So this nd1 won’t change the name of the horse to dun, and I assume won’t allow entry into the dun breeders club? I’m intrigued, it looks pretty cool!
-
Can someone explain what nd1 does? I've noticed most of them have nd2. Thanks :)~☼~Welcome to Burnt Hill Creek Farm

ND2 is the recessive form of dun now, meaning the horse does not carry any dun need at all. ND1 is a “softer” form of dun, it carries primitive markings and causes a slight dilution as shown by AHayes horse above, but will not change the name of the horse or allow entry into the breeders club (unless that has just not changed yet). The regular D for dun expression means the horse carries the full dun gene and will have the full expression of dilution and markings, and allow entry into the breeders club and a name change to include dun, unless the horse is a grullo.

Oh, okay thank you for explaining that to me. @fallenshadows714 I really like dun but it does not occur in Thoroughbreds so my lines don't carry it.~☼~Welcome to Burnt Hill Creek Farm

@AHayesHorses If you reroll the FF boy you put it on, does it change the body color? I thought the ND1 didn’t dilute as much as it looks like it did.Thanked by 1AHayesHorses
-
not sure but i really like his color so i'm afraid to try :))
-
Oh my goodness, I have been wanting this for so long! What does it look like with regular dun? Ah, And I am just phasing out my foundation stock. If anyone gets an a papered colt from a het parent who does not have it so I can put it on please let me know! (Drooling) haha
-
I’m pretty sure it’s acting similar to the agouti gene now. D (regular dun) is dominant to nd1, nd1 is dominant to nd2. Dun gives the full dilution, markings, name change and breeder club entry. ND1 just gives the markings and some dilution, no name change or breeder club entry.
-
I broke down and spent most of my IVs on GMT tokens to make this colt homozygous nd1 and add Ssty, since his Silver partially masked the shoulder markings. Now I think he's just about perfect.

I put it on this guy! I was wanting to put something else on him, not too expensive, but not KP or pearl, so I'm super happy this gene came out. Thanks Ammit!

Here's my current project. Decided to work on creating a H&J version of Przewalski's Wild Horse.

The sidebar says create, gene mod, and purchase nd1. Does create mean we could randomly get it in a new create?
-
Yes you can.

I changed my hmz dun to hmz nd1, and I love the shading and subtle dilution.

It is creatable, but appears to be even rarer than DP. Between the 2 servers, I created 571 horses on Tuesday and only got 1 horse with it. In comparison, I got 2 liver chestnuts and a chocolate palomino, which does not count any horses who got DP without it changing their color name. This is my lovely silver bay nd1 mare on HJ1:

@Goobani, yep! I'm sure I will be. :) (Just waiting until the next Roving Gene switch-over to make sure there isn't anything else I want to add.)

I resisted ... then I caved (celebratory, almost finished with semester buy). Had two younger snowflake projects I thought I should add this to!

The leopard on the mare hides it, but I can't wait to see it crop up in foals! -
Question: If the horse already has 2 copies of nd2, it says I can not edit the gene. Any ideas on how I get around that? I want an nd1 that looks close to the horse in the side bar.
-
@PaintsStables sounds like you are trying to edit a lined horse. You can edit on nd1

@PaintsStables Just curious, how did you get two 5% boosts on him? I thought you could only use a max of one
-
I never notice that, but he does have 2 tattoos for the 5% Boost. I only bought 1- 5% Boost, it must be a glitch. I will put it in the glitch section, and let someone check it out.
I posted in the Bug Section about it.
