Dark blue roans?
-
I have several blue roans and I noticed that some of them are very dark to the point that they look black, like these two girls.

I'm just curious as to what it is that is making these two so much darker than my other blue roans. -
Roan is an extremely variable gene. Sometimes it causes a lot of white hairs in the coat and a lighter appearance. Sometimes it causes fewer white hairs, and the horses appear darker; sometimes they don't even appear to be roan. These two horses fall into that last category.
Neither of these two have much white factor. The first has None, and the second Light. This may be affecting the number of white hairs in their coat, although I've never noticed a direct correlation.
You can always reroll their images using the reroll button on their control panel until they have the appearance that you want. It might take several tries, but you might get a different picture.
It took 3 rerolls for this horse to get this appearance.
Before the rerolls, he looked much like this horse.
Rerolling only costs 100 hbs now, so it's not a huge expense to try it out.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

OK, thank you Sandy!

Also they look black because they are black :) Blue roans are just black horses with roan
