That stinks...

None of my colts tested superior to their sire Halloween Dancer. I am disappointed because I have great hopes for him. Does it matter about the sires age? Are you more likely to get better superior when the stud is younger? Dancer is 15.

You have a better chance of getting great colts (foals in general) when your mares have the full pasture bonus. No age doesn't matter

Also, it will probably take several seasons/a lot of foals to get a superior son.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

I will echo, from playing this game since 2011 (HaJ1), that it can indeed take a while to get a superior son. It does help to use the best mares you have, and, as MoonAcre said, to use pasture breeding and have your mares in the pasture for a full 30 days so they have the full bonus. In addition, the more foals he has, the greater the odds of getting a superior to sire foal. At present, he only has 6 living offspring.
Remember, there is a lot of randomness built in to the results of breeding. Two perfect foundations can produce offspring with PT scores ranging from 8.9 to 10.4. I would assume that the variability for breeding ability results would be about the same.
His B papered colts are at least a bit superior to him, since they papered a level higher. If there is one whose color/pattern, you like, it wouldn't hurt to breed that one until you get a truly superior son. You may even get one next breeding season.
Patience is the watchword, and, "there's always next season," at least for a couple more game years.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Yeah I know my big hope was with American Harmony son. She was a full 30 days. I will try again. Not giving up on my foundation stud. He is what I wanted when I purchased him.
-
I feel your pain this season. I'm having maybe one in 30 or 40 colts pass comparison testing...got lots that paper where I want them to but they're really making me work for a top colt! Some seasons it's really easy and you get a ton...others you may put a hundred colts on the ground and get only one or two you think are worth keeping.
-
I don't even have a hundred horses. I only breed a what I can.

I tried breeding one of my Axiom studs in HaJ1 today. I bred 5 foals and all of them were neutered, one of the colts by my choice, since he was only about as good as his sire, both B papered. I decided that the dice were NOT rolling my way at that moment and put off any more Axiom breeding until another day.
So I definitely can sympathize with you.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Yikes yeah axiom is expensive. Sorry about your axioms being altered. It makes it frustrating. I am keeping better notes and really watching how many days my.girls are in pasture. If everything works right Halloween Dancer will have 17 mares to breed next season with full pasture bonus.
-
That will give you better odds. Good luck.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
