So I want a good base that requires minimal work, RS so I'm ensured perfect quality. That means two kit genes, I want the horse to be a 2yo draft stud (3yo would be okay), and nothing super lethal. The question is which RS is best? What do you think? I want something that will take the least GMT work, but I also like the idea of an experf. I'm currently thinking about a Trick or Treat for KP, partially because of the novelty (they're rarer) and partially because they're experf, but that frame would have to go and the w2 might have to go too (to be replaced with... w20? Something boring? Not gonna be spending a lot on that). Autumn's arrival, maybe, but two copies of sabino seems a little boring, I do like having two different kit genes. FttF, the white would probably have to go, and at that point I may as well go for the ToT. I dunno. High risk whites aren't a complete deal killer, I've played with them before, just less appealing than the easier ones to handle. Frame is a for sure nope, though, on a stud. I have too many mares with it for that to work.

Thoughts?

For definite 2 kit genes you want either Yule Log Ashes (w1&2), Fuel To The Fire(w2&sb1), Vault Of Stars(tobi&w2), Shades of Pale (roan and tobi) Autumn's Arrival (hom sb1) candy corn (hom roan), catch a blue moon (roan and w2), color with a really long name (roan and tobi), good China (w20 and sb1), hidden gates (w20 and sb1), nanotech primer (w20 w2), red white and blue roan (roan & w2), spiked eggnog (w20 tobi) and white wedding (w2 and roan)

@NorthernStars Oh, thank you! I hadn't thought about a Good China! Darn, I took the w20 off mine because I wanted to see the pearl I'd added. Wasn't thinking about him for KP.

I'm not entirely sure I want pearl in this line, anyways (not that I don't love the gene, but I'm going for a theme ;) ) but that's definitely something I could look into buying another of.

@MariaChapinFarm3 Thanks for the offer of the liver FttF! The DP might almost be enough to push me towards a PF, especially with the height yours has. He's the perfect age, too.

Thanks everyone else, but I'm looking to spend the least number of GMT tokens possible, so I'm trying to limit myself to cheap kit genes or nothing, so no height/weight unless they're really beyond perfect. I may hold off to see if sabino or another cheap one pops up the RGS again before I use tokens, too. The KP needs to go today, though, because I have the money now.

I'm also not a big enough fan of roan to have it on a foundie stud, though I don't mind it in my mares.

Here's the current favorite for the KP - his only failing is the frame and the fact that he's 3 instead of 2, (the w2 again I'm not a huge fan of but can work with easy enough) but his color is just stunning.

There's not a lot of options for RS's with two non-lethal kit alleles. So if you don't really want lethal genes, you're either going to have to gmt them off, in which case any RS could work. Or pick one of the few that don't have lethal genes.

Exactly, which is why I say I'm not against the w1/w2, just not as big a fan of it. It's the frame I'm more concerned about.

I think at this point I'm looking for opinions on my current options, what y'all think would be better, and also looking to see if anyone has the odd het kit RS that got created with an extra w20 or tobi or something.

I think I may just go with my original plan, though, if I don't change my mind in the next few hours. :P

@Haltanny No worries, thanks for the offer though! I really should probably just go for the Trick or Treat and deal with spending a token to remove the frame. Was more looking for audience input than anything. :)

Color with a Really Long name has two non-lethal kit on it, but you would have to ditch the frame.

I put kp on a TrickorTreat stallion, replacing the w2 with Sabino 1 and adding sabino2.

I also used a roan Cherry Drop for a kp stallion, and added sabino 1.. Gotta love that hom dp.

WM RS Chukar KP DP

I like to use sabino because it’s subtle. The mares can bring the flashy white genes. I like to be conservative with them, and keep white factor low. If you don’t, in a few generations your KP line seems to become predominantly white with small patches of color, which defeats the purpose.
