Oh my...
  • Out of all my horses...I have more RS horses than regular horses. Is that good or bad? I have 20 in total, 9 are regular horses and the rest of the 11 are RS mares except for one RS stallion. And that number of RS horses continues to grow each day with new HH's for new RS's.
  • Rank Specials are actually pretty good for foundation horses. They have a known breeding ability, which makes pairing them much easier, and usually they come with either special genes (brindle), rare genes (like pearl which can only be gmted on, excluding a few rare RS), or a rare combination.

  • Ohhh, so their Exactly what you want. Nvm then. All RS HH's watch out I'm gonna snag them all!
  • Lol! Other good herd helpers are the Perfect Foundation, Top Notch Producers, Exceptional Producing and Exceptionally Perfect. But if you're going for a certain colour line, so long as the foundation passes BA/SBA it's perfectly fine to breed from if you're looking to advance your line's Breeding/showing

  • Nothing wrong with that all. if it makes you feel better I have over a hundred RS, as do a lot of people. Some collect certain ones, like Lallyhop collects Silver Pocket Watches. I think shes got somewhere between 250-350 of those :D
God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time.

  • ObsidianKitsune I don't really care for showing or money making horses. I just breed for pretty or rare horses.

CeffylDwr wow...that's a lot of Silver Pocket Watches! Can't wait till I'm like that with every RS someday! (I'm a hoarder in these games, lol)
  • Wolvevenfrosst, you will soon discover you need show horses to generate money to support your breeding. You will see people offer straws from beautiful stallions, and if you want to buy and use them, you will need hb. A lot of hb.
But I like ve using rank specials as my foundations too.

  • By the way, are there new rank specials every day in December?
  • Currently at 236 SPWs, to be exact! But WhiteMountain has a good point - it may not feel like it now, since as a small barn you might not even be making create price off of your nightly bonus, and your weekly is better than that, but I promise you'll quickly come to see the weekly bonus is not even close to your main source of income, nor is sales!

I'm personally at the point where every now and again I get a nice enough horse sold to supplement my income, but my nightly bonus is what's important. I just hit 45k and am working on that pretty 50k landmark in nightly, and that's not even big compared to some of the established players around here. I've not even been driving hard for show ponies like some people. There are show bonuses with numbers like 300k and 500k a NIGHT floating around here. A good rule of thumb is you need at least three show horses for every breeder if you want to be able to fund all your breeding each year. I have about a 1:1 ratio currently (which I'm actually still trying to work on and improve further) but that sustains me because I usually only breed about a third of my horses by season's end. Most lines I have are on a rotational schedule.

And WhiteMountain, possibly! I think there's a chance we may be getting things besides RS, though. We'll have to see what happens. :)
ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!

  • I know I need show horses and ponies to support me. But man I can't help it like a fool! Must breed all the pretties...
  • Hahaha, it's hard! Just keep telling yourself that the more show ponies you buy, the more pretties you can breed! :P

  • I'm trying but like I said... Thanksgiving and Christmas aren't helping! Lol!
  • I toss my lowest pointed show horses into the auction and then open the search, click for auction and sort by total points. I go down the list to bid on as many as I can for 2,600 (I don’t go higher)

The next day I put the lowest pointed overflow show horses in the next auction.

That way my total # of show horses stays small but my total # of points raises
  • Bandit1119 that's a good idea! I might try that next breeding season. Thanks!
  • I find the Tuesday auction better for actually winning more of the higher pointed horses. Last auction I did on a Tuesday my daily bonus went up 2,500hbs just from the auction
