you to get up and moving as quickly as possible. Within 12 hours if allowed. It really helps. Also keep on top of the pain medication, the pain can and will take your breath away (voice of experience, was on the phone with my husband and literally started gasping because a wave of pain hit and my meds were late). Keep a small pillow or folded up blanket to press to your abdomen when you laugh or cough for like 3 weeks, it’s the worst. Definitely listen to the doctors when they say no lifting, I overdid it with my first and it caused my stitches to pop and I needed more.

Not trying to scare you, just trying to help prepare a little. Just take it easy on yourself, let everyone do everything for you if you can for a little while. That’s the fastest way to heal, just take two weeks to kinda veg out.

Good luck to you, and congrats on making it this far! Every day those sweet little girls got to stay was a blessing. Will be saying a prayer for you, your girls, and your doctors :)
  • Huge prayers coming your way! Your little ones are already so loved, i can just tell :x Let us know how everything goes as soon as you are able to!
  • Thank you so much guys! @FallenShadows714 yes, I'm getting a c-section. Both girls are breech at the moment. Even if they weren't they dont think it would be safe with the size difference to allow a normal birth. I'm scared I wont be able to take care of my babies properly :(
  • Sending warm wishes for Hazel and Sophia :)

Medicine is amazing my son was 30 weeks and he is now 18 years old :)

  • @Amgr1992 As long as they have a safe place to sleep, a bottle with their formula, warm clothes and love, that’s all they need for awhile! No way to really mess that up! And just remember, your little girls already love you. They know your heartbeat and the sound of your voice, sometimes all it will take is to hold them close and a little singing or some whispered words of love. Never underestimate the calming power of a cuddle with a newborn, for both baby and mom :) hang in there, we are all supporting you
  • More prayers coming your way from PA. May all go well, and your little girls thrive in the NICU.

  • Congrats and sending you hugs as you get to meet your babies.
  • Thank you guys! They are saying no later than Christmas. But that things could improve although not likely.
  • Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers over thus holiday season.
  • Girls are looking great! The rescue steroids sent Sophia into positive flow for the first time in the entire pregnancy! We may be able to get to 32 weeks! Which will be January 17th. I'm so excited that she is doing so much better! The possibility of earlier delivery still hangs over my head but it's still looking better!
  • Yay! Best wishes for you guys :x
